Does anyone know what's on the horizon for ≥32" 4k 144hz monitors in 2019?

I'm not getting 28" which is way too small for 4k and not paying $2k for gen1 garbage from Asus and Acer.

Anything from Samsung, Dell, LG, BenQ etc?

Thanks!

AUO is supposed to have a 32" 4K 144 Hz panel in production this year, basically to make a 32" version of the 4K 144 Hz G-Sync monitors we got last year. Since none were revealed at CES it's possible they have been pushed to later this year or to next year. Pricing is most likely high.

ASUS is making the 43" 4K 120 Hz Freesync 2 HDR600 XG438Q. On paper it looks fantastic and they had them on display at CES. Pricing unknown, but most likely pretty expensive but maybe not as bad as the PG27UQ screens. With Nvidia supporting Freesync this is the display that is on my radar right now.

With HDMI 2.1 (possibly next gen consoles as well) the much larger economy of scale of the TV market will likely be the big pusher in this segment over the next few years.

If you must buy now then you're basically going to be in the early adopter boat and have to face the issues of both both cost and compromise.

Seeing how many times the 30"+ displays were delayed if you wanted 1440p @ 144hz w/sync I don't see them cranking the 4k's out any time soon. Even if they could technically do it, the timing & demand isn't right for 4k 144hz. I think the major manufacturers are waiting on the next gen console releases.

That makes no sense, though, because these are monitors and not TVs.

I love how there's a new thread from a different person every 5 minutes asking about 30" displays, and someone's always there to respond "oh, the market's too small for it."

Yeah, everyone on the planet is asking about 30" displays every 5 minutes, but the market's too small for it.

This with the assumption that TV manufacturers start making TVs that are more desktop friendly. I don't want a 55"+ behemoth on my desk. Not to mention we have no HDMI 2.1 GPUs out either so I think you have to wait until next year for wider availability of both GPUs and TVs that support 2.1.

Dell Alienware OLED will have DP 1.4 connection on top of HDMI 2.1 so no need to wait for new GPUs if you get that monitor. But yes I absolutely agree with you I don't want to use a 55" as my daily display, I currently use my LG B7 only for playing games/watching tv but for desktop I personally just find it too big even though others have made 55" work for them. A 32" would be the sweet spot for me in terms of finding a balance between size and ppi.

Well the OP was asking for >32in.

But even if you do not buy a TV it'll have a ripple effect to the monitor market. Right now high refresh especially combined with 4k is still a niche and premium feature. The TV market will drive those down to a commodity level relatively quickly. It'll also drive down sub component costs as well.

If 50in+ 4k 120hz TVs are <$1000 you will not have a market for a 27in 4k 120hz display at >$1000.

If you aren't willing to to wait then well you pay the PC gamer premium manufactures want right now.

The internet amplifies minority noise, this has always been the case.

Also wanting something doesn't necessarily mean you are willing to pay for something especially due to the price it will be sold at which is why there isn't exactly a huge rush out to buy those new high refresh 4k displays or even the upcoming the BFGD ones.

The entire gaming monitor market for 2018 was only 5m units, this is after increasing by 100% over 2017. 4k TVs sold in 2018 is estimated to be roughly 100m.

I'm only going to list 4K (16:9) panels > 60hz and > 27", no ultra widescreen whacky resolutions:

1. AUO has a 32" 144hz FALD panel (IPS? "mini LED") supposedly shipping in Q1* so the usual suspects will be making monitors based on this panel
2. AUO also has a 43" 120hz VA (presumably non FALD) panel that is supposedly imminent, so others besides the ASUS XG548Q may release their monitors
3. AUO also has a 65" 4K 144hz FALD VA with HDR1000 that the nVidia BFGD / G-sync HDR partners will use, i.e. HP Omen X, Acer Predator 65, Asus PG65
4. Samsung 32" 4K 120hz VA curved panels ship Q2* so monitors in Q3-4? (Samsung themselves could presumably ship sooner if they are working on firmware and industrial design)
5. LG 32" 4K FALD IPS unknown hz, HDR1000 + BT2020 so probably G-sync versions will ship, Q4 2019*
[edit]
6. LG 55" OLED high-hz - this is actually an older panel, similar to the ones in 55" TVs, but adapted for gaming, I believe

* = manufacturer estimated shipping dates. They are almost always late. Also panel ship date and monitor ship date in the US are two very different things.

I'm also guessing that anything purchasable in Q1-Q3 2019 will not be HDMI 2.1 (either Displayport 1.4 and/or USB-C and/or dual HDMI 2.0)

If anyone knows of other panels that are 4K, 16:9, > 27" and > 60hz, please post!

There's a demand for smaller TVs and larger computer monitors that is not being met. That's the reality. A lot of people want 30" TVs, and you can't get them. This industry is really stupid, slow, and backwards. Displays are basically furniture. People should be able to pick ones that fit their dimension requirements. You shouldn't have to rearrange your house around a display. They really need to start thinking in terms of having a process where they can support personalization/customization and still remain profitable. I thought that that was the whole point of OLED (being easy to make weird different sizes of displays), but that hasn't been passed onto the consumer at all. It's like, if someone wants a 5:4 display or a 4:3 display or a 1:1 display, they should be able to get one.
