I have an Intel Compute Stick available for free, just pay shipping. Model BOXSTCK1A8LFC. Everything is included but I wiped the internal storage and don't have time to track down the right distro to reinstall.

This came preloaded with Ubuntu 14.04 and I blew the recovery partition away. Linux device support for the built-in wireless and NIC is a bit spotty, but newer versions of Ubuntu should work.
I'll take!

I'll take all the 462/A stuff. sending you a PM now.

I paid $35 for this on clearance back in 2017. My loss, your gain.

This is still available, FYI.

Kind of a long shot, but does anyone have extra GPU cables for the Enermax Modu82+ series?

wow, unexpected love for socket 462, a lot of PMs to sort through

I think a lot of us started exploring enthusiast grade hardware in that era. I know I did. Would love all that stuff for sentimental value but I have no real use for it at this point. Great for retro gaming though if you have some old AGP cards.

If other people already sent PMs before me, I don't really "need" any of it. I already have a bunch of socket A stuff. Just trying to save it from being thrown away.

Free pickup or pay for shipping (USPS Priority B) from 97007.

Tyan K8 Thunder Pro, S2882-D Dual Opteron Mobo with IO Shield.

Free local (Knoxville, TN) pickup--Deepcool Tesseract ATX case (black with blue accents). This is the ventilated panel version (not the windowed version). It's new in the box. I purchased this a long time ago for a build that ended up getting canceled. The postage on this would be a killer, so unless you want to send me a shipping label that's already paid for, this is only available locally. The case looks like the picture below. CLAIMED

please be patient on me going through the PMs guys, I'm really trying to NOT sit in front of the dammed internet all day

Does anyone have any use for an old Amazon Dash button, or should I just toss it?

Hi everyone! Looking for some DDR2 desktop ram. Pretty sure mine just gave up after 12+ years if I'm understanding this memtest correctly. Thanks!20190217_011350.jpg

According to the errors, 3475.6MB is going to be a stick farthest away from the CPU. If you have four sticks, it will be the fourth one, if you have two, it will be the second one.

Remove the stick and run memtest again.

Looking for a mini ITX motherboard. Does not need to be working, using it for mock up on my case I am modding. Anything that is standard for factor will work. When it's done a Z270 is going in there.

Thanks!

Wow thanks, didn't even consider doing that. There are 4 1gb sticks. I took the furthest one out and am running the test again.

I have some 1GB and 2GB DDR2-5300 I can send

I appreciate the offers. Let me finish the new memtest and see where I stand. Maybe I should try and max this baby out, says it can handle up to 8gb ram.

Edit: Two of the four sticks have tested bad so far. Testing the last two now. Either way, I'll pm you guys to see what we can work out.

Alright, this might be a risky post, but hear me out, lol... I also have an immense amount of Kingston DDR2 ECC RAM on eBay. They are all pretty beefy sticks with heat spreaders. It's been on my ebay forever... If anyone wants to make a decent "shipping charge offer" on them, they are yours... I also think there is another box of more of these somewhere closeby them and I'll throw them in too, lol. I'm just downsizing and I know it could mean the world to someone :D

Here's the link https://www.ebay.com/itm/264089048546

Feel free to PM me to chat first.

You may want to change your listing because those are not DDR2 ECC modules, they're FB-DIMMs, a completely different memory technology. You can't physically plug these modules into a normal DDR2 slot because the key notch is in a different location.

Unlike regular DDR2 memory, which uses a parallel drop memory bus, FB-DIMMs use a buffer chip on the module to communicate with the memory controller over a serial link.

The reason that they've been on Ebay forever is because nobody can use them. They only went into very high end servers and workstations that were only on the market for a short period of time. FB-DIMMs were never very popular because they were incredibly expensive and had latency issues because of the buffer chips.

WOAH.

I just did some more reading on them. I just got schooled. Wow, man thanks for letting me know. I guess I never really knew what I had. My apologies. I never heard of this technology.

Welp, to the trash you go.

Yeah, they get misidentified quite often because it's such an obscure memory standard that looks so similar to DDR2. The key notch is only off by a few pins compared to DDR2, so if you don't know what you're looking at, they can easily be mistaken.

I've had to learn about obscure memory because I work on so many different machines spanning decades. FB-DIMMs aren't the first memory modules with an identity crisis, there were plenty of others like 5v EDO DIMMs which were identical to 3.3v 168 pin SDRAM DIMMs with the only difference is one of the key notches was moved 2-3mm. All of the pins were in the same place, so a determined user could plug normal SDRAM into a 5v EDO slot and watch everything explode into fire and smoke. These weird modules were common in Apple Power PC machines, like the Power Macintosh 6400/6500.

I'd suggest keeping at least four modules in a drawer somewhere because you never know what you'll come across. I keep a few sticks each of dozens of types of RAM in small drawers because I never know what will end up on my bench.

recycle, DIMMs are #1 board down at the port man...thars GOLD in them thar pins

Copper.

There's gold in the bond wires in the memory ic packages, but not on the module contacts. You'll spend more in chemicals and equipment than you'll recover in gold, and you'll be stuck with hazardous waste at the end that can't be poured down the drain or thrown in the trash legally.

Seriously, don't promote this shitty industry, it's why we vintage computer enthusiasts have to pay eye watering amounts for old gold topped CPUs, because they're sold for scrap by the thousand now. And again, it's also toxic, most idiots that do it don't know how to handle aquaregia or dispose of it properly.

Heh. Do you have a table saw? Just take a broken uATX mobo and rip it down to 170x170mm! :)

(that's actually sort of serious, too--the mounting hole pattern is the same, as is the i/o plate)

I was not advocating doing it at home. Both the bond wires and the pin plating are a source, admittedly small, of Au.

Are you seriously saying that landfilling unwanted board is preferable to recycling to you? Do you not think that mining new gold has environmental impacts?

I live in a West coast port city, so YMMV, but I'm getting over $1/lb for current production board, more for older board and backplanes, it adds up.

I do and could, but the idea of plastic etc. hitting a spinning blade with my fingers in the vicinity urge my brain to pay for someone's broken parts ;)
