Destiny 2

I managed to get Le Monarque yesterday. I still can't get a decent auto-rifle or anything else really. I always get shit perks like "Firmly Planted" and "Moving Target" on the same weapon. I got "Sneak Bow" and "Hip-Fire Grip" on a Black Armory Bow a couple weeks back.
 
Odd run at the well last night. A pack of randos that, in the final battle, just clustered up in a corner and left me and another dude to the slaughter. Going to run again at it to hit the weekly achievement.. hopefully not a level 3.

That's OK, I did a Tier III blind well where everyone was dying every 10-20 seconds. I'm not sure how, but we made it to the end. Then, one of them charged the well with an Unstable Charge of Light, which brought out the Heroic boss. They had no idea how to drop the shield and I was left to do all the mechanics on my own. They couldn't control the adds well enough and it took longer to do the mechanics than it should have. Needless to say, that was a big fucking failure of a run.
 
If people were dying every 10-20 seconds then folks were probably underleveled for the T3 Well. I've been there before and boy it's not fun. It's crazy that someone dropped the unstable charge in at that point.
 
I wish blindwell had a single reason to run it anymore. Its actually quite a lot of fun spamming supers left and right. Dan_D holy shit when you have to solo the orb thing.. what a pain. I have had dudes who I throw it at to charge it at least throw it back at me so I can break the shield. That was the least they could do..

Again though, if you're not one immersed in the community Destiny outside of the game itself, I don't believe Bungie explains how things like that work well enough.

Highlights:
  • New super changes and weapon buffs discussed the past few weeks are happening on Tuesday's reset. So many buffs! (Personally super pumped to main my Voidlock w/ Novabomb again)
  • Mayhem returns!
  • Crimson Days coming back on Feb. 12 to the 19th.
  • Adjustment to holding on to Powerful bounties between seasons. This is a BIG deal and I would read the TWAB for details. Guess I can turn in all those IB bounties i've been sitting on... :-P

The WotW on their Instagram is incredible. Hell, all their Destiny props look amazing.
 
tried to play the Anthem VIP Demo today before work, couldnt even get past the loading screen at the start of a mission. After sitting there for over 5 minutes I had to force reboot my PC.

I still say Bungie is missing the boat on the Well. It could easily be THE hotspot for grinding, looting, and building best side of a Raid. I see similar potential on the Forges.


I've been there Dan D. Hate wasting those runs like that.

The Forges certainly are right now. You can farm armor and weapons almost as much as you want. Many if not most of the Black Armory weapons are best in class outside of a handful of exotics and special cases like Hazard of the Cast and Breakneck.

Well that Ascendant Challenge sucked. I forgot how much I hate platform jumpers. Only two tries to get up.

It took me three I think. The first time I did this particular one, it took a great deal more. I'd rather do the Whisper of the Worm mission than that ascendant challenge.

I have been doing it.

I saw with my own eyes what Whisper can do. Two guys had it in Bergusia and they smoked that boss so fast that my jaw dropped. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM... so fast because of the power. Crazy.
 
I just picked up the catalyst for mine. Also got a second Lemon Bow. I guess I'll ship it to another character since its at 650. That way I don't need to spend resources infusing one pulled out of collections at 630.

Its absolutely the strat for Bergusia. Boss wave, jump on the spawn platform, throw down a WoR if you have a warlock and have at it with Whispered Breathing (need catalyst complete). The beauty of Whispers never ending DPS is the White Nail perk. Hit three consecutive crits and it auto-reloads and doesn't' pull from reserves. Unlimited ammo if you keep hitting your shots.

I'm trying to fully upgrade the catalyst for mine. I'm at 10% from farming chests. Its going to be a long road.

I can honestly say in my entire time of playing both Destiny games I've never seen anything like it. I barely needed to get a shot off and actually stopped and just watched. These two wrapped that entire fight up inside of 30 seconds. BOOM...BOOM...BOOM...BOOM.

I need to at least top off DARCI as my consolation in the meantime. It's pretty good and the Black Armory Tatara is promising as well.
 
Ha, yeah the Whsiper really shook up the Power weapon meta when it was discovered. Nothing compared and it still in certain situations the king of pure DPS.

I would absolutely use DARCI in the meantime. If you scope in and hit 100%, it's per shot damage is actually greater. It's just the ammo problem and no auto reload on crits that makes Whisper preferable.

You need to be behind a rally barricade or in a rift with a Warlock wearing Lunas to never have to reload DARCI.

I've never been able to get a Tatara that didn't have shit perks. Moving target and hip-fire grip is an example of one I got.

Total mismatch and illogical perks for a gun like that. Mine has Outlaw and Genesis so I'm sticking with it unless I get a roll at some point that really blows my mind. I got lucky. I want to say it took me maybe a handful of rolls on it during the week the sniper was on cue.


Sidebar for something that deserves repeated plugs: DIM. Destiny Inventory Manager. It's very handy and convenient.

I'm also just doing it from farming chests. This weekend got me to 88%, so one week to go.

Also, you can get 6 chests per week, not 5, so 12%. You just need to kill the Oracles in the correct order after looting chest 5. With Oracle 1 on the left and 7 on the right:

First time: 135
Second: 46731
Third: 7316425

The 6th chest pops after the third sequence of Oracles. Make sure you have a decent load of ammo before you zone in.

First time you complete it you get the Blueprint for the Thousand Wings exotic "taken" ship. Basically the coolest ship in the game, IMO, even though they're entirely useless. To complete the Blueprint and, you need to beat the Heroic Whipser on Arc, Solar and Void singe so 3 weeks in a row as the burn changes each week.
 
Don't want to make a mistake here: If I roll a Hammerhead that I consider better than my current Masterworks one that also has a Obsidian Radiance mod on it... what happens if I fuse that Masterworks Hammerhead with all that to this new Hammerhead?

Unrelated question - armor sets. Is there a set bonus I am missing out on by not equipping everything from one set, or is my current "goodwill-esque hodgepodge" standard dress the best it will be?

I know I have some random one off quests that are "win a crucible wearing X armor".. but that's about it.

Apart from those specific quests that give you Powerful Gear that you mentioned and Purification Rituals/Triumphs that require full Reverie dawn sets, no, not really.

No overall set bonuses exist, sadly.

OTOH, if D2's endgame is actually fashion, having set bonuses would make everyone look the same unless they added a proper transmog system.

I definitely won't do it unless it's really an earth shattering improvement.
 
Not sure what you mean by 'print out'.. if you mean pull any amount of shaders I have collected (like pulling out an old gun or boots) then game on.. if not I'll have to eyeball it when I get home.

Yeah. I mean, I have maybe 3 or 4 fully masterworked guns that I completed myself (bunch more that dropped that way) so its not even close to being required.

I find it nice to do it once you have that "never going to be replaced absolute godroll".

The only two I did recently are my Blast Furnace twins:

PvE: Feeding Frenzy/Rampage/Meyrin/TacMag w/ Range MW
PvP: Snapshot/KillClip/Meyrin/DropMag w/ Handling MW

Full Curse week starts in a little over 2 hours. If you've been waiting for the Shattered Throne to come back for your Mysterious Box quest, today is the day!

Additionally, The Last Word is also making a comeback with a new exotic quest. I think i'm going to be jumping on that after my Scourge runs later.

Speaking of Scourge, Gladd and Chevy have now successfully beat the full raid with just 2 Guardians. Nuts.
