The Division 2

I just joined my discord in T1m3out. I may have a different clan with some guys at work but ill join up in some questing whenever.

Just have fun man. If we meet up, great. If not, there will be plenty of time during the full game.

I can't get enough of the audio logs. I love hearing the tangential stories about the post dollar flu world. It's even more chilling when you hear a child's voice tell their tale of a violent encounter. Yet hope is not lost at the end when the Division intercedes.

I'm generally not a proponent of story telling through emails, logs, etc, because of their over use in so many lazily developed games (*cough* Fallout *cough*). That said, the audio logs in D1 were well done and caught my interest. I found a few in the Private Beta, and they seem to be on the right track once again. It doesn't hurt that they seem to be more committed to developing the story this go around. They should help to flesh out the story, rather than be used as a primary story telling device.

The audio logs remind me a lot of Bioshock, which gives me joy to hunt down in any game that utilizes such.

Preloading now.

wondering if anyone can answer this...
i don't see an option to pre-load. I participated in the technical test last weekend which required the beta file to be updated. i'm assuming because of that i don't need to pre-load? or is the pre-load link buried somewhere on Uplay?

edit: never mind. clicking the 'activate now' button on the news page in uplay added it to my library so now the beta is visible in my library. and it was already pre-loaded from the technical test.

If you see the "The Division 2 Open Beta" link at the top, it will allow you to preload through a link.

Seems to run good, and i'm liking how streamlined everything is with this game. If you want to just stay in the action you can.

Overall I like the game, not a huge fan of the new healing mechanic though. Haven't had any crashes so far in the open beta, the buggy lift in the first main quest seems to be fixed.

So far overall I'm pretty happy with it and looking forward to the full game.

It's hard for me to imagine fans of the Division not being at least as happy with this if it all shapes up well and consistently. This group of developers has earned my trust and benefit of the doubt. I like their attitudes, I like their approach and candor, and I like the work and the results.

I feel the same about the Ghost Recon Wildlands group of developers.

From what I see so far it's a buy from me, and there is enough content here to keep me going - unlike Anthem.
That's crazy, I'm the complete opposite.

Played open beta for a bit and got bored quick. Anthem on the other hand still has my interest and is still fun to play.

Yeah, i'm seeing the same technical issues from the first game here when it comes to the audio engine.

You're not the only one. For me maybe because Anthem is a little faster than Division 2. Don't get me wrong, Division 2 looks good and will buy it since I have friends that would like to group up. But I went back right away to Anthem and grind some xp for my colossus :D

You can just update the closed beta client assuming you didn't uninstall.
if i download the hole 50+GB beta will i still have to download the retail version or will i not be wasting of bunch of bandwidth and it will just patch when its ready? I have to tether off my phones unlimited plan but i still hate to waste the metered data.

I'm getting sick of not being able to skip the startup flash screens or skip the damn intro video. I've seen it 4 damn times now.

Also, I'm still getting a red x windows error related to memory when closing out the game.

The full game will be its own download, I can almost 99.999% guarantee it.

I've gotten to play everything from the Alpha on, and while there are still lots of little things to fix, I am very happy with the game over-all. If I did want changes it would be as follows:

  • Weapon mod system is not fun or usefull. It is good it no longer takes up inventory space, but the negative attributes need to go (or at least be nerfed to the point people find value in them)
  • Deploying many of the Skills is still a clumsy affair, and not consistent from one to the next
  • The UI still needs work. The Squad Management and Item Sharing menus especially
  • Rogue Status is still a mess. Rogues have to be almost on top of you before you can tell they are Rogue, giving them a ridiculous advantage; particularly if they are not Disavowed yet
  • Extraction timers need shortened. With the smaller DZ's even one group of 4 Rogues can make it to any Extraction before you can get loot out. Doesn't have to be drastic; 10-20 seconds
  • Freakin' Delta errors
Regardless, the game over-all is fun to play. It just needs balance and polish.

Finally got it installed and now its offline for maintenance lol....do we still have to disable rtss like we did on the first game with dx12? what is everyone doing to observe fps with dx12

I hope Division 2 can match the first game graphics wise

Hopefully DC has some nice looking areas to explore like Times square. :)

Likely goes without saying but PLEASE submit any and all feedback to them.

For some of us on when we hit the final game it will be at least the third time we get to sit through all of that. They need to give "skip cutscene" options at least and yes, the startup flash screens. ;)

NYC and Times Square is going to be tough to beat for compelling setting although in a beta I'm really not sure how much we all can actually access. I'm not 100 percent sure why some people are saying they think the actual graphics themselves are inferior to part 1. I'd have to go on a hunt myself since I don't have Div1 installed and see what the story is on that.

played a couple hours and so far it just seems like the exact same engine with just obviously different art work....I really counted say 2 is any improvement looks wise over 1 at least so far...dx12 is working fine with rtss so thats good! vega64 seems to handle 1440p maxed out which is expected

Game looks good enough IMO.

I wish I hadn't played The Division 1 for the first time ever less than 2 months ago. It makes all of this a little underwhelming....

The other debate I'm having with myself: If I understand right you get certain rewards from playing this beta that go to the final game? Only reason I'm wondering about putting a lot of effort into a beta otherwise. Is it worth it?

It's just stupid visual appearance crap. If you really want it bad just log in once and you'll get it.

Oh I've done more than that. ;) I just wasn't sure how hardcore this needed to be. Good to know. :)

Agreed, and yes I posted there before I posted here. (y) Most of it has been brought up already, but they do seem to be listening, so any constructive feedback is good.

First 6 pc Gear Set to be shown thus far;

This looks geared towards Raids and Resistence mode (which is not announced, but heavily hinted to come later). Interesting nonetheless.

Props for being more stable than the ANTHEM demo but thats already a low bar. The demo is good but wont pay $60 for it so I'll wait for a sale or deal.
