The [H]ardForum Perpetual Freebies Thread

Free to good home, $15 shipped in US (priority box)

Giga-byte P4 848 motherboard with AGP 4x/8x slot, IDE and SATA, comes with 2.8HT CPU and 256MB of ram. Works great but forgets the BIOS setting when disconnected from power. Comes with manual, driver disc, decal, etc. Purchased it new, housecleaning. Yes the battery had been changed. Run it as is with the date defaulting to 2005 or just reset the date when it is powered up. Will run Win95 (have to run speed patch)

there is a bi diode thing that looks like a tiny transistor that is probably damaged. this is an e z fix ig you are good with a multimeter and tiny soldering.

well this will certainly come in handy for whomever inherits it from you.. ;)

Ended up with my Abit BX6 V2.0 with a Celeron 1.0ghz (slocket adapter) 256mb PC-100, Voodoo 3 AGP with a 40GB Intel SSD in a removable 5.25" bay dock. For SATA drives it has a adapter module that plugs into the IDE cable. Pretty snappy for ATA-33 interface, but then again only running Win9x and W2k.

You want to feel old? I purchased this motherboard and voodoo 3 new 20 years ago. I have some backed up e-mail on Netscape 4.7.

Oldest e-mail is 1997 so far.

Still looking for any 775 boards, 1155 board, DDR3 RAM and a old GPU that doesn't require alot of power.
Hey man, I got you :D It's from an HP/compaq I picked up from the curb back in August. It should still work.
CPU is an E5300 pentium d. It is included as well if you want it.

Hey does anyone have 1 or 2 metal case fan grills lying around? Looking for 80mm and/or 120mm.
Yo Dawg, I heard you like fan grills. I put some fan grills within fan grills so you can fan grill while you fan :D
Let me know what you need.

Furious_Styles YGPM.

If anyone has a spare pentium pro, you would be my hero. I uncovered a dual socket pentium pro board and the second socket was unoccupied. I believe socket 1 is 200mhz. Ooh the options! Thanks guys!

I think they have to be the same stepping to pair up, might wish to check first.

Oddly enough, look what I have on the bench yesterday.

Hello guys

Im looking for a reference NON-blower cooler for R9 290. As I know pcb is compatible with 290x, 390, 390x.
Thanks in advance

Does anyone have like a half dozen to dozen old laptop batteries laying around? I've been thinking I would like to try one of those DIY powerwall things but wanna fool around on the cheap first and see if I can make sense of it

So you just want donor cells and don't care if they actually charge until you get the design figured out? If so, I actually do have at least 4-5 for you. PM me if you want more details on them so we don't clutter up the thread too much.

I'm actually going right by the post office in a couple of hours, so I could get them out today if they're what you're looking for.

edit: Batteries are on the way to Davan. Good luck with your project!

And in a super long shot, I need a mobo for a gopro 3+ black edition.. ;) These are apparently the same cost of buying an entire used unit. :/

Still holding out for an AM3 motherboard; needs to have 4 memory slots.

I got an Asus M2N61-AR setup here

Its an ITX thing, got 2G ram on it, CPU and HSF. Its a runner, had a bad PSU, some proprietary small form factor. I cut the plug off the PSU and built an adapter to get a regular ATX supply on it to get this girl's data off. She said she was going to buy a new PSU but never did.

Free for shipping.

Still available: Socket 775 matx motherboard + CPU.
The board is from an HP. tested board and cpu. It boots to bios and passes a simple hp diagnostic check.

Who ever pays for shipping first gets it.
This includes CPU, motherboard, heatsink and I/o shield. CPU is an E5300 pentium D.

Looking for H97 or Z97 ITX motherboard in working condition...!

Have working i7-4770S & 16GB of Corsair Dominator RAM; but on crappy ASUS OEM "mATX" motherboard, need ITX for smaller chassis...

Anybody need an older laptop? edit: claimed

Dell Latitude D505
Pentium M 1.50 GHz
512MB DDR (2 x 256MB)
40GB Hitachi HDD
Windows XP Professional SP3
*Does* need new battery, but works fine off of a charger (not included; I am using a higher wattage one from another laptop)
Probably needs new CMOS battery, as I've had to reset the time/date in BIOS each time I've turned it on.

Sorry for the poor lighting. Wifi works although it just disconnected and reconnected for some reason but I have a relatively noisy environment with multiple bands going. Has LAN port as a backup if the card ends up being problematic. Just pay shipping if ya want it.

great option for running special software/accessories that do best on XP. Sure someone will get it for that reason.

This might be asking too much. Anyone have a single low-capacity DDR4 stick (1GB even, can be 2666/ 2400/ 2133) for cheap or free? I can't find anything lower than 4GB sticks, maybe they don't make them lower?

Basically just need the cheapest of cheap (but working) DDR4. Have a friend that has a desktop computer that works fine once the BIOS is configured to run DDR4 3000, but if his CMOS ever clears/resets it wont boot again until he boots with 2666 or lower and then reconfigures XMP again and swaps back to the DDR4 3000 RAM. Unless anyone has a better solution. CMOS clear should be rare, but figured a spare stick for emergency boots might not be a bad idea.

if you dont mind asking, what board is that, Sounds like one I would like to avoid :/

I owe a couple people boxes, do not despair. Things are starting to return to normal, weather wise, and I made it out to pick up flat rate boxes. Stuff is tested and packed, try and get it out tomorrow.

The JEDEC spec for DDR4 specifies a minimum capacity of 4 GB per stick at any speed. There may be smaller modules that don't conform to the standard, but they're very uncommon.

Ah, gotcha. Well, either way, a 4GB stick is like $20ish bucks for a cheap one, which is all he needs so I think we'll go for that. Figured I'd ask here before going that route. Thanks!
