Yeah I'm seeing claims that it's loaded with the PAL versions of the game lmao. Well I signed up for text notifications regardless *shrug*.

I would love to get behind this product launch.. but Sony really F'ed up the game selection on this one... :(

Not only that, read reviews.
It's been shown to frame drop, not be able to keep constant 30fps leading to stuttering where it doesn't appear in the original game (EG: Ridge Racer).
Some games are PAL for some reason as well meaning they only run at 5/6th speed.

Sony really released a half-ass product. Thanks for the linkup Kyle. This isn't on you, it's on Sony.

I just saw someone trying to flip this for $140 in FS/FT.. I have a feeling flippers will have a hard time selling these for under MSRP with their current reviews. The only reason I see anyone buying one is just as a collectors item or uninformed parents/buyers.

DF's video just dropped on it yesterday for the interested:

boooo thats a real drag, you suck sony. i was going to introduce the grand kids to the console gramps used to game on!

I forgot I pre-ordered and mine just got delivered today. My friend also bought me one as a birthday gift, so I now have 2. I'm not sure if I'll be able to sell the extra one....

Hard to sell a product when the original PS1 runs games perfectly and the "emulator" has frame pacing and serious timing issues on some important titles.
And you would think most of the people who would want something like this would do their research and find that there are problems.

I would say that nostalgia is the primary reason for buying these - that, and hoping it will be limited quantity and trying to flip it for a profit like the NES Mini and SNES Mini.

If you only care about actually playing retro games, there are way better options.

Yeah too bad they dropped the ball on this. Quick and sloppy cash grab by Sony.

And I can top your story. I imported the Japan version AND forgot to cancel my US order when I saw how badly they botched it. Now I've got one to return here, and one to flip from another region.

I still have my original PS1 (which would be PAL regarldess since I'm in Europe and our TV's used to be PAL)

Wow, that thing is a real piece of shit.

Apparently, if you plug in a keyboard and hit escape, you get a debug menu:

I don't know, I just took a look at the game selection and aside from Mr. Driller (?) I don't have any real complaints. Seems to capture a nice variety of games that were must-have titles back in the day. I would like to have seen Twisted Metal II, Destruction Derby 2, and of course some others but I liked the originals as well and with such a limited selection you can't have everything.

I'll be really interested to see if that debug menu allows the console to perform as it should. If it does, I'll likely pick one of these up.

The PS classic reminded me I had a PS1 I tried to mod (I didnt do it well) 2 decades ago. I will have to look around and see if I can find it and fix the suspect soldering I did when I was a teen.

Good, because seriously fuck these people who are consumers who create some artificially inflated secondary market for brand new gear, creating artificial shortages, all in the name of making a buck.

We did and we passed. It’ll be more like those Pac-Man games that target sells that can hook up to the TV for $20-$30 soon.
