der8auer busts the "extra power delivery pins" myth of the Z3XX chipsets

man that guy's insane but so glad there are people out there like him willing to do tests like this and the 9900k delid/die sanding test.. ultimately not surprised at all by the initial results that the pin change made no difference, what was surprising though was that he was able to cover 69 of the pins and still had a perfectly running 5Ghz overclock with no issues.

Yeah cool that we get confirmation on this. Guess they aren't willing to support more than 1 gen + the refresh before making you buy a new board.

i can still remember the apologists coming out in full force when z370/z390 was released, claiming that Z170/Z270 VRMs would burst into flames and sockets melt immediately with the new CPUs. good thing guys like roman exist.

Der8hauer didn't show what you claim (He only showed that he doesn't understand this topic). And the money-grab 'theory' is the true myth here.

"discussion" is a relative term here, let's be honest ;)

i7 6700K, i7 7700K, i7 8700K, i9 9900K could have been all on one chipset, and this would have been possible if we had competition from AMD earlier.

AM4 is supported until 2020. I have a feeling 10th gen CPUs might be supported on Z370/Z390 chipsets because of AMD's 2020 support of AM4.
