Blizzard may have gone all-in for a legitimate Diablo sequel due to the backlash they received from Immortal, their ill-received mobile spin-off. The careers page currently shows 19 open positions, one of which calls for a “Quest Designer” that has PC and console experience.

Take a look at the various roles for the Diablo series and you’ll see that the company is looking for everything from artists to designers. There still hasn’t been any official announcement from Blizzard concerning Diablo 4, though a return to the series may be exactly what the developer needs to win back fans and inject a little stability into Blizzard.

They're going to have to shit Perfect Diamond's because I have lost all faith in Actiblizzards ability to make a good story line or game in regards to Diablo. Killing off Deckard Cain by a second rate, half baked Butterfly miniboss was the nail in the coffin for me.

I hope whatever it is, it is better than DIII. I enjoyed Path of the Exile a lot more. DIII was pretty, I'll give them that.

I enjoyed D3 at release except for all the login problems. After they patched it and made it easier I simply stopped playing.

I have a feeling that D4 could end up being first person using the same engine as Overwatch use.

Meh.. Diablo Immortal only shows that they don't know what the fans want anymore. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I'm sure I'll be disappointed with D4. Blizzard doesn't have a clue anymore.

It's disappointing to see a company that made some great games years ago turn into a steaming pile. The first Diablo is still one of my favorite games even after over 20 years I still play it from time to time.

I played D1 & D2 a lot - these were great games. I played D3 and its expansions, played through once. I found it more robotic than anything - it wasn't really fun (even though I probably put in 60 hours or so?). I was just looking for the loot box. I haven't had any interest to go back and play again.
D4? Meh. I might check it out after a while. Not really stoked about it. They need to go back to their roots.

It shows that they don't care what the fans want. They want a piece of that $50 billion mobile market. So they are catering to the Asian crowd who eats these garbage games up.

Just make a faithful, modern-day D1 refresh with no transactions or any of that crap and the same sense of fun and atmosphere and that's that - job done and it will sell like crazy.

I'm going to call it right now.

It will get 80ish on Metacritic but be slammed by player critics.
It will make over a billion in sales and be considered a critical success...
and be universally considered a piece of garbage.

I'm with you. I preordered diablo 3 is a sucker. It was offensively bad compared to the first and second. And no I don't care what change they've made since then.

And now they, allegedly, want to push diablo 4 out faster than a 5 alarm dump....because rushing games out the door has always worked so well.

Yeah, I have the Collectors Edition sitting in my storage closet, every time I see it, I scoff at it. Its like the uncle you dislike but every year you go to his house for Christmas in the hopes of reconnecting but all he wants to tell you about are his meth head ex girlfriends....:yuck:

I think Bungie separating from Activision is the right move, I think other companies should think the same.

I'm honestly amazed theyr'e allowed to, I imagine the vast majority of companies don't have that kind of freedom.

For me the next Diablo entry needs to be at least as good as Path of Exile.
Anything less and I don't even consider buying it.

Here are our options, a POS game fast or a POS game slow....

The game launched in 2012, it's too late now to be considered fast imo. Then again I started gaming when you had sequels every year iso every decade.

As for diablo, I did not care much for 1 and 2, surprisingly I realy liked 3, dont much care for Path of exile either, maybe make D4 a bit more grim dawn-ish

WoL (SC2) was the first/last Blizzard game I pre-ordered. Lots of production value, zero soul. Nevermind the fumbling with esports scene through HoTS. Even as a SC2 fan, LotV is just a shell of itself.

Blizzard already lost their magic touch then; and that doesn't even speak on the Diablo team. They never should've let WoW staff touch Diablo in the first place.

Blizzard didn’t do enough with D3, they should have been releasing an expansion every 6 months. There was enough story content to keep it going for a long ass while and they just let it stagnate. Making a minor gameplay tweak for season play every few months isn’t enough to keep an audience. I don’t know who has had their hand up the puppets ass for the last few years but it’s obvious they went on a smoke break.

I’m not so sure, what Bungie has been doing lately was fundamentally flawed and I am not sure Activision can shoulder all that blame. There had to be enough people in house that were convinced what they were doing was good otherwise half that stuff wouldn’t have been developed in the first place.

SC2 was the last game I preordered.... never making that mistake again. Though the bundles for Mechwarrior Mercs 5 look tempting as I have been testing the MWO waters.....

I fully expect a woke, diversity-infested lootbox nightmare. Can't. Fucking. Wait.
I don’t care what “woke” stuff they do or don’t include you can cram all the inter species angel/devil transsexual what nots into the game. As long as you don’t fuck up tue story in the process.

I am pretty sure Activision looked them over and he decided the goose is out of golden eggs. That and there is probably a back door deal in there worked out with NetEase as a middle man that they plan to get future titles fast tracked into the Chinese market.

Yeah seriously if they did that maybe taking some of the class systems from Dungeon Siege and a character leveling system like that from Path of Exiles they might have something.

how blizzard has crushed the korean scene for sc2 is just crazy i think... I think activision's soul has clearly bleed into blizzard's for years now..

A skill leveling tree like PoE without a respec option is a non starter for a large production game.

A skill system that you can screw yourselve before level 10 and and not realize until level 40 is trash. Or the fact you have to do research before playing the game to make sure you don’t Bork yourself. Herp derp you have to start over that’s what makes it fun.

PoE only works because it is privately held.

I hear a lot of talk about Path of Exile. I played it. IMO its rather boring. :pompous:

Agreed, but I said like, not a carbon copy of, there are a number of good hack & slash MMO’s out there and many do a unique thing that works. Much of it could be mixed and mashed into something great I just used those as examples.

Yes, I'd really like that. Grim Dawn has a foreboding atmosphere to it, something Diablo 3 lacked, which was a HUGE part of why Diablo 1 & 2 were so successful, imo. They pulled you in, you felt a sense of danger & fear of the unknown around every corner. Whatever it may be, Diablo 4 needs to return to the gothic / medieval themes that were present in the first two games. It also needs to have good character artists, especially for the enemy types, many of the enemy types in D3 were just disfigured bodies with gaping maws.
