We ran a news item last week that pointed to WCCFTech and its story telling us that Micron will be manufacturing "Octa Level Flash," a.k.a. "OLC," in Q1 or Q2 of 2019. Micron has contacted us directly to refute the reporting by WCCFTech.

Micron is aware of the article published on Feb. 8, 2019 in WCCFTech and confirms that its content is fabricated. The company will not comment further. Micron is a global leader in memory and storage solutions and will continue to drive innovation that delivers value to our customers.

So it would seem that if you were expecting to purchase some super-dense OLC NVMe drives any time soon, you may be waiting a little longer.

This development does not rule out development of the next gen Sixteen Layer Cell flash or SLC, not to be confused with the much older and 16x worse Single Layer Cell flash.

I'd be happy with sexa cell flash...

Is it unusual for a company to contact you directly to refute a news story? Seems like a Big Deal.

The biggest news from Micron is they are the sole maker of 3D Xpoint now that they called away Intel's portion of the JV, this Octa Ram thing was as fake as someone yelling "maga country".
