Metro Exodus drops tomorrow, and reviews are going up all over the web. I've already heard several high-profile sites claim that it's the "best single player first person shooter" they've played in years. Personally, I like to wait (at least) a few days for developers to patch up AAA releases, but if you're ready to jump into Exodus now, 4A Games just posted the game's unlock times on various platforms. Unlike other recent FPS releases, this launch is relatively straightforward: Metro Exodus unlocks at midnight, February 15 wherever you are on consoles, and at 00.00 EST on all PC platforms. Thanks to cageymaru for the tip.

The Metro devs also released the final part of their "The Making of Metro Exodus" series, which you can see here.

The final addition to a three part documentary series filmed on location in Kiev and Malta at 4A Games' two studios as they put the finishing touches on the upcoming Metro Exodus.

When i get home tonight i will be having steam download the new civ 6 expansion.. and the preload for metro. Gonna be a busy.. fun 4 day weekend

Its certainly hard to tell from demos, but this looks even more linear and on rails than the first two.

I'll be playing this one quite a bit this weekend. Would have pre-ordered, but don't have a video card atm. This is looking like my game off the year. I see there is a new patch improving DLSS clarity to.

Metro will get a day one patch which will improve DLSS over the review code:
  • Tuned DLSS sharpness to improve image quality
  • Updated learned data for DLSS to improve image quality with DLSS on
  • Fixed blurred UI when DLSS is enabled
https://www.metrothegame.com/news/patch-notes-summary/

and just think of all the extra excitement that could have been had if it wasn't for a bullshit exclusivity deal...

I never understood this love for steam. Damn all the developers for making a game that is badass and want to make some profit and not have to pay up the ass steam fees. Do people play games for steam or games for the sake of games? Everyone wants to boycott stuff if its not on steam, instead, no one wants to tell steam to start competing and lowering their fees. No if they screwed over everyone who bought on steam that would be a different story. They all will get to play and get their updates through steam.

Don't enable dlss man. Its a blurry and articfact mess. There are reviews of it on guru 3d and tech powerup. I decided to not even touch dlss after I saw the images. Talk about blurry everything out. Not sure what card you are getting. I got a 2080ti and I am not even going to touch dlss after what I have been seeing lol. Raw power it is.

I think the biggest issue is really the timing. If it was a month, or more, from launch I doubt people would have been all that mad, but it was announced within a couple weeks of release after they spent quite a bit of time advertising it as being on Steam. The timing for the announcement was really shitty and it is going to make it really hard to trust anything Deep Silver says about release platforms for their games in the future. Valve has become an anti-consumer company and Steam needs good competition, but Epic needs to work on their timing when it comes to these kind of deals. Buying exclusivity at the last minute is not a good thing and only serves to make them look like assholes.

Yea but its 10 bucks cheaper there lol. I'll take that over my love for steam.

And just like when steam started up everyone shouted about the whole "you don't really own games now" and won't support that kind of control scheme and needlessly making profit. After a couple years epic store will just be not a big deal.

I do agree the exclusivity deals happening last minute does leave a sour taste in the mouth.

Did you even read his post? He said there is a day 1 patch that improves DLSS from the review code.

I mean they could have given gamers a choice between platforms instead of forcing people to use an inferior one.

Do I take their word for it now? I am sure they will fix artifacts but blurriness is not going anywhere. I don't have any brand bias. People think I hate Nvidia yet I am rocking a 2080ti. But I just call it like it is. I still think more cuda cores instead of dlss or more tensor cores dedicated to rtx would have been a better customer experience then DLSS stuff.

I'll wait for fitgirl repack

I haven't pirated a game since I was a kid in the early 90's swapping floppies. Ever since I grew up I realized I felt that the developers deserved to get paid for their work, so I've been buying everything. (That and the advent of Steam made buying games so easy, so why not)

That said, the thought has crossed my mind for this title, just to stick it to Deep Silver. I still probably won't, because I am a man governed by my own ideals.

I still would get pleasure out of sticking it to Deep Silver though.

As I said I am no one to tell a developer how they should maximize their money. Steam charges 30% fees that is a lot. Instead, they dropped the price $10 since they get lower fees there. I am sure if Steam wanted to charge less fees it would be on both. Honestly they put a shit load of work into this game. I really can't hate on these guys to make some money back.

I feel like this fight over platforms is silly. Developers should be able to sell the game where they get the most return back. Who doesn't want to get paid for their work? I know I would.

Developers do deserve money for their work but is the publisher doing what's best for the developers or are they just trying to maximize their own profits?

You're also assuming everyone who would have purchased the game on Steam will just go ahead and buy it on Epic.

The game has potentially lost a huge number of sales by not being available on Steam. Wouldn't maximizing profits mean allowing the game to be available on other platforms besides Epic? I guess only time will tell with the sales figures.

If they wanted to maximize their money they should have released it on multiple store fronts. You don't sink all your money into one stock or bet on one horse. Which leads me to believe that there is more to the story. I assume it has to do with propping up Epics storefront for publicity purposes.

I am not fighting steam vs epic. If I like a game I buy where it’s available. I honestly don’t bend over for steam or epic. It’s only because people love steam over a game. Which is true. Which is something I would never understand. May be metro is willing to stick it to steam for their crazy fees. Steam needs to sort of wake up and compete. This is only going to get wors. Steam is losing out on revenue too. It’s a two way street but I think at the end people will buy and let the game speak for itself. Those who want to pirate are looking for an excuse to do it. I respect the guy few posts above who wouldn’t pirate it because of his ideals. But those who are threatening just looking for an excuse.

Like I said. Steam charging 30% vs 12% or so on epic store is the reason. If steam wants to compete they can lower fees. This won’t be the last time this happens. I think steam is in for a fight and soon they will realize it hopefully.

We've already gone through the Steam vs Epic charging percentages, In the end, they would still make more money on Steam.

People don't play the game for the "End in end" anymore though, this is the now generation, gotta have it now , now , now.

This isn't a developer decision, its a publisher one. Deep Silver made the deal and decided to do this, it wasn't 4A Games' choice. Given the choice I can't imagine 4A wouldn't have wanted it on multiple stores so more people have a chance to buy it.

I am looking forward to this game as well, but it will have to wait. still wrapping up far cry 5, now i got a new expansion for civ 6, and metro
Curious to how big of a game it is, at 39.95 it kind of worries me that it might be a relatively sort expansion or a microtransaction/dlc filled cluster fuck

I get the fees but you have to look at it from this viewpoint. Would you rather sell 500k copies on Epic alone or 500k copies on Epic and another 500k copies on Steam.

Putting the game on Epic only to force gamers to use another platform is only going to create spite and hurt their total sales figures in the end. The publisher couldn't care less in the end. It's the developers that are getting the raw end of the deal.

Also, you're right. I won't make any excuses about piracy. I'm not buying the game at all.

Oh no it'll have Denuvo. Give it 10 days until it's cracked with faster load times and better frame rates.

You do realize that cracked games still have Denuvo enabled, right? The cracks trick Denuvo into thinking the game is legit, they do not remove or disable it. There are no real performance differences between legit and cracked versions of most (as there are some that do disable the DRM) games. The only way to get better load times and potentially (entirely on a game-by-game basis) performance is if Denuvo is removed via a patch.

You simply don't understand the scope of the issue. I don't mind competition for steam. I mind bad competition for steam, which means bad things for us.
