AdoredTV: What Is Zen 2?

Decent video, though no new information. It would be cool if 12 core chip can single-core boost up to 5GHz, but even with improvements offer by 7nm I can't imagine it would be easy to try to keep that cool.

About what I figured. And since he does ramble a bit, I'll pass on this one.

Just give me 8cores/16threads at 5ghz stable on all cores with a decent ddr4ram profile without having to do voodoo to get an oc and do 3200mhz, just for me to get 4.2 stable with 3200mhz was some serious headaches on the 1700x with several Bios trials.

i was able to use easy XMP profile for 3200 Ram on my 2600X and cheap gigabyte X470 motherboard ($140 Gigabyte ultra gaming).
Ram is much improved, but yes Ryzen 2 needs to bring up the cpu clock speeds

As its a chiplet design, I'd like to see more varied clock speeds like one chiplet at boost speed and one at base. :)

At least its clearer now that I'll probably want a Zen2 Ryzen9 rather than Zen2 Threadripper.

The number of cores isn't really a surprise considering what we know. 5ghz is the real speculation.

I'm sure that's been their goal from square one, not until final silicon arrives, not even AMD knows what clock speed will be delivered.

When they see that speed they'll set their price based off what Intel is gouging us for by then.

I expect if AMD gets 5ghz they will be priced even if not above Intel.

Haven't bothered testing new bios for OC, not after a dissappointing 3.825ghz @1.45v.

Surprising, the number of folks reading [H] who are bored with details of major but unannounced CPU releases.

AdoredTV can't win. When he breaks the leaks pointing to 12C 5GHz in December, everyone calls bullshit and "too good to be true". Now he pieces together more and more new evidence he's found for this - and it's "old news". Meanwhile nobody else (correct me if I'm wrong) is doing anything like this investigative work.

I've found pre-release speculation, guesses and leaks to be stupid for a long time. Maybe I just got burned by the whole Bulldozer hype not living up to reality when it launched, but I honestly don't give a shit about rumors or speculation anymore.

Talk to me when you have actual shipping silicon in hand and have properly tested it. Otherwise go away.

Yet you feel the need to post in every single thread dealing with it in order to announce to the entire forum how much you don't care.

Well, a lot of details were confirmed at ces, I haven't heard any new leaks (other than the engineering samples) since then. I like listening to what he has to say usually, but I don't feel like I'd hear anything new or interesting at this point. I might watch later if I'm bored, but I pretty much already know what his predictions are.

Not agreeing with him, or buying what he is saying is a valid part of the discussion.

If you disagree, that is fine, but there is no need to be a right cunt about it and resort to personal attacks.

Yeah, sadly he has a very thick accent that takes twice the effort to pay attention to and comprehend. He also rehashes a lot of the same shit repeatedly. I can see where this can cause fatigue among some of his viewers who then might react unfavorably with a comment or two. I stopped watching him for these reasons.

AdoredTV is putting the latest pieces of info into the puzzle, firming up parts of the picture that weren't even addressed at CES.

The poor guy probably thinks this is what people want - evidence to back predictions. Sigh.

My issue is that it's all rumor and speculation until AMD comes out with something official.

Now, maybe this guy is on to something. But I got no reason to believe him. As far as I'm concerned it's even odds that he's actually doing "investigative research" or just pipe dreaming out his bung hole and spewing it on youtube.

And when AMD is involved - the product almost ~never~ lives up to the hype.

I'd argue both generations of Ryzen and Threadripper that have been released so far have lived up to the hype pretty well.

And you're in this thread of "best guesses on Ryzen 2"... why? AMD announcements are on their site! Plus, you're choosing to refer to leaks as "rumor". Big difference, as AdoredTV explains.

Gotta wonder why these posts on investigative work draw so many Captains Obvious stating that we can't be sure until retail samples are tested, they'll believe it when they see it, or similar cliche'd negativity. Easy to spew (your term) but adding nothing.

Then maybe only comment when it fits your requirements?

Cpu is getting long in the tooth. If zen 2 can nicely beat my single core cinebench score and has 3 times the cores, why not upgrade? Winning the silicon lottery has its downsides but it's saved me a lot lol.

Sadly, there are far more people like this, than people who like to indulge in intelligent, educated best guessing based upon speculation, leaks and rumours. I just think how this forum used to be full of intelligent conversation regarding the latest GPU architecture or CPU. Talk of new features in the silicon, and advancements in technology in general...

However, I for one, are still very interested when something new happens in the PC market, as it seldom comes often enough these days.

And regarding Jim’s accent... Well, I have no trouble understanding him, but I could concede that people who do not have English as their native language could have problems, but I think being able to understand context and comprehending the information itself is the bigger issue here.

IIRC he was saying this would be revealed at CES, so it was "too good to be true" bullshit.

Still waiting for someone to post any new info from this video.

I am not sitting through half hour ramblings, for what might be 3 sentences of new info, or more likely just pure speculation.

I just watched the video. Not sure about a lot of the tech stuff, but now I have an irresistible urge to quaff a peaty single-malt, and I swear there's a bagpipe playing somewhere nearby...

Aye, and fucking Nessie'll be along shortly.

That is weird I thought the Pro carbon boards were really good, I know a lot of people went out of their way to get Asus - Crosshair 6 /Asrock - Taichi as they seemed to get the higher clocks and be a bit more stable than the others especially at initial release. Yeah the 1700 regular I can't attest to them I OC'd a few but never screwed with them enough to really really push it with that ram profile, initially on the 1700x the max ram speed I could get was around the 2900mhz mark with all cores OC'd, then after a couple BIOS updates I did a 3 day testing period/used Reddit subforum/and luck...……. Honestly the 1700x I ended up getting was a good one, not everyone is fortunate in the silicon lottery sometimes. Me personally I tend to get really remarkable CPUs, I had a Q6600 3.0ghz/Thermaltake V1 cooling it/1066 Corsair Dominator2x2GB/Striker extreme later an I7-920...but My luck with GPUs isn't as great, I don't get near the numbers some people do without it going unstable.

I've had the opposite effect. I tested a new BIOS for my CH Hero VI hoping they'd add an option to disable Bluetooth, like they do on the Heri VII. When I upgraded the BIOS I was then able to run my Patriot Viper RAM at 3200 and overclock my 1600X to 4.19GHz without any problems (Used to lock up, probably due to the memory not even being on the QVL List when I built the system)

As a current AM3+ FX8000 series owner on DDR3.. I am quite looking forward to new Zens. IT didn't really fit my budget to upgrade last year to Ryzen+/2000 series. But I am going to be budgeting for a mid-upper tier Ryzen 3000.. 12c/24t at like $350 sounds tooooo good to be true. But we'll wait and see.
