Far Cry New Dawn

Armenius yep smells like clever fake. Tries too hard to hit obvious internet-outrage touchstones; title unimaginative and expected. The artist(s) that did the Far Cry 5 cover had way more talent and creative subtlety.

But it would be funny on the chance Ubisoft's trying to turn internet outrage on its head and exploit it for advertising.

That is a incredibly good looking fake to me. Either way we will find out today.

Yeah, that looks pretty real to me. If so...ugh. No thanks.

I think it would be a mistake to use yet another mountainous nature area for these games.

I didn't say it was fake, just that it's bait. Could be a fake, but I also mentioned Ubisoft's marketing tactics with FC5. Remember how pissed reviewers were that it didn't provide comment on today's sociopolitical climate in the real world?

I'm fine with it. I appreciate how much FC5 pissed off 'tards from both sides.
Actually FC5 was as neutered as can be. It went out of it's way exactly to not piss off everyone. The subject matter was ripe for great dark storytelling, yet they avoided anything too controversial. It should've done much more with the subject matter. I think it would have been impossible to write a less thought provoking story about religious fanaticism.
I was very excited for it, but in the end the story was one tenth as good as I was expecting. And it played exactly like Ghosts Wildlands, except everything in it was at best slightly worse. The Graphics, the gunplay, the AI, the physics, and all other game mechanics.
And the ending was adding insult to injury. It's not enough to make it out of nowhere. Because you can have beanstalks coming out of the skies and giants climbing down and eating everyone at that point.

Launches either tomorrow or february (physical and digital are different dates).
There are pre-order bonuses listed, so most likely not tomorrow. :p

I can dig it. They've made two villians that I already want to kick the shit out of, and I can't wait to see what they do with the story.

So are you going to be the deputy again, Joseph Seed, or random new person?

I think you should be Seed and be out to twist the world to meet your visions, but that's probably not a thing. Would be interesting though.

You're right on point here. It's meant to ruffle feathers and get attention. Crazy times we live in when video game publishers have adopted GRU tactics.

I think they're being smart. By being over the top with it, it takes away the fake-controversy machine's power.

People don't seem to realize what an outright for-profit industry that manufactured outrage has become. It's a real thing. It generates site traffic and YouTube views/subs. And unfortunately, when that's the business model, then when no real controversy exists they will find it necessary to invent it.

Looks pretty lame to me. Seeing how lazy Far Cry 5 itself was I don't have high hopes for this. I think the silly humor and dudebro theme the series has taken since FC3 has wore thin as well.

It seems it is FarCry5 with replaced villains. I don't want another no-win situation in my life. Warren Spector written it as video game design law in the nineties: You never put the player in a no-win situation!

And what was far cry 5? A string of no-win situations. So no, fuck no. They can go to hell as far as I care. This just seems to be more of the same, with even more annoying villains than brother joseph was.

The Fallout...see what I did there? ;) ...from the frankly unbelievable events of the main story. If you liked FC5 and I did then this seems like a no-brainer "get the rest of it."

I do think this series probably peaked around 3 or so. I think after this it needs some time off and reconsideration.

McHart basically stated the only real quibble I had with 5. I wanted more to do after the main story was done on the map and not "fetch bloat."

So I guess they're probably just going to reuse the same map from FC5 then, right?

Meh. No thanks.

Looks awesome! Can't wait to go back to Hope County. I hope the music is still on par with what FC5 had.

Uneducated. Far Cry 5's Villian was modeled after David Koresh & the ideaology of the Branch Davidians, not white supremacy.

Most games 'journalists' never got this.

I personally loved FarCry 5 and the story that was there. Some of the things that happened in that game really made the player stop and think if they wanted to. When you jumped off the big statue in particular and what happened made me pause the game for a bit and think about the implications of what just happened. There was a lot of smart tie in to new testament stories in there as well that a lot of people likely didn't have the nuance to catch.

I've had a good time with all of the Far Cry games, so I'm in. I think I just like large open world games that let you approach things in many different ways. Picking up where #5 ended seems brilliant IMO. It avoids being too similar to 3, 4, and 5 and allows for some new scenery and gameplay elements.
Like everything else, I'm sure people will make it sound more controversial/better/worse than it could ever be. It's why I just ignore 99.9% of video game reviews and commentary.

I've never understood why there wasn't a direct sequel to the original. It and FC3 were the only games I liked in the series, though I haven't played FC5. It just didn't spark my interest. Maybe I should give it a shot?

If you liked 3 (or 4) you'll probably like 5. All 3 of those are pretty similar IMO. 2 isn't that far off, too.

If you can get it on sale, you should. I thought it was pretty good. Its fun.

lemme guess, 1/3 the map of FC5, 2/3rds the price. Blood dragon was $20 when it came out. Far Cry is getting all up there with half ass mods disguised as new games.
