Did Logitech remove surface tuning from its software?

Just got a new G502 Hero mouse as a warranty replacement for my G502 and had to update the Logitech software to get it to recognize in it (guessing it's because it's a newer mouse). Anywho, the new software doesn't have the mouse pad tuning mode that the previous mouse/software did. Anyone have any input on this? I know it sounds kinda gimmicky and I'm not sure how useful it was in real world but I liked having it, damnit! Anyone else experience this?

Are you having issues with lift of distance (as in the mouse does not drop tracking low enough when you lift it to re-position)? Surface tuning was a hardware feature of certain Pixart sensors (in the case of Logitech the PMW3366) in which it was supposedly to optimize LoD (basically make it as low as possible) to account for varying surfaces (mostly hard vs soft). It has nothing to do with actual surface tracking directly.

Logitech's in house sensor (the HERO in this case) don't have that function as LoD is handled and optimized for differently (well allegedly). The new sensor line is supposedly derived from Logitech's work on their office type mice which typically had more design considerations for functioning with respect to different (and less forgiving) surfaces compared to gaming mice.
