For all the tens of us who still are on the Windows10 Mobile platform EOL is this year. Ugh.. I wasn't planning on dropping money for an Android this year, but seems I'll have to budget that in later.

According to Microsoft, those who are planning on sticking with a Windows 10 Mobile device can continue to use their handset as normal, but after December 10, those devices will no longer be serviced by Microsoft with security updates and bug fixes. Users will still be able to create automatic or manual backups of apps and settings until March 10, 2020. After that, there is no guarantee that those features will continue to work.

In addition, features such as automatic photo upload and restoring from a backup may stop working within 12 months after March 10, 2020. In regards to app updates, Microsoft says app support may end at anytime, as it is up to the discretion of the developer building apps that still support Windows 10 Mobile. It sounds like the Microsoft Store will continue to function after the end of support date on December 10, but there's no guarantee as to how long that will last.

Thus died a platform that Microsoft never properly supported anyway. The killed off their userbase from WM6.x to WP7, did it again for WP8 and now ends it completed with WP10.

I rail on Google for doing this too but at least it's only their apps and not the underlying operating system.

When I first read this news, I had the same reaction to hearing that Angela Lansbury is in the new Mary Poppins. Wait, she's still alive?!?

My Alcatel Idol 4s with Windows 10 Mobile replaced the Lumia 640 as secondary driver; keeping until around Thanksgiving/Black Friday.

No surprises here.

After much debate, I ended up picking a Moto G6 as my first Android device. Migrated all contacts successfully and installed the Microsoft Launcher and apps. I can play Transformers Forged To Fight.

Its disappointing for sure.
I got rid of my 950XL quite a while ago when app support started to drop off, however I honestly thought it was the best of all the mobile OS's by a margin

Had to retire my 640 also. Now on this bloated thing called Android or something like that

Well, damn. here is to hoping that the Surface phone becomes a real thing.

I would think so.. my Icon is going five or so years strong.. battery's solid. Camera and all that jazz works well.
