What are people using for local (not cloud) backup for Windows 10? I've got Terabyte's IFW suite which used to be pretty good but how does it compare with other software in 2019? I've seen EaseUS,Paragon, and Macrium recommended for home use. Should I be looking for something different?

StorageCraft Shadow protect desktop backup.

Imaged based and rock solid.

Approx $80 for home use, ITS BULLETPROOF. We use it on approx 100 servers for clients, I wouldnt use any other backup.

I just left a message on the StorageCraft website. I have been using Retrospect Professional for years, but the last release was so buggy, I've wasted too many hours on trying to debug my backup scripts. Fah!!!! I just hope that StorageCraft has the features that I need, like backup of multiple systems onto one system's backup drive, scripts and filters. If it does, adios Retrospect.

I am really digging EaseUS Todo even the free version. Searchable backups are sick. Makes me hate windows server backup at work even more.

Veeam Endpoint Backup. It's a lightweight and simple version of an enterprise product. I find it works very well and restoring is cake too. Hard to beat the cost seeing as it's free.

Windows 10 has a built-in backup and restore utility. It is the same app used in windows 7 that was not included in windows 8 or 8.1 It works well enough. I point it at my NAS, although you can use an attached external drive for a target as well. I have the computers in my home configured for a weekly backup, and I stagger them so they aren't all trying to write to the NAS at once.

I have successfully recovered a PC from the backup image that was saved. However, you need to keep an eye on the backup results because it is possible for the job to fail and you won't receive any notification of it. I had one machine that was failing for months until I took corrective action.

veeam agent for windows. it's free. can back up incrementally to local or remote storage. can restore files or bare metal restores.

Veeam looks attractive and we use it at work for VM backup. Any idea how it compares with Terabyte Unlimited's IFW?

No idea, sorry. Veeam rocks though - I use it to protect my win 10 workstation. Recovery image is on a flash drive. I got something f*cked up awhile back, so i plunked the flash drive in, did a bare metal restore and back in business. I do have a paid license to back up esxi guests, but that is unrelated to the free windows backup. They also have veeam agent for linux that I use to back up the boot drive on my ZFS storage server.

FreeFileSync for data, Macrium Reflect for imaging.

AMEN! I am using the same combo and it never failed me. FreeFileSync is such a great utility that is also actively developed with very frequent updates. It has saved me so many times.

The same with Macrium Reflect - great and reliable and worth the price.
