I just started steam and there are a total of 12 games in my download queue. There was nothing there last night. Has Valve rolled some kind of update?

some kind of bug I think. 5 updates for me and 3/5 were 0/0 bytes downloaded

Yeah looks like a bug. Had like 10 games showing an update for 340.5MB, but only one game actually downloaded an update rest was 0/0 bytes like above.

all my installed games, actually 23 showed a 202.7mb (exactly that) for all.. which it's weird, never saw that before, however the file only downloaded one time for the first game, then all udpates were 0kb..

also found this on the web:

Steam is just updating shared .NET, Visual C++ and PhysX libraries (see Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared).
They provide a lot of the system level functions that the games need to call out to to actually be able to interact with Windows. Back in the day, you'd need to have them downloaded with every game, Valve was nice enough to provide an abstraction layer so they're downloaded once, however that means the games have to update to the new path when an update for these shared files comes out, which is why there are tons of tiny downloads.

I had about 12 games last night and hit the download now button for each and they blipped by like nothing was downloaded. Glad others are experiencing the same.

Ah that has to be it, also makes sense of the 0 byte downloads after first game got a 300MB download where each game showed a 300MB update to be downloaded.

I had 80 games that required updates, PITA but I got through them, only a few actually downloaded anything significant though.

Steam really needs to step up their game.
one bug that never seems to get fixed for years is the offline friends list will show someone that has been offline for an hour but it will say 2 days for example. the last online time is pretty much always wrong.

Yep.

I know that bug.

I had 138 games update was weird. Then there was another steam update that followed shortly after.
