Has any fighting game implemented a separate equipables system yet? Individual costume slots for arms, legs, headwear, footwear, etc. to allow players to customize characters however they want would surely be popular, not to mention the ungodly amounts of money that could be made from microtransactions for hats, bikinis, and different colored hats and bikinis, to name just a few. Plus "controversies" like this could be avoided since people could dress characters up or down as they wish.

If your player base wants tiddies, and you don't give them tiddies, they are going to complain. The proper response to those complaints, if you really don't want to give them what they want, is to say nothing. Attacking your customers is a good old fashioned no no. It almost never benefits you or the customers that are satisfied with the product. It generally only serves to inflame people on the fence, the ones that were merely disappointed about the pretty pretty tiddies being all covered up.
Sexy, often scantily clad, females in games is the norm, and has been for some time. It is what is expected by the people that actually buy your games. Some pussy hat wearing individual that was never going to buy your game anyway protesting against tiddies in your game, should not cause you to remove said tiddies when that removal will cause you grief with the people that actually buy your game. Some devs are having an issue dealing with this reality of late.
If, as a dev, you truly feel the typical portrayal of tiddies in a franchise is wrong, you might want to seek work on a different franchise if you don't want to deal with people complaining that you took the tiddies away.

Attacking the fans, or being disrespectful to a games fan base only nets you additional complaints regarding your attack or disrespect. It will never lessen the original complaint.
 
It's probably 10% who want oversexualized females and 10% who are the new digital puritans. I'd bet 80% want their characters to fall withing 1-2 SDs of mean attractiveness.
 
The funny thing is they're catering to an audience that is NOT going to buy their game. The ones complaining about too much female skin are not players.

They're not "catering" to that crowd. If they were there wouldn't be graphic violence against women. This whole "controversy" is nothing more than something drummed up by Megalith for this post. Its nothing more than clickbait.

do you think we are that stupid to not see all these SJW PC decisions being shoved into our games ? ( this and DOA6 controversy)?

Is this your first modern Netherrealm game? Making good looking characters (at least in terms of the face) is not their forte. They've had problems with it since MK9. 9, X, IJ1, IJ2, all have really bad character faces especially for the female fighters. The characters here look a lot better than they've had in the past. Go look back at Wonder Woman in IJ1 and compare that to any of the characters revealed so far for 11.

Yeah, we should turn a blind eye to this SJW shit and walk firmly with our heads up our asses and ignore it. It started in Hollywood now its trickling down to games. It's like how 10% of population is gay, yet now every fucking TV show has to throw LGBTQ in it. What disgusted me was the end of the Voltron cartoon my nephews watch on Netflix, they HAD to make this Shiro character gay at the end. REALLY>??>? Kids need this shoved in their face now??? Can't kids just watch cartoons without politics and this bullshit? Women can't be sexy now either?

So yeah, we have a right to bitch, specially my generation that has been with them since MK1. It's like your hinting at the whole "its just a game" thing. Well Its not.

You have issues. Having minority characters exist in media is not "politics". Thinking otherwise says a lot about you.
