HOT: Samsung 2018 55" "BFGD" 120hz @ 1440p with HDR CHEAP @ 799.99 or, Open Box $679 Best Buy ht

There are also rumors that the new Samsung 2019 TV's that will be shipping in May or June could possibly have a DP. We will see. That would be a game changer if so. Remember, the new PS5 and Xbox are scheduled ( rumored ) to be shipping in 2020 .... This would put Samung in the drivers seat and ahead of the curve if they were to include DP for the console market and the PC market as well. It's to their advantage, especially with nVidia competing in their space with their BFGD here any day / month now.

DP on Samsung HDTV on 2019 Models only makes sense.

Yeah, and you also get that bullshit McAfee "security" software you can't disable. TV company make all their profit from data mining and advertising. TVs have like a 6% profit margin according to Vizio CEO not long ago.

I will never use a '"smart TV"...My HTPC is faster, more flexibile, and secure.

It any aspect of a TV from any manufacturer is intrusive, there will be an uproar and they will work to make it less intrusive. No company is going to piss off their customers. Not with many many cheaper alternatives out there on the market. I have a ton of crap on my Samsung NU8000 but it's easy to ignore since I do not use my Samsung in a traditional role.

Seriously considering this. How far are you are guys sitting from this 55"? I think i would sit 3' maybe 4' if i wall mount it. Is that going to be too close?

3' seemed too close and it sat a little too high on my desk. 4' and wall mounted so the center of the screen was eye level prob would of fixed all that.

I have a corner shot desk so not possable to get further away even after pulling the desk back a foot which was the most I could move it before moving other furniture.

I'm on the edge of getting this also.

Lazy question; does the specs (4:4:4, 120 @ 1440p, etc) apply to all the sizes, or just a few of them?

The 50" would be perfect size, but I'm reading it doesnt have the good specs as the larger size, is that correct?

So, how far would you be sitting from, say, 3 x 27" Monitors? Lot of dudes do that. 3 or 4 feet? Tell me what the difference is between 3 x 27 monitors and a 55" ? .... no bezels? No bezels is good. Same difference. Guys look at this 55" the wrong way. It's really no different than 2 or 3 or 4 monitors on someones desk except it's one centralized display without all the bezels.

I'm glad i bought Xbox1X and Radeon VII, I love Freesync/Freesync 2 and VVR, EVerything's so butter and silky smooth, it takes gaming to whole new level, I never had my gaming view changed or saw gaming in different light in all my life until this t.v / xbox1x / radeon vii

Sounds like you're loving the new #BFGD life. I'm with you man, trust me.

I have the 55" NU8000 on my desk and it's straight up tech porn for sure.

I have my q6fn wall mounted, my head is around 4-5 feet from the tv. When you get inside of 4ft you start to see color shift around the periphery if you look at a solid colored background, that's something unavoidable with a VA panel this big. I would highly recommend wall mounting as the TV isn't going to be at the right height if it is on the stand on your desk. I had to mount it so the bottom edge of the TV was around 6-8" above the desk so my eye level was square in the center of the display. I'm 6'3" though.

Chaos, you really want to keep the bottom of the display at desk level. I had to mount mine flush with desktop surface, the top of my 55" is only maybe 6" above the top of my head. I see everything clearly at 4+ feet and do not have to look up. Everything is eye level.

I sit 6 feet back from 75" sitting 10-12 feet TV looks good, it's when you sit 6-6 1/2 feet away that 4k really shines.

I sit on the couch in my computer chair, options endless with this big 75" monster 4k t.v. Xbox1x+PC+surround sound it's amazing lol

Put some 4K porn on, it's all over usenet .... just be prepared see see tiny bubbles and shit ahahahah

So no 2560x1440p @ 120hz?

I'm sold, count me in for the 55".

Now to see if bestbuy will price match Amazon. Or go with Costco?

I'm pretty sure, best buy price match same item on amazon, if they don't, they don't get you're business.

Only Reason I bought mine from Best Buy had best price, I got lucky that day lol

I bought Xbox one X that day too, and Samsung Nu8000 75" Freesync and VVR. Everything looks awesome and silky smooth, I bought Radeon VII For Freesync/Freesync 2/VVR T.v Support's it.

I'm building Water cooling setup, Keep VII beast cold, It runs every game max @ 4k 60hz freesync/VVR,
Everything Game's Smooth on PC and Xbox, Best gaming and best of both gaming worlds lol

It really depends on your posture, height, and your desk height. For me I have a long torso and due to the height of my desk I would be looking down at the TV at that height.

Yes of course, start from the beginning of this thread. These are just additional resolutions and refresh rates I didn't initially cover.

Yup, saw that. Read thru everything last night. I'm having a hard time finding anything that hits all the points this tv does. I could get the option of 4k or 1440p@120hz for both my pc and xbox One X.

I only have 2 concerns. The size (4feet away from my face) And pixel density at 1440p being so close to my face. I think I'll move one of my 55" 4k tv's today and test drive the size.

Hopefully nvidia can enable vrr over hdmi someday. I Don't want to sell my 1080ti to take advantage of freesync on this tv. :( after using gsync/144hz for 2 years i got spoiled.

Well ya dont need to move your desk 4 feet away per say. Your seating position is prob close to 3" from the wall already (unless ya got a super non deep desk hehe) so say move the desk about a foot or more from the wall ;)

I am getting at least the 65" (decided to go with the Q65FN since we finally found a new place that tixked all the boxes we wanted and it's a mile from wifey's work (she wants to walk in the good weather).

Depending on my poker week runs this week I may go and ahead and pay the extra $500 (if I downgrsde from Qdot) to get there 75" 8k set. It's just hard to see the Q series side by side and see some of the difference. It would be even more pronounced in properly light controlled /color calibrated setup.

I'd like to get the 75" Q series but it is $2200ish on sale and I don't want to go that deep since I have to buy a pair of GPU blocks for my VIIs and then Zen 2 cpu upgrade in a few months.
