Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

So any word on expected PTU?

The December 7th date for Concierge and Subs is wrong, that just happened in the afternoon today. Open PTU should follow next, no ETA on it tho.

When is this game coming out? It was supposed to be released in 2016 and has been in production since 2011. There is no way this game is going to live up to it's hype.

Latest PTU patch adjusted mission payout upwards across the board.

Simple delivery missions that used to be 200-400 credits now pay 1k+
ScreenShot1303.jpg

And the longer the distance the higher the payout
ScreenShot1301.jpg

Mercenary/Bounty hunting missions are also pretty decent as you can just chain them over and over without ever leaving your ship

Really enjoying the 3.4 PTU, definitely some nice improvements however it does come with its share of bugs. I CCU'd my Freelancer to a Max and couldn't be happier. It will hold two Tumbrils. :)

Driving around last night on Ita then leaving, a few glitches that can easily be corrected. Please ignore the sloppy takeoff!

They also added the CitizenCon mission and it pays pretty nicely. You get sent to the outpost and have to clear it out. There are 3 AA guns on the surface and inside the bunker (take elevator down) there are 8 hostile NPCs.

3x AA guns@1000 uec + 8x Hostile NPC@500 uec = 7k maximum
Most of the time you'll find the guns already destroyed so you get only 4k uec but given how close these bunkers are from Lorville (90Km or so), I think you can just camp the place and keep killing the NPCs in the bunker which are rather pushovers right now. The only actual threats to worry about are other players since it's a weapons free zone.

i really want to play again but cant login thru the rsi laucher. I can log in thru a web browser and look at my account just fine. Ive reset my password 6 times now and accepted 3 dozen policy notices but cant sign into the launcher...if i can give my 35 dollar POS ship to someone thru the web browser just let me know and its yours.

I got to check out the new freelancers, 600i variant and hawk before they switched it over to open PTU. Soon as they do that, they revoke access to the new stuff. A shitty move IMO.

The MAX seems really nice, it's a fat bird with lots of space. It's main problem is...why not get a Taurus for the price? The MIS was kinda funny to take into vanduul swarm, complete overkill with 28 size3 missiles. Meanwhile the DUR has the least space but will probably be awesome in the real game with more variety in what it can do.

ScreenShot0158.jpg ScreenShot0159.jpg
DUR vs MAX cargo holds.

Hawk is just weird. It's in a bad spot like the Herald where it's main reason for existing hasn't been implemented yet. Meanwhile you have an average-to-bad fighter with a lot of small size weaponry.

Send that POS to me and I'll fly it for you. ;)

Or you know just reinstall or something. You could email support to ask wtf is going on.

dont give away your ship just because you cant login.. i mean the game doesnt run on my laptop it keeps using the igpu instead of the 1050ti, but im not going to give up my ships because of it.

If you haven't played in a while you'll probably need to install the latest version of the launcher

I had that same login issue. If you haven't played in years, like I hadn't, you prolly forgot that the website login is NOT the same as the game log in. Dumbest fuckin setup I've ever seen.

Here's some pics of the new business district. It's half-museum, half-commercial area. All the weapons on display are purchasable. The 'stock market' looking area has terminals for buying/selling trade goods from your ship.

3.4 PTU opened to all backers on Saturday, live release not too far away.

Like I mentioned earlier chaining bounty hunting missions is extremely efficient. The only limiting factor on your ability to make money is how good/fast you are at navigating between the different locations they send you (usually Covalex orbitng Daymar, Kareah orbiting Cellin and all around the Yela asteroid belt).

I went as fast as I could and managed to complete 13 of them in about 20 minutes for a total of 37544 UEC. You can go at a fairly leisurely pace and still make about 100k an hour.

One thing to note, there are also bounty hunting missions around Hurston and its moons but they only pay 1890 UEC (compared to the Crusader ones @ 2888) BUT Hurston has the 7000 UEC merc mission on the ground so it may balance out in the end. I'll have to test that later.

ScreenShot1311.jpg

Thats a lot of UEC. Haven't had luck with missions last few patches where I tried lol. Looks like they get some things cleaned up. Now if my hornet is super again I'll have to give it a whirl as that looks like a fun bout of combat.

And they keep on adding well paid delivery missions.

7438 UEC
ScreenShot1322.jpg

8925 UEC (this is currently the highest paid mission in the game). Now if you also combine that mission with some standard cargo trading like picking up some Medical Supplies at Olisar (you may as well make the stop there to refuel) and sell those at the final destination, Tram & Meyers on Cellin you can easily pad the entire trip up to 10k in earnings.

Nice, I've avoided those due to bugs with getting cargo in the ship and getting it to / from the NPC's but looks like its time to try em out again.

Fingers crossed performance is not chopppppppyy lol.

Is that in the live build now?

Also, is there now mission givers in the lorville as seen from the gamescom demo they did a while ago?

If so, where is that old man that gives u that mission in lorville?

Is anyone really surprised by this? Last December when they started to talk serious about SQ42 to me it sounded like they were just beginning to work on the game.

My god, so we're looking at another 2+ years for the game to come out. What will that be, 9 years of development in total? Even if they actually hit a deadline for once? I see he's still trotting out the lines about how they just don't have the resources of EA, etc. Must be rough only being given ten times the budget and triple the amount of time you said you needed. I wish my work projects worked out like that.

New ships added:

600i Touring: Main difference from explorer version is it does away with the internal lift and adds a laerge lounge as well as 4 rooms for guests.

600i Touring lounge.jpg

All 3 Freelancer variants: MIS (Missile boat halves the carge of the base model), DUR (Long distance explorer), MAX (thicc ass cargo variant with double that of the base model)

Anvil Hawk: Bounty Hunter ship

Anvil Hawk 2.jpg

Reliant tweaked to fix some issues and streamline cargo interior.

3 new mission givers Wallace Klim drug dealer deep inside Levski (Im in the background wearing one of the new shipjacker helmet/armor that were added)

ScreenShot1315.jpg

Clovus Darneely (Old man from the CitizenCon demo you've already seen), find him at Waste & Reclamation in Lorville. He gives you the mission to recover datapad from the downed satellite.

Constantine Hurston (has an office above the trading floor pit of the Central Business District in Lorville)

Constantine Hurston.jpg

Added a bunch of missions all around Hurston and its moons with payouts increased across the board.

One small but notable QoL tweak: You can now perform quick actions on interactable objects/dialogues. For example to open a door you aren't forced to hold F and then click the "Open" text interaction prompt. You can now simply look for the highlight and tap F and it will open. This does not replace the current system but is an addition to it.

Oh and check your mobiglas equipment manager, everyone should have gotten some festive armor choices ;)

JumpPoint issue 06.12

Well I was having a very frustrating issue for several patches, where if I was sitting in my cockpit, and pressing F, I couldnt look around with the mouse, but could with the joystick.

I tried everything imaginable. I stopped playing for a while, waited for 3.3.5, then 3.4.

Finally figured it out - my damn joystick is slightly triggering when centered, so I had to increase the deadzone of x/y lmao.

So glad I figured it out. I couldnt understand why I was having the issue but nobody else was. Now that its fixed, I've been having a great time in 3.4

I really like the cooling changes for the quantum drive. Was frustrated that jumps were only making it 5m k before dropping out until I overclocked my coolers. Finally have a reason to overclock stuff now!

I also picked up some military grade shields for my Titan Avenger, so hopefully she'll take a little more of a punch. B grade military instead of C grade Civilian.

Also, whats a good way to tell the difference between the coolers and quantum drives? The ones Ive looked at are all the same grade/class... so does that mean theres no real difference between them? Or does each one have fine nuances that make it slightly better in some cases and worse in others?

Damn that sounds like it was pretty frustrating, glad you figured that one out.

Yeah the groundwork is being laid out for deeper control over your ship's systems and components. Individual items will wear out the more abuse (read overclock) they sustain as well as from normal wear and tear. Engineering is meant to be a viable occupation and knowing the details and subtleties of components is going to be a pretty valuable and bankable way of playing the game.

The next steps are physicalized components and after that the ability to modify/overclock them and ultimately sell them.

Yes, it will. Can't wait for the higher grade stuff, it's gonna open up a lot of upgrade progression paths for your ship(s).

Instead of giving you a piece meal answer I'm going to give you the data straight from the source. CIG released API access to their internal database and someone took that and published it on starcitizendb.com

This comes straight from DataForge and is continually updated as major patches are released.

Coolers:

Quantum Drives:

If you want to immerse yourself in raw data feel free to explore that site, but keep in mind that none of those values are final and will continue to change as things are balanced and iterated upon (HINT: You can pretty much throw out all the flight performance data because we're getting an entirely new flight model with 3.5).

Anyone having trouble getting 3.4.2 patch to download / install? I'm at 3.4.1 (1039815) and not pulling the (1036777) that the patch notes say is live...

Edit:
Closing RSI-Launcher (and instances in task mgr), going into %Appdata% and deleting all RSI-Folders solved it.

Ow, that ruins the whole point of the differential patcher… Hopefully whatever was borked is fixed now.

Nice.

Pretty much all the shots are actual places you can go to from different vantage points/perspectives. The only things added were the exaggerated fog/clouds of Aberdeen (it is cloudy and the atmosphere is pretty turbulent if you fly down to the surface but the clouds/gas churning is not as dramatic as shown there) and Arc Corp which is not in the game yet (coming with 3.5 at the end of Q1) but the shot looks like one of the released WIP updates.

Aside from the standard way by landing at station or port and rearm on the pad, nope. That's why they put the ballistic gats on the top/dorsal turret since it has the best view and unobstructed arc of fire, but once it runs out of ammo the thing is pretty much useless.

The rest of the turrets had M6A laser autocannons that, while having relatively slow rate of fire, pack a pretty big punch. For comparison sake, the standard loadout 447 Rhino laser repeaters of the hammerhead do 190 dmg per shot, and the M6A laser does 1145 dmg per shot. The best part is the slow rate of fire allows you to overclock them and they are able to sustain fire for longer than the default repeaters before overheating.
