The Division 2

its funny, I just read your post than my email went off telling me I'm invited to the tech test tomorrow and friday lol. I didn't even know there was going to be a tech test until just now :D

No such luck myself. Odd being in the Alpha & Closed Beta but not getting into the Tech Beta. Oh well, I'll be playing the Open Beta & Gold release anyways.

I also got the e-mail that I'm invited to play the technical test which starts tomorrow...I won't be playing it though as Anthem releases tomorrow night

Unfortunately just more marketing, they still haven't shown any actual Raid footage. It would be nice to know what we're getting, if it has potential, or is just an 8 man Falcon Lost.

EDIT: Some more fleshed out details to add:

More good info, including a bunch of details on the Clan system I had not heard yet:

We should start an [H] Clan and use a fried CPU as our logo, lol.

--

EDIT:

Changes noticed in the Tech Beta:

  • Chem Launcher Skill unlocked with Fire and Foam modifiers. Popular with Testers with some calling it "best skill in the game so far"
  • Movement speed slightly faster and more polished
  • Rushers less buggy, no longer damage you until right next to you, slightly less aggressive, use more cover on approach
  • On Call Status can now be permanently disabled instead of having to turn it off each new session
  • Graphics and FPS improvements (more polished)
  • New Main Mission, sounds like the Astorium (or whatever it is called) that has been shown off in trailers and game play footage.
No guarantee any of this will make it to the Open Beta or Final Release, but it is good to see them listening and testing before launch.

--

Lastly, hadn't seen this posted yet:

Most of this is rudimentary for anyone who has setup a PC game, but there are some nice options and a fair amount of granularity to adjustment.

I’m not much of a clan guy, I’m mostly a solo player. But with all the different incentives/rewards mentioned in that video I’d definitely join a clan to help plink away at the weekly requirements and whatnot. Count me in if a [H] clan is started.

Here's Marco's take on all the new info. A lot of review of course, but in typical Marco 'style', he digs a bit deeper. I foresee either a few nerfs before launch, or the game releasing with a ready made meta.

Alright, I spoke with Kyle briefly to make sure there were no issues with us creating an [H] Clan, and he kindly gave us the go ahead. So, if there are no objections I'll create it on the 12th when I get access and once people start to join we can discuss any details we want to iron out. This will be a casual PvE & PvP clan, nothing competitive or demanding. Blow stuff up and have fun, that it all.

I'll be there, boss.

I'll hook up. I was worried about where TD2 is going but from everything I can tell it looks like they have their shit together way more than anthem does or will. Anthem probably needs 6 months or more before it is worth buying. TD1 kind of got their shit together but never addressed a lot of issues. Like hacking. Will have to see if that is still the case. Although with 12 man servers it may be less of an issue.

Oh, and one more thing... because I don't post in this thread enough:

D2_OpBeta.jpg

So, for the US, Demo unlock times are:

MST: 2am 3-1
CST: 3am 3-1

Preload times will be 24hrs prior to this.

I'm going to aim to get all of the rewards as best I can. I wound up quitting on half of the TD1 shields since I don't have the patience for tedium (would have if some of them were quickly achievable).

Frraksurred shouldn't it be 4AM EST when the beta unlocks? I hope it's the other way around because I got up early last time to try the private beta when it unlocked.

I will be playing but I really can't make myself invest a lot of time in a beta when I know none of that work is going to roll over into the main game when it comes out...

Is it?

Same - but I highly doubt they'll let you go very far. Get the rewards, decide if the game SUCKS or not, then call it quits until launch.

I already now I'm buying the game, I have actually played the Alpha and closed beta. I really like the changes they have made from the first game. I guess I never was such a hard core player I never had any issues with the bugs other people are talking about.

I'm not thinking about any progress from the alpha/beta tests. Only the rewards that will stick on the gold release.

You are correct, not sure what I was thinking there. I will fix it. Pretty sure it was past 3am by that edit, and the diagram I pulled up on Google was using negative numbers to represent each zone. It's a lame excuse, but it works as good as any. :p

I will only have Friday (3-1) off work for the Beta, but I will try to be on after work the other days. Either way, I will leave my Discord channel FR3AK HOU5E up for anyone who wants to use it.

I am in the same boat. I am a Ferro's Mask & Eir SMG away from having them all, but can't bring myself to grind for them (especially given I've owned numerous already and sold / deconstructed them all for room in my Stash). But, the reward is only a Teddy Bear that hangs from your backpack as I understand it, so hardly a huge loss. Still, sucks to be so close and miss it. Personally I think if you made it to tier 4 of the Shields, you should get it.

Year One Content trailer:

Interested to see some break down analysis to pick some of the details out of this one.

Hamish pretty much hinted at a Minigun specialization during SoTG. I can't wait to see how the ammo for that one works. 50 cal you get a few bullets , Crossbow you get a few arrows, and Grenade launcher you get a few grenades. How does minigun ammo drop? Like for real how does it work in real life. Best minigun reference I have is Arnold in Terminator 2.

I didn't see that part, but if you watch the trailer when they're talking about the 3 new Specializations, you'll notice a gold partical effect that looks like a scene transition... but if you watch it closely, it forms the skeleton of a minigun. I was trying to figure out what weapon was in the case they open (current crossbow) was when I noticed this. So Hamish hinting at it just confirms it for me.

There are other things they haven't mentioned, that they have given us glimpses of in trailers. They say there is only 3 factions, but they've shown us 5. There are Cleaners with flame throwers, but they look different from NY. There is an Underground faction with the Heavies having chain saws. There has been several rumors that there will eventually be 6 factions... but we'll have to wait and see.

In real life a human doesn't ever carry a mini gun. The sheer weight of a m134 or m61 vulkan is far beyond what a normal person can generally pickup. The force of an M61 can push a helicopter through the air from the fire rate and recoil. I suspect it will probably be small drops of bullets that magically jump into the gun ignoring all the realistic mechanics of that kind of weapon.

I do like the idea of a minigun class so to speak as I always liked playing the heavy weapons guy in the team fortress games.

They've have to use powered exoskeletons in order to employ miniguns like that- can't say that'd ever be tactically useful. Scary to face, but of limited utility.

Ya there are small ones now....

LOL mentioning "real life" in the context of the division

Preloading now.

My Discord channel FR3AK HOU5E is up for those who may want to test connect. You'll see "Frrakmin" logged in, that is just my Admin account so you can ignore it. There's no one there.

It doesn't unlock until 3am where I am at, so I may get a couple hours in late tonight, but then I'll be on most the afternoon and evening Friday. Anyway, looking forward to running into some of you, have a good weekend otherwise.
