As anyone who's spent more than 5 minutes on the site probably knows, there's a lot of toxicity in some of Twitch's more popular streams. But Blizzard is apparently testing a system that links Twitch chat to Battle.net accounts in order to create "a more positive viewing experience." Starting today, the linking system will be trailed in all Overwatch 2018 Season 3 quarterfinals matches across all regions. Blizzard didn't specifically mention how linking Twitch to Battle.net will actually improve chat, but the implication seems to be that punishments for infractions on Twitch will have more impact if the repercussions extend to other accounts. Thanks to PCGamesN for the tip.

To link your Battle.net and Twitch accounts, log into Twitch, visit www.twitch.tv/settings/connections, and select the “Connect” option under Blizzard Battle.net. Users who try to chat with unlinked accounts will be met with an automatic reply and prompted to link their accounts.

My guess is they're going to require you to have a linked B.Net account to your Twitch account to chat in official Overwatch League streams and create a cross ban system to discourage people from being assholes. Sounds like a bunch of snowflake shit to me.

They got to find someway to stop people talking about how Blizzard looks like a company collapsing.....

So how long before non Overwatch twitch chat in a linked account gets you banned if anyone is offended anywhere?

One of the best parts of Twitch chat is the crazy toxic and inappropriate things that are said/trolled. Fuck off and take your feelings with you.

I remember when Assholes Gaming Downright Questionably tried some chat shenanigans and people like Trihex hosted a stream just so people could chat about it. Wasn't even rebroadcasting or hosting the stream, which I'm sure Twitch could use as an excuse to takedown such streams.

Can anyone explain to me twitch chat?

I don't get it, 3000 9 year olds spamming images. There is no "chatting" involved in twitch chat.

Twitch administration is a fucking joke. There's a plugin going around that creates an alternate chat for Twitch streams that admins can't do shit about and I bet it deflates their justice boners just knowing about it.

Remember when Blizzard was an innovative company putting out top quality games? Pepperidge Farms remembers!
