Fallout 76

Tested out the power armor cores trick and it definitely works. Went from 5% to 100%. I'm going to power up all of my cores that are at 5-10% if I can. Hopefully they don't patch that out today!

You know what' sad? I'm far too lazy to do that to the 15 I have, even though they could very well fix that in todays patch.

Fucking hell.

My wife said today's patch was pretty small. Only like 80MB. She's on a semi-shaky Wi-Fi connection and the last patch took hours for her to DL. She didn't have time to test anything out, though. Guess I'll find out tonight.

I guess she went home to play on her lunch break and carry weights are now bugged as hell. Oh Bethesda, I'll pray for you.

Fallout 76: Inside the Vault – December 4, 2018
As we approach the end of 2018, we have a few more details to share with you about our current patch schedule. In addition, we are excited to announce that, starting in early 2019, we plan to release a variety of in-game events that will take place over the course of a week. These events will be different every time, and will often provide a small buff or create an interesting twist on normal gameplay.

Upcoming Patches
While “Inside the Vault” articles won’t always include information about upcoming patches, we want to continue to share details about our current schedule and what you can expect through the end of this year.

December 4
Our latest patch will be released today, bringing a 50% increase to your stash storage limit, and applying a number of bug fixes, balance changes, and other improvements. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the patch notes before you head back in-game following today’s maintenance. At approximately 3GB on consoles and 36 MB on PC, today’s patch is significantly smaller than the prior update on November 19.

December 11
We’re still on track to release the features and improvements we discussed in last week’s article, including new settings for PC players, C.A.M.P. improvements, and the ability to respec your SPECIAL points after level 50. This update will also include a new C.A.M.P. feature we’ve been referring to as “Bulldozing”. Any actual bulldozers that once existed in Appalachia have long since become useless hunks of metal. However, you can still use this feature to clear out rocks, small trees, and other debris to help make building objects easier than ever. This will happen automatically as you build on top of, or very near, these obstructions. We hope this patch will help your C.A.M.P.s feel more like home.

December 18
We hope to provide one more patch mid-December. This patch will continue our focus on stability and other concerns raised by the community. We’ll keep you updated about the status of this patch as we close in on December 18.

As always, please continue to share your feedback about the game with us. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, your thoughts and discussions have, and will continue to be, incredibly helpful as we make Fallout 76 the best and most fun experience possible.

We’ll see you in the Wasteland!

Not sure, vid ram usage is like 20% higher for me now. Frame rates have been steady for me since last patch, but I will say, things look a bit cleaner(?).

I am already getting bugs when running. Shift doesn't apparently register in game so much.. wtf..

Update - Out of all the times in this thread that I've defended this game, I had zero issues with it. At least nothing major. Now? Can't even turn off sprint, fuck this patch until this is fixed.

There was a second patch that rolled out later yesterday. Not sure what it fixed, but I've had no major issues. My weight was off when I started the game, but it still let me quick travel and that seemed to fix it.
You can still regen power cores by logging out and logging back in.

Performance wise, I find that the game runs butter smooth 99% of the time. However it can bog down in areas with large structures that keep you on the main map. For instance, most large buildings end up having doors that take you to a separate level. However there are a few that don't. The pharmacy supplier east of the original Overseer's camp and the Asian temple in the northeast are examples. Both of those are large and have multiple floors, but they keep you on the main map. On launch day those had MAJOR performance issues. My 2080 Ti would drop into the 30's. Now they only seem to drop a few FPS if any at all.

Yea I am having a Carry Weight issue too. It almost seems like some of the cards aren't working? Frames seems A LOT better, specially in the enclave for me.

My Fiancee did have an issue that she couldn't even login at first, it kept CTD. She had to make a new character, then logout of that one, and log back in to her original one.

Some of the people submitting tickets to get their replacement Fallout 76 canvas bag have encountered a surprise: they’ve been given access to parts of Bethesda’s support system, including the ability to open and close tickets, as well as check out customer’s personal information.

Oh Bethesda. While I'm willing to defend the game as being better than people realize, they're making a shitload of other mistakes.

Looks like Bethesda is about to feel the wrath of the gdpr. Not to mention the fact that this last patch has not been well received and has apparently broken more things than it fixed.

What a glorious mess this is.

Any word on what last night's spur of the moment hotfix actually fixed?

It was apparently for people that were having borderline instantaneous crashes to desktop. My wife's machine was doing that earlier in the day. I don't think it did anything else.

I still can't get out of sprint.

I can walk only and sprint.
Not over encumbered, or whatever.

This patch does suck.

Funny thing is even though the game and everything around it is a giant hot mess, I'm still playing and having fun.
I'm fortunate to not have experienced any smash my keyboard bugs or have been a part of the bag/support ticket fiasco. There are plenty of horrors stories out there.

The lows Bethesda has reached, acknowledged, and shrugged off with that power edition nonsense is ASTONISHING.

I very much hope they get what they deserve.

I played the B.E.T.A., only for about 2 hours since the hours they had the servers up didn't work well with my schedule, and overall the performance was terrible and I didn't feel really engaged with the gameplay. Ran into a couple of d-bag's who were just berating and cussing at all the other players, really left a sour taste in my mouth. I don't have anything against swearing, but why be a dick just for the sake of being a dick? Had no intentions to pick this game up anytime soon after it launched, but after reading how many people in this thread actually enjoyed the game I decided to give it a shot. Picked up a CD key from ebay for $43. Played for about 6 hours total so far, and the performance is definitely better, but still not that great given how dated the graphics look. Haven't ran into very many players so far, and as a result the world feels dead and rather boring. Did they add a push to talk function yet? I just completely turned off the voice chat. I am also always near or at the limit of my carry weight which is annoying. Feeling kinda bored with it so far to be honest, but i'm going to keep playing. All of the enemies as super easy to kill, which also adds to the boredom a bit, never feel a sense of danger, at least not so far.

Enemy difficulty is interesting because it's based upon the levels of the players that are currently on. At least partially. Some low-level areas are always somewhat safe.
Once you go a little east of Morgantown, you'll start to encounter extremely high level enemies that get tougher and more aggressive since the higher level players and quests are over there. Encountering a bunch of putrid glowing ones battling assaultrons and a Behemoth is pretty scary stuff.
I find that most servers seem to be mostly full, yet the game feels empty because the map is so huge. Even if there are a dozen other player running around, that's like 12 people running around Manhattan. I'm hoping that over time they'll allow for more players per server. It should probably be at least double what it is now.
Can't say I've had any issues with open mics, though. I've generally found most players to be silent. I know I don't use my mic unless my wife and I are coordinating. Occasionally I'll hear someone else or encounter players chatting, but I've had no negative interactions thus far. I've generally found people are happy to work together and occasionally even drop supplies, although there are definitely some scavenger and cutthroat types.

I'm still having fun with the game, although as more time passes it does feel more and more "empty." I get what they're going for, but it's kind of lame knowing that the survivors are always either dead or are robots. The thrill of discovery isn't really there once you encounter a skeleton or masquerading robot for the dozenth time.

The change to .308 ammo is kinda lame. Rifles are super strong for the first 10-12 levels, but they start to suck afterward. The difference between a maxed out level 5 rifle and a level 30 one is only like 10 damage. The only reason they're even still worth using is because the ammo is common. At this point you might as well just melee everything.

I haven't played yet but from the footage it seems like 90% of the enemies are melee anyway.
Trying to shoot enemies at point blank is a PITA.

It depends. Super mutants, scorched, and mole miners tend to attack in groups. About 1/2 of them are carrying guns. If I'm using a rifle and they close in, I just use hip firing. In fact, using a scope is generally not that great of an idea. Open sights are way better if you're surrounded and you're still somewhat range limited even if you're using a scope.
You'd think shotguns would be better, but they're even weaker than rifles. Point blank they do about 40% of the damage a melee hit would have done.

I find shotguns easier to use at close range, many of the faster enemies have some hit detection issues with semi-auto rifles where it looks like you hit them but you actually didn't.
Frankly the separation of weapon perks along semi-auto/auto lines is pretty bad - you generally want to use different types of guns for different engagement distances (a hunting rifle for initiating a fight, then an assault rifle when the range shortens, etc.), but the game is set up to force you to specialize in only a single type thanks to stacking perks.

Yeah, the only gun I put a scope on is my silenced sniper rifle. Everything else gets reflex sights. The damage drop-off for distance on shotguns is pretty ridiculously short, so I pretty much never use one. Plus, I managed to score a decently modded Level 15 Handmade Rifle in a random drop just before hitting Level 15, so that's definitely my main skirmishing weapon.

If you stick with a semi-auto receiver on your assault rifle, though, you get the advantages on both weapons.

I used a level 5 hunting rifle that I modified all the way for a looooong time. I was probably around level 25 when I finally found a better version, and even then it was only a few points better. I stripped the scope off of it and put glowing sights on instead, though.
I used to used it for everything and would only swap to melee once tougher enemies got close. There was a brief period where I had a decent shotgun (and enemies seemed to take damage from it), but it's back to sucking in spite of being level 30 and maxed out.

Right now (I'm at level 32), I just use the Black Diamond like 90% of the time and just keep repairing it. I'll bust out my rifle for distant sneak damage kills or for enemies that won't engage, but that's basically it. I've found some decent machine guns and assault rifles, but they're all level 40 so I can't use them yet. I have those stashed away just in case. I also have a railroad spike gun that I have yet to use thanks to scarce ammo. I'd love to use missiles on occasion, but they weigh too much to be practical.

I just got a subscriber email blast 50% off coupon code from newegg that included F76.
Impending price drop?
My price threshold for dumpster fires is sometimes that high for franchises I have enjoyed in the past.

Not being on Steam probably reduces the likelihood of deep cuts.

My game has been freezing at "Exit to Desktop" since launch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you're on a small SSD, it's worth checking your crashdumps folder here and there as those dump files can add up thanks to FO76.

Apparently it has now been fixed, but if you've been playing for a while you might check your C.A.M.P. storage. I had 15 copies of every item in my camp. Those dupes will keep you from being able to build anything else. I moved my C.A.M.P. to the mountains on the eastern side of the map after being based near the Gorge Bridge for a long time. The game definitely pushes you from east to west for the most part.

Chuckle , this shitshow is the gift that keeps on giving.

They've been working on the Widescreen support patch and it's "been looking great in their labs".

After a month they "patched" in the .ini edit that a modder had done for a temp fix.

My favorite comment is the currently most upvoted ,

"Wow, Bethesda really are testing the "any publicity is good publicity" theory to its limits"

There's a cure for that. Battle Royal - Fallout 76 Style !

On another note... This game, to me, is more entertaining because I DON'T own it LOL Watching all these Bethesda shenanigans is like watching an M. Knight Shyamalan flick. You just don't know what direction it will go, or how bad it is. Moment by Moment :)

Possible lootboxes coming.

Looks like it might just be an xmas event (prize boxes or whatever) which would be nice.
I've also been seeing rumblings about the game going F2P, lootboxes might coincide with that. Still probably too early for that even if they were considering it.

Converting the game to F2P might actually entice players to play the game. Even for $43 I don't feel the game is worth the price I paid. Sucks that I had to pay for admission, but if it will help boost the player base then I think it might be a step in the right direction. Right now it feels too "dead", in my opinion.

I'm def not buying anything on the Bethesda store again....

(They don't give refunds on digital purchases, unlike Steam for example)

Also, the game is running worse now since it crashes on exit EVERY TIME.

.... I wonder if someone has spotted Todd Howard at Whole Foods or something and been like: "Hey.. Hey you!! Yeah you... motherf**ker!"
