BioWare's new IP: Anthem

Not good. Recurring complaint from seeing others is about loading screens everywhere.
similar/boring mission structure.
gone through 1/3 the strongholds in 2 hours, so does not speak much as to quantity of content
No respawn zones - if you get dropped in a team you have to wait for a teammate to pick you up. if they don't you have to alt-f4 out of the game because you cannot do ANYTHING else

I'll give you the spawn thing is stupid...but I bet if it really turns into a problem the Devs will fix it. As to the rest...name one game that didn't start out rough in this genre? Destiny was a absolute shit show.....in both releases.....Division 1 was a horrible turd. I'll give them Division 2 is looking better....but I bet it suffers from the same stuff.

I have to agree about the loading screens. There are just too many of them. Luckily, I have the game on an SSD on PC, so it's not as terrible. I imagine that it's just awful on a console with a basic hdd, though.

Also Devs said load times are getting improved, there's a bug which is getting fixed in the next patch.

the loading screens are my only real complaint from playing the betas...the teammate revive aspect is fine...this is not CoD where you die and instantly get revived...teammates should have to revive a downed player in group play...seems like a lot of people playing the Early Access are liking it a lot more then the betas...you can always find negative videos or opinions if you look but overall impressions seem to be very positive

agreed...I keep saying that this is only going to get better and better as each month goes by...those other online games you mentioned started out with a lot of issues...people seem to want to hold EA to a different standard because of their EA hate...Anthem has started out really well...more content is definitely necessary but I have no doubt they will do so...and all upcoming DLC will be free

Nice. These early issues make me glad I'm not playing until the "real" launch day. Gives them more time to work out some of the kinks.

Well by this time most of us know that early access means you are still testing stuff. They promised a slew of patches for the 22nd so that should be all good, but then again patch day does not always mean it is free of problems :)

Are they going to give you the option to be 3rd person camera in the city? I hate the first person camera. It just feel weird and off.

No FOV slider for a PC game ?

What in the hell does it take devs not to be stupidly lazy about things like this ?
Can we stop with the faux outrage on this point? Adjusting the FOV in-game was never a standard thing in PC games.

I think it feels weird because they're using a very narrow hFOV combined with a tall vFOV. Kind of like how the original Metro 2033 felt, where they wanted the game to "feel claustrophobic" despite many people puking because of it.

It really should be a standard feature, at least for any game like this or any game that takes place in first person.

Beat the main story, story gets pretty good and looks pretty deep after the main line is done.

LOL Marco taking a dump on the game

Says there is about 15 hours of content in the game, spent another 5 hours grinding stuff. max level is 30, he did ending at 22, another one did it at 15.
Does not see the point in continuing the game, loop being doing the same boring missions for better gear so you can do the same boring missions at higher difficulties
In other words no real endgame.

LOL notice how he never says or shows the difficulty level. Its a cake walk Easy or Normal. He'd get his ass handed to him on Hard let alone anything higher by just spamming Y.

I had a ton of fun playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer with a regular crew. Squad based PVE games are more about assembling a team and seeing what you can accomplish as a group and what trouble you can get into. I never really expected a fabulous single player experience from Anthem, but if it can deliver the kind of hijinks that ME3 MP did, it's worthwhile.

For example: Modding the game to run infinite spawn bosses from all factions at the same time on the hardest difficulty level!

how much content is in the final game?...total Strongholds, main missions etc?

3 Strongholds, the last one is actual the final story mission. As far as main missions I honestly don't remember more than 10 less than 20. I'm still working towards lvl 30, and there's still a good bit of side quests that I haven't done.

Not going to post spoilers, but Legion of Dawn has a lot of do with Post Story / End Game / Continuing Content drop. But I will say they are going to need to get more Strongholds out ASAP, and they upped the Difficult by a good margin for Hard at least compared to the Demo on the spider lair.

the side quests are only available via the Fort Tarsis area?...the contracts are the same as side missions?...are they lengthy?

Some take 5 mins, others have been between 15-20. I'm hoping they held back content on purpose for the actual release.

Just my opinion, the core elements are all here in the game they really are. They just need to push out the content on a weekly/Monthly level or the game is gonna die out. I'd say its on par maybe a little less than what Destiny 1 Launched with based on this weekends play. They've just got to push the content out in a timely manner, since there's no PVP to hold peoples interest like D1.

And I'm lvl 26 at the moment, and no Masterwork or above drops yet. Epic's are coming pretty regularly. Another thing, just not impressed with the variety of abilities or weapons at this point....interceptor really kinda sucks only a few abiltiies are really useful. For instance wtf they were thinking with the "mines" ability I have no clue, that thing is 100% worthless.

based on the beta it seems like most people are either going for Storm or Colossus...Interceptor seems decent and has potential with some tweaks...Ranger seems like a middle ground for people who don't want to master the other javelins specialized move-sets

Ya I was maining Storm...but got tired of seeing nothing but Storms. So I started playing my back up the Interceptor....they are going to need to buff it for Master Difficulties or its just going to get insta killed.

so the only thing to do once you've finished the main missions and Strongholds is the FreePlay and repeating the story missions on higher difficulties?...I think at Lvl 30 you unlock all the GrandMaster settings

There are random contracts still given out after completing the main story, and a few side mission chains that can only be completed after the main story. They are also trying to push the quick play feature where you are put into a mission in progress and get extra rewards for doing so although I don't know exactly what that means.

I beat the game tonight, was level 28 at the final mission. After that I leveled up to 30. I haven't even touched the other 3 suits, used colossus the entire time with pretty much the same powers. I think a lot of time can be spent beyond the main missions to gear the other suits. There are also plenty of challenges to complete, many of which will require using other weapons or abilities to take a player out of there comfort zone. Personally I like that kind of stuff and I'm looking forward to getting skilled at all the suits. The 4 available really do offer unique playstyles it seems to me.

I have Origin Premier so I gave the game a shot.

It's a pretty game, but the game play seemed pretty boring to me. I don't really get what the draw is here. You fly around and shoot at bullet sponge enemies. Rinse, repeat.

can you explore the entire map (or most of it) right from the beginning?...one thing I hated in the demo was that most of the map was blocked off so every time you entered a locked area a warning message would appear on screen giving you 5 seconds to turn back...if you didn't make it back then you were booted out...the crazy thing was if you're flying around at top speed and get the warning, 5 seconds is not enough time to turn around and get back into the boundary...was really annoying

Interesting about loading screens. A good developer knows how to hide loading scenes with transition tricks and such.

So it's exactly like Destiny when it first came out. Sounds awesome!

Why are so many games doing more and more loading screens ?

Even WoW, used to be a true open world MMO RPG, and you could travel to tons of other zones via flight path or flying yourself, or riding across an entire continent with no load screens. Now with WoW it's load screen city, and sucks

Yea it's getting nuts, you could travel across the entire map in Just Cause 2 with nary a hitch or loading screen.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey might have the single largest map in game history. While it's obviously a single player game - you can go from one end to the other with no loading screens or bog down while maintaining a huge view distance and along with varying zoom levels and great detail. Whatever Ubisoft is doing with that game (or whatever Rockstar does in all of the GTA games) should be the standard bearers for large scale games.

I bought a month of origin access just to see if it was any better than the demo. It is better as far as connection goes but it still isntholding my interest. I log in, play one mission and log out. There isnt anything that entices me to do the next mission. The mission UI is stil awful.

the constant loading screens are annoying but I keep reading about 2-3 minute load times...when I played the betas on PC it wasn't anywhere near that long...maybe 15-20 seconds...that's probably more of a console issue...but it would be nice if traveling the world was more seamless...

Its HD dependent. I've got mine running a 970 evo drive. You only see load times in the mins if you have a potato for a computer.

Also I think their drop tables are fukked. I got my first masterworks gun and then start a new mission and I shit you not like 2 of the 3 other people had just got the same gun too.

how do drops work?....when you get loot as part of a team does everyone get the same loot?...and how does matchmaking work?...do they match you up with people that are the same level as you?

LOL not even close on the level part, i guess its who ever signed up to do the mission at that difficulty. No idea on the loot, I would hope that everyone gets their own random rolls because thats going to cheap masterwork/legendary stuff.
