Showtime's Halo adaptation has allegedly been delayed after the Rupert Wyatt stepped down as the director and executive producer of the series. Wyatt cited "changes to the production schedule of Halo" as his reason for leaving, and as is typical with such departures, he left the project on a positive note. The series has allegedly been in the works for almost four years, and production was "originally slated to begin in early 2019."

"Showtime's adaptation of Halo is evolving beautifully with rich characters, compelling stories and powerful scripts," said Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks in a statement. "Obviously, the production demands of this series are enormous, and we have had to add time to the schedule in order to do it right. Sadly, this delay has created a conflict for Rupert, whom we warmly thank for all he has brought to the project."

The fact that I have yet to see buzzwords like "diverse" used in the press for the series so far gives me hope that this will be good (unless I missed it...).

It won't be honestly. It has been in development hell for years.

it cant be good. its an action game, and you shoot very non-human-shaped aliens. They aren't going to put the budget required for a whole lot of Mister Chef bashing covenant CGI skulls. What you'll get is a ton of secondary characters mega-acting and over-dramatizing irrelevant elements from the mythos. TV shows are inherently flawed in that the need to sell you commercials and create endless episodes rather than tell a story. Why not a 10 and done miniseries so they can at least finish or create a single halo movie to see if they can even handle doing a basic job at that?(they cant).

I'm still waiting for Halo movie directed by Peter Jackson. He is gonna start when he ends Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Oh wait, 2003 was nearly 16 years ago?

Honestly they would have been hard pressed to make this a success when Halo was a thing. Might as well scrap the whole plan and make a Destiny live action show.

Looks at statement. Looks at article and sees the show in question is on a premium, commercial free channel.

i didnt realize showtime was the only channel on tv, or that they had shows lasting more than 1 season.

Why is it so hard to do this?

Didn't they already have a movie that got turned into chappie or some such?

Yeah, it's almost getting to the point where Halo is a nostalgia bump for parents whose kids are playing Destiny now.

I have not read the books but if they follow those as source material it should be great. Everyone says they're excellent.

If it does release ever it will be hardly watched.
