YouTube Bans Dangerous Challenges and Pranks Videos

I think the children one could be a problem because that could be miss censored as the problem is there's a difference between intentionally causing distress to someone and accidentally doing it but it was recorded at the time

YouTube has rolled out new Community Guidelines that will ban videos that depict dangerous challenges and pranks. Examples of dangerous challenges and pranks include, setting yourself on fire, eating Tide Pods, driving blindfolded, shooting a loved one for views, home invasion pranks, drive-by shooting pranks, and pranks that cause children severe emotional distress. Content creators have 2 months to remove content that violates Community Guidelines without incurring a strike against the channel.

The examples we've given are not exhaustive and we evaluate all content against our Community Guidelines when making decisions for enforcement.

Thanks Cagey! Can't imagine yet what the mass populace will find to embrace natural selection now.

While I can absolutely respect people's views on social Darwinism thinning the herds, unfortunately it's not really all that effective at doing so.

For me it's the nation of copycats we have, what the hell is it with "challenges", how about "look I fucking did this because I wanted to do it and I thought it was cool" whether it's building a coffee table out of reclaimed lumber or jumping off a bridge with a butt plug inserted into you that's tied to a bungie cord, whatever be your own person. So I fully support this ban, granted it does absolutely nothing for the THOT culture like talking to the camera while working out in the gym, but it's a start.

Seriously, people need to just be themselves.

News in 5 years: Youtube bans everything except calm, non-confrontational, child-friendly content.

Eventually all of the major streaming sites will be highly regulated because they influence people to do things they wouldn't normally think of doing, especially the younger generations.

Aw come ON! Why discriminate against positive evidence for Darwin Awards?

Youtube should address why do they allow their ideological partners to delete dislikes and dissenting comments.

Youtube bans challenges and dangerous pranks, yet continues to allow murders, violence and a ton of other heinous videos out there... fucking hypocrites.

Really? I am not sure what you mean by that. I have yet to see someone lining someone up and shooting them. I am sure youtube doesn't have a policy that says murders are allowed on youtube. Common!

People do dumb shit. Birdbox crap? Really? idiots shouldn't be given a platfrom to promote stupid shit. This world is going to shit as we we know it anywyas.

Cop shootings, gang fights, stonings in the middle east, stabbings, you name it and it's on YouTube by the tens of thousands.

The truth is this, yes there are dumb asses making a fool of themselves and putting themselves or someone else in harms way , but don't sit there and tell me YouTube is taking the correct approach when at its core, Youtube is as fucked up and demented as these individuals they're targeting.

Don't believe me? Search what I mentioned yourself.

Flagging this petty stuff(such as the birdbox challenge), then make an announcement about it, but NOT focus a campaign(and make it be known) on what should most certainly be considered as much more disturbing and inhumane content that is on their platform today, is what I'd consider as comical.

Birdbox challenge? Ha, how about burned victims, or people getting brutally beaten by bats, kids fighting just to make views, beheading videos, cops screaming for help as they've been shot over and over again, soldiers stabbing prisoners to death and so much more.

Same shit happened when pewdiepie said one racist word or phrase(out of humor) out of the countless hours of videos he has, then YouTube makes it be known he is pending a ban because of it, yet no direct targeting of the true racist videos that are swarmimg on Youtube.

Political correctness is hilarious with these guys and the general public. As long as it stays out of the main headlines of the media, YouTube doesn't care. Fucking hypocrites.

This should be an interesting roller coaster ride... I'm really just wondering how far they will go. For example:

"pranks that cause children severe emotional distress" I'm all for not giving a platform to people that would truly abuse kids, but what constitutes severe emotional distress? Do the Jimmy Kimmel christmas pranks count?

Wow...now that is a shitty thing to do for a fucking quick laugh

Cunt parents

Don't excuse my language

Doing this at xmas is just shit

May be because I don't go looking for that stuff. The world is dark place. Honestly I turly afraid as where we end up as society. I honestly believe Russia is slowly destroying the very fabric of democracy. I read about this book Foundations of Geopolitics that every Russian general reads. Its textbook execution of inforwars and how to destabilize the united states with hatred and instilling religious and racial divisions by uplifting racists factions. How United States should be consumed with internal problems. Pretty much how they used social Media. It has guide on what should be done like United Kingdom should be removed from European Union (aka Brexit). Literally, if you read the articles on the translation of the book it is text boot of what's happening in the U.S right now and Britain.

It's pretty nuts how social media has been used to divide and gas light people politically and used as a weapon. You are right a lot of shit is politically correct. But people aren't really doing a great job at owning up to their responsibilities. People tend to support their political bias these days then what's right or wrong. Believe it or not I think the world is going downhill it seems, I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps going like this.

To me social media has been used to ripped apart society as one of the former facebook executive said. Its like a drug that people have to consume now.

Banning dangerous activities on Youtube? About time...since they've already banned "dangerous ideas".

That's great until they actively unperson you, destroy your livelihood and conspire to to keep you from even building an alternative for yourself.

Keep telling yourself "It won't ever happen to ME!" until they come for you...

You're Laura Loomer, aren't you?

Maybe because those are different? Because those things happen regardless of Youtube, not BECAUSE of Youtube. You honestly think people would dump a bucket of ice cold water on the head if there wasn't a camera there to get evidence that they did it? You put a camera on people are they are more likely to do shit they wouldn't normally do, like fire a gun at someone who's wearing some phone books as body armor or whatever.

on the one hand, it sucks we can't watch stupid people fuck themselves up.

on the other hand, it's good that they can't earn any youtube ad money for stupid low quality content.

Im ok with it. I miss when youtube wasn't so bogged down with this attention grabbing click bait. Im sure these morons will go find somewhere to hurt themselves for clicks. Given time Darwinism always wins out.

Challenges and pranks is pure dumba$$ fodder. But there is (or was) some very dangerous health advise on youtube. There was a case of a video about a body detox procedure that stared with drink a gallon of soy sauce. Soy sauce is mostly saltwater. A woman tried this; put her in the hospital, nearly killed her.

Chubbyemu medical monday is one of the best channels on youtube.
