Blizzard Hiring Spree Suggests Diablo 4 Is Being Fast-Tracked

This is a direct reaction to the Bungie Split. This is one time an overreaction will actually benefit gamers in getting what they wanted sooner. If it's the great second coming of earlier diablo days, only time will tell.

What I hope to see from the next Diablo:

1. Starts with 100 years after Reaper of Souls ends, with an age of the reawakening of the nephilim and most new humans born being nephilim and having nephilim powers.
2. Suddenly, after a century of peace, a resurgence of demonic invasions starts, signaling a new offensive from Diablo.
3. A new MMORPG based on Diablo properties with more simple systems from WoW, and a much narrower leveling range, perhaps having a level cap of 20 to start off.
4. NO MOBILE!!!!!!!!

The Diablo series is already an RPG, and with recently added multiplayer support. Making it into an MMORPG is just the next logical step. I think it would make a great one, and Blizzard is the master as game lore, which is the bread and butter for most MMORPGs.

I want fast paced action, good story and deep usefull talent/leveling choices, not some fotm builds. Don't get me wrong I like wow (used to love it though) but we don't need a diablo wow clone in stead of D4, then they might as well give up on the franchise.

Now if they want to give up on wow and replace it with another mmorpg, then they could eventually use the diablo universe for that, but that should be on top of the existing road map, not like they stopped making warcraft games when wow launched, a lot of people were still counting on seeing warcraft 4 but that one is still MIA.

What can big publishers do other than try to go along with the most powerful market trends? Are they supposed to just make games and not put in microtransctions / grinds / lootboxes? Really? Imagine the pressure these executives are under, have some sympathy. They don't have a choice except go for maximum exploitation and see how it goes. If they just made normal games that would eventually make them obscure and lose them tons of business. Just quit gaming and start juggling like I did. Much better way to spend your time. Club juggling is the best! Also learning hat juggling now.

I'm honestly amazed theyr'e allowed to, I imagine the vast majority of companies don't have that kind of freedom.
I thought the same. I'm wondering if they didn't have a some sort of "buyout" clause written into the agreement.

I’m loving every minute of this. Blizzard takes way too long to develope games. This is finally its chickens coming home to roost.

Unless D4 comes back to the original design concept of offline, single player as an option, I'm not going to be any more interested in D4 than I was in D3--which I did not buy and which I do not play. Still playing the original Diablo games for a hoot every now and then...;)

Rushing a game out the door. This is going to turn out swell.
It isn't all that difficult for large companies to build software these days. In the case of a game they just need to iron out the game design and create the corresponding art assets. They don't even need to make their own engine these days, I don't see why they couldn't adapt Unreal.

Blizzard are only slow at releasing games due to poor project management.

Meh.. Diablo Immortal only shows that they don't know what the fans want anymore. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I'm sure I'll be disappointed with D4. Blizzard doesn't have a clue anymore.
They know what most people are ready to pay for, fan or not is not important.
They will make money in China with their mobile Diablo.

I'm with you. I preordered diablo 3 is a sucker. It was offensively bad compared to the first and second. And no I don't care what change they've made since then.

And now they, allegedly, want to push diablo 4 out faster than a 5 alarm dump....because rushing games out the door has always worked so well.
Worse is Alpha/Beta were more fun and I've seen how they destroyed it over time before release. That was cringy but saved my money on this one.

I hear a lot of talk about Path of Exile. I played it. IMO its rather boring. :pompous:

POE is imo the Eve online of ARPGs. What I mean is, it is literally just a giant spreadsheet with a GUI. Now I certainly see the appeal of it and I've played it, but it isn't something I really enjoy. I recognize it is a good game, I just don't find it fun. Bear in mind this is coming from someone who played Eve for years.
