Is there a Power over ethernet plug system to where I could 4 or 5 of them to connect to the main internet switch located in the basement? I looking to hookup a Fios cable box, 2 smaller fios boxes in guest bedrooms and a wireless access point? All the ones I see just come in pairs which I currently have three of. I just want to consolidate into one set of 5 or 6 of them from the same company. The wiring in the house is less then two years old and I get really good throughput on the ones I currently use like the one hooked up to the Xbox in the living room.

Thanks,

If you pick one brand of kit as the main adapter you should be able to buy expansion kits which will sync to the original adapter.

I currently run three TPLinks POE adapters and they all seem to work with each other. I'll pick up another set. According to the TPLink site, all of the adapters are backwards compatible.

Thx for the info.

I think you're asking about ethernet over power wire. The ones that plug in to the existing power outlets in your home and transmit ethernet over those wires. Aka powerline adapters.

"Power over ethernet" is something different. I'm not trying to criticize. I just want to be sure I understand what you're looking for. If it's the powerline adapters, Netgear seems to have some pretty nice ones. And, they have an option that includes a wireless adapter here: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-PowerLINE-1200-Gigabit-PL1200-100PAS/dp/B01929V7ZG

I always use the two as interchangeable when dealing in the home. At work, all of our WAPs are PoE hooked into a dedicated switch via a fiber link.

totally not interchangeable... i found this post super confusing... much better to refer to it as "powerline networking" and there is no real industry standard, that's what's so obnoxious about powerline networking...

i know ubnt was looking at providing a robust powerline networking solution, but it was expensive, not sure if it ever made it to market... i used a monoprice unit for a number of years for a camera out in my garage and it worked great...
