Jensen Huang dumped a lot of information in his Q&A session with the press, and Game Debate spotted another interesting bit in the lengthy session. Nvidia's CEO claims that their higher end Pascal gaming GPUs are either sold out or almost sold out. As far as I can tell, reasonably priced GTX 1080 TIs have disappeared from the US Amazon and Newegg storefronts, and while there are still some 1080s, 1070 TIs, 1070s, and 1060s in stock, that might not be the case for long. VentureBeat posted a full transcript of the event, including the comment about Pascal stock.

Question: Can you tell us more about your problem with excess inventory and how that will be resolved? Huang: It’s completely a crypto hangover issue. Remember, we basically shipped no new GPU in the market, to the channel, for one quarter. But the amount of excess inventory and market demand, channel velocity - you just have inventory divided by velocity, and that’s time. We said that it would take one to two quarters for all the channel inventory to sell out. 1080Ti has sold out. 1080 has sold out. 1070 has sold out. 1070Ti has sold out. In several more weeks 1060s will sell out. Then we can go back to business.

It was, to move the old pascal stock. Hopefully with it gone, we'll get a price decrease, but realistically they wont reduce the prices unless forced.

I'm afraid the only thing that would cause Nvidia to lower their prices down to reasonable levels would be AMD releasing a competitive card for less. Unfortunately if the Radeon VII details is any indication of future releases, that won't happen this generation.

This guy is full of it, 1070 1070ti and 1060 are in stock and priced high. Maybe he is referring to the founders editions or some thing.

I've seen 1070ti cards for $350 off and on for the past 2 months. By now you'd think they'd drop to $300, and the 1070s to around $250.

I see GTX1060 still being a problem.
1080TI, 1080 is all sold out in my country.
1070TI doesn't move at all, and won't unless it goes to 300-350$ (rough conversion) 1070 and 1060 doesn't sell well when better performance is cheaper (RX590) so who cares about power consumption at that point!

I'd say one of the biggest issues is that the 1080 class is the big mover in my country (we're a bit rich, winters are long and we need entertainment Inside!)

The demand for 1080s was insane. I sold mine on ebay before christmas. Sold for $350

Jensen is trying to appease investors, there is no going around cloud gaming, even if it's sux, the industry will switch to it, simply because it's cheaper, convinient, and a continuing stream of revenue based on subs, high latency won't stop them, they will get it to playable state then hand it over.
all you are going to need is a low end apu, so when ppl will see 3k$ intel/nvidia rig to play a game, that works fine in a 100$ AMD nuc with 50-100ms more latency...surely nvidia will lose alot of business.
i hope their IA is working on diversifying their portfolio, because the futur of nvidia isn't too rosy.

I'm not buying a "cloud FPS", old games live on.

sorry wrong topic, meant to post it on the other one.

the old prophecy says that the Radeon 9700 Pro would return in glory to save his people when the time was most dire. I can only hope that he soon releases in a new, more powerful form to save us- at a competitive price point as before. HALLEJUJA!

I wish. I'm pretty sure Navi is going to be mid-low range to begin with and not until end of this year or early next year. Not sure we'll see a 9700 pro unless intel's new gpu comes out swinging, whenever that's supposed to come out.

I just checked online on the Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace Stores and their is a very healthy stock and for some reason these cards are only $500 to $600 LOL ......... and, the same performance as a RTX 2080 / Radeon 7.

And before someone says the Radeon 7 beats the RTX 2080 ... no, no it doesn't, that was just in one game lol.

Anyways.

Ignoring DXR, and all things being relative (high prices not going anywhere), isn't the new RTX 2060 a pretty good value at $350?

A quick glance earlier had me thinking the 1070 and Vega 56 aren't worth buying new with the 2060 hitting shelves.

He's talking about from Nvidia's perspective. Think manufacturer > wholesale > retail dynamic.

" In several more weeks 1060s will sell out. Then we can go back to business." Should read "Then we can go back to overcharging our customers."

And why would they be priced high? Because stock is depleting and they're still in high demand.
Unless it is one of those 3rd party seller that never bother to reset their pricing during the crypto high, I do see those in Newegg and Amazon and not really representative of actual pricing.

Welp EVGA site no longer list the 1080/ti, there goes the last bit of hope of picking up an additional 1080ti FE at normal prices.

Yeah it's crazy. Nvidia executes their gameplans better than anybody in tech, but they are looking vulnerable as I've ever seen them stock price wise. High end DGPU sales look like they peaked (in terms of volume, revenue maybe the same with price increases) the one market where Nvidia's excellence in execution always meant an uptick in revenue since they have only one competitor that can't compete. The mid end DGPU, AMD looks like will compete hard with NAVI and the low end might be taken over by APUs. The other large growth market DataCenter has fierce competition so Nvidia can't predict future there so neither can investors. The reason Nvidia has to pay attention to cloud gaming because doesn't matter how well you execute you still need to go where the customers are.

Well, even AMD itself is saying it will trade blows with the GTX 2080. And that's with their own benchmarks.
Their own benchmarks don’t mean much right now. We have to wait and see real-world performance.

Are they new?

1080Ti's and 1080's are pretty much gone everywhere, except maybe the 2nd hand market, however every brick and mortar store around where I live seems to have 1070Ti's 1070's 1060's and 1050's for days (figure of speech). And a quick glance online has most mainstream retailers are in a similar state. Now this stock could just be the last spurt before its all gone, but I am not too sure about that.

Of course there is always a possibility that he is only talking about FE cards sold by nVidia, in that case he wouldn't be wrong, just not telling the whole truth.

Are they new?

They don't need to be new. I've bought more used video cards than new.

If you cannot educate yourself, research your seller, know what your buying, know what to look for, etc etc .... then perhaps you kids need to just stick with expensive and new.

AMD's new $800 Radeon 7 only beat the nVidia 2080 in one game out of 20+ something. You guys can go and google this. Some AMD fanboy put a spin on this and made it into something it wasn't

Still using my 970 with no plans as of yet to buy one of the overpriced 20's

I mean you make valid argument for the 2070-2080ti cards.. But the 2060 is priced well and performs really well for its price.
