Far Cry New Dawn

official reviews sites haven't been too kind but the people playing it seem to be giving it good reviews...I've seen some screenshots and it looks really impressive...don't know what Ubisoft did to the engine but it looks better then FC5 for some reason

eh, you have to take it all with a grain of salt now. many youtubers and such are involved with penis suction to keep early access to games. many are not, but when you listen to reviews you can tell the difference.

I spent about 6 hours doing whatever in this game and I definitely enjoy it.

What i really meant is thay i wont buy Farcry products anymore

You know what i mean.

nobody has any clue what you mean. crytek made the crysis series out of first farcry, along with a 3D engine used by a few games. UBI makes farcry along with tons of other shit. If you are boycotting UBI then good for you..

so i found an old far cry 5 screenshot
Far Cry® 52018-10-24-22-30-3.jpg

and heres a far cry new dawn screenshot:

I might have to go back and run far cry 5 but there does appear to be higher color saturation which does make the game look a bit better to me.

I played for about three hours last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The increased crafting element is kind of weird but definitely makes the game feel very different from 5. The whole atmosphere is different with the overgrowth and (so far anyway) reduced population etc too. There's less urgency I suppose, which is really kind of cool.

I intend to play the shit out of it later today.

Farcry the game, does not appeal to me anymore with the direction it took regardless of the company making it. In my haste, I forgot UBI owned the franchise now. BFD. In any case, no more Farcry products for me. Hold the presses.

does it look better then FC5?
It looks infinitely better. But that's maybe just HDR, I played the original FC5 without HDR. But the characters seem to be better as well, and it plays better too. And runs butter smooth with the newest Nvidia drivers, with older ones it stutters quite a bit. So far I've two issues. The subtitles off setting is not remembered, and that some enemies are bullet sponges due to levels. But It's not as bad as AC:Odyssey. I could take down tier iii animals at the start of the game.

I played FC5 on my previous rig before I had 4K and HDR so I can't comment directly on comparisons but this game definitely looks gorgeous with all the bells and whistles...runs well and there is a little bit of the bullet sponging for the same situations we've seen before in these games.

It's FC5's expansion pack.

My guess is if I reinstall FC5, fire it up, hit the 4K and all the bells and whistles it's going to be quite close and comparable. I can't imagine why it wouldn't be.

I would definitely recommend playing 5 first because this is a direct sequel. Yes, the story is hardly Shakespeare or anything but still. ;)

Do you think HDR is any good? You have that high end ASUS monitor right?

so doess this hold your damn hand like FC5 did through the whole game taking you out of whatrever you were doing and forcing progression?

Yes. When "well implemented" it's the real deal. I'm completely sold on it myself.

This game even gives you two choice variants and between whatever monitor or TV you use you can tweak it on that end and with in game menus as well. Same goes for the last two Assassins Creed games, Destiny 2, and a growing list of others.

Nice game so far turn off Motion Blur not sure if that includes Bloom.

Nope. The whole forced ambush/kidnapping mechanic is gone. Go at your own pace (at least as far as I've played).

if this is the case throughout...I may get it...after its on sale sometime. I loathed 5 because of that forced BS and I hope they never go back to t hat again.

Incase, like me, you couldn't track it down:

Brooke Candy - War

Yes, make a point to get Prosperity maxed out ASAP so you can upgrade everything and get better weapons the sooner the better for everything else.

I think overall I like FC5 main better in some ways than this but this is a solid enough expansion pack for what it is.

This is a definite +1 for New Dawn.

I just got the HD pack, and it seamed to help a bit on the visual's. With everything turned on ultra I'm getting an average of 65-70FPS. That's on a GTX1080.
So far I like it, but I haven't been able to play much. But, so far no forced story. You basically just go around trying to recruit people, and get outposts. There is a main story quest that you get right off that I'm sure leads you along, but I haven't hit that one yet.

Have most of y'all razed the outposts to get more fuel?

Basically when you upgrade your Homestead in the game the story progresses each time I think I heard the game is about 20+ hours at the most. I wish I held off on upgrading it to level 2 because the Twins payed me another visit....I'm also playing on Story Mode which really only gets difficult if you take on a level 3 Highway Man Refinery.

It's good in that regard - But there is a definite lack of stuff around the game world compared to 5.

I mean, I understand the world has been blown up, but when you go between the games FC5 just feels more 'alive' honestly.

However, this game fixes the issues that FC5 had with the forced progression as mentioned, and I feel the difficulty scales better as well.

Now that everyone has had time with the game, how is the stealth? Compared to FC5?
I'm curious how the enemy levels change anything.

I like the new enemy leveling. The game is actually difficult this time around compared to FC5.

My biggest criticism of FC5 was that the game wasn't difficult even on the highest setting.

This time around they fixed it by basically putting armor on the enemies. It prevents you from head shotting every enemy. They also generally just have more health.

That being said, you can still insta-kill an enemy with a headshot, but higher tier enemies are wearing masks/helmets that prevent this. So you've got to shoot their armor off first. That, or just aim in the right spot. The dudes with the masks as long as you shoot their head where the mask isn't covering you'll get a headshot.

The stealth is about the same as I remember it. Only difference is that you have to buy a perk to stealth kill the higher tier enemies.

Generally it's a solid game.

I just wish they would have offered these gameplay additions/fixes with FC5 itself, and not a new game.

Which would mean they ruined it. But I didn't notice what you describe enemies doesn't seem harder to kill than in FC5, easier even.

Unfortunately that's not how physics works. The inertia of the bullet will still snap your neck when getting a direct hit from a high caliber weapon in the face, ballistic mask or not.

No bullet sponge, that is my rule.

It’s far cry. Not Arma.

You can still insta kill enemies in this game so I don’t get what you’re on about.
Me? What are you on about? You said they have more health and can't be killed by headshots.
