whats your budget ? maybe get a surface go if you need windows ?

Well the budget would be limitless if it's possible to get a gaming tablet that uses windows but anyways I want something that's Def 1080p long battery life and good gpu that can play some games.

Got a few conflicting requests there.

What kind of games are you looking at when you say "some"? There's a big difference between, say, Solitare and Crysis.

Also, do the games need to run on the pad, or are you mostly looking at using this around the house where you could stream the game (say, Steam in-home streaming or nVidia GameStream/Sheld style)

A first or second generation Surface Pro would work nicely. Not great battery life, not great GPU performance (Intel), not really a gaming machine obviously but either of them, or even a third gen Surface Pro with the fully adjustable kickstand would offer everything necessary and any of them can be found on eBay for under about $300 these days. If you want a really powerful tablet with gaming capability then you're gonna be paying a princely sum for one, probably $800+ and there aren't many to choose from because they'll be in 2n1 convertible format and not a true tablet (no physical keyboard).

It'll either be a flip-style convertible with a fully swivel hinge thing where the keyboard section can fold back around the display assembly or it'll be a style where you can separate the keyboard and display and just have the display/tablet section.

It won't come cheap, that's for damned sure.

Not intense games but games such as megaman 11, hollow knight etc. Stuff I can play on the go or while on a plane. And no I don't need to stream at home as I have a powerful desktop pc hooked up to every TV in my house lol. 800 bux is nothing if it can do what I said above at 1080p. Btw ive never tried but i don't think my current tablet can play any of the games above? lol

What about an iPad?

iPad is going to have the best mix of performance and battery life, and has a pretty large selection of games... but it's iOS and will never be Windows.

I think your probably going to be looking at a Surface or one of the convertibles.

I wouldn't get too hung up on screen resolution - yeah it's important, but I wouldn't hinge my entire purchase on just that metric alone. Most of them are going to be something non-standard just because they aren't usually 16:9 sized.

A Surface Go as I just mentioned in another thread might be a worthy choice. Even the low spec model with the eMMC storage gets great reviews, and while it's got an 1800x1200 3:2 aspect ratio display it's still a worthy item to check into.

i tried the surface go at the microsoft store the performance was pretty impressive based on the specs.

So is there a such thing as a gaming capable tablet that has windows? My tablet has been acting up and won't hold a charge really annoying

no the surface go or pro are the best windows tablets

Depends on the games you're talking about and yes I read the OP and the follow-up post about a few named games so consider this: if you want to play Android-based games but not on a smartphone you can actually use something like BlueStacks to do it and it usually works pretty well given the significant boost in performance that an actual desktop-class machine can offer given the limitations of the laptop-based processors and GPUs in use.

The only way you're going to know if the device is acceptable is buy one, use it, test it out, and if it's not up to your requirements then return it and give something else a shot. If you're looking for a tablet with a discrete GPU at a reasonable cost, I can't point you to anything except perhaps a used Acer Switch:

Putting a discrete GPU in a tablet form factor is very very difficult considering the heat generation and the need for proper cooling while not really having the space inside the chassis for such additional hardware components. Intel GPUs nowadays on newer hardware (like 6th 7th and 8th generation Core technology) isn't so bad. No it can't match a true discrete GPU from Nvidia or AMD but then again the games you're speaking of don't require massive GPU performance anyway.

What is a better buy out of the surface go or pro or the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition? Also noticed alot of these tablets came out 2017. Is there nothing new on the horizon for tablets that are capable for Windows gaming?

As I just stated, designing and actually manufacturing a tablet form factor device with a significant amount of graphics power by way of a discrete GPU from either AMD or Nvidia is going to be a very expensive process and of course that means you're going to pay a hefty premium for such a piece of hardware.

If your focus is going to remain gaming then either you wait for some company to produce such a piece of hardware or you take what's already available such as the Acer Switch series.

All I'm doing is hitting Google and doing searches for tablet form factor hardware either as a discrete tablet or as a 2n1 style model of some kind with the discrete GPU capability and there honestly just that aren't many on the market and not that many on the way.

Think of it like this: gaming on the Windows platform traditionally means having a mouse and having a keyboard to be able to play the game. The idea of playing games on a Windows platform device strictly by touch is something that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense given that they are designed to have manual input by way of keyboard and mouse.

If the focus is so much on gaming with a tablet form factor device perhaps an Android-powered device would be the best solution, and if that's not what you're interested in then you're going to have to do research on your own to find something that you consider to be acceptable.

As far as its CPU power, the actual processing power of a given tablet form factor device, there are quite a few of them out there that are significantly powerful even though they're based on laptop technology more than anything else. But I'll say it again: putting a discrete GPU into a tablet form factor is not an easy thing to do from a manufacturing or even a physics perspective because of the heat generation.

What's on the market right now is probably about the best you're going to be able to do; you're simply going to have to make a choice of what's available, read reviews, and then go from there.

There is an entire forum which is based on tablet form factor devices that I would highly recommend you go over to and read as well as possibly join and ask the same questions, it's called tabletpcreview.com and if there's any place on the Internet you should be asking such questions related to tablet form factor hardware, that's the best place.
