MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Launches in September 2019

I've been playing the new turn-based Battletech game a lot, I'm in the mood for more. Bring it on.

Meh.

The original was pretty hard to control which killed a whole lot of the fun factor for me. Unless they have figured out a way to simplify the control scheme it remains just a title with unrealized potential. In the original if you didn't have a special controller to play - forget it.

Keeping my fingers crossed. I am hoping for MW2/Ghost Bear/Mercenaries level of depth and mech customization. Coop will be a nice addition.
I never was able to get into MWO due to the 100+ hours needed to buy bays and buy/level up just few mechs, unless you just payed real cash for mechs and xp boosters. Too much like pay to win for me.

This will be a rare first week/month after release buy for me if they deliver.

Not sure you think of the same game
MWO has a boatload of problems, but Pay2win isn't one

They give away enough "gold" (MC) and other stuff in events that you don't ever need to buy something

The mechs that are $ only are inferior, or at max on par to the free ones as well

Its pay for convenience and early access

looks like they went with the same BS FPS mechanics that killed MWO... jesus if I wanted another shooter there are about a million available I want a new mech simulator with proper joystick support.

They had Hotas in the mech pods

Probably why the videos show off people basically sucking at MW5

Is this just multi-player or campaign?

Having never played Mechwarrior, is it like
"oh I have this awesome suit, let's go destroy stuff!
Oops everyone else has a suit too, so it's basically meaningless now"

Single player + 4 player co op

Those mecha are supposed to be hulking and slow moving unlike anime mecha.
Which makes this genre different from other mech games

We know there will be infantry, helicopters and normal vehicles in the game as well

Meaningless?
Well depending on implementation; by lore mechs are hard to produce and come by, as is equipment.
Because everyone bombed each others manufacturing plants into oblivion basically.

How well that translates ingame? Who knows

In MW4 mercs, if you lost that laser or gaus rifle due to damage you can't just buy a new one, have to find one somewhere first

They completely changed how you level mechs so to speak. You still need to buy mech bays though.

It really isnt pay to win. It is so easy to make bills anymore as free to play. Least i think so. I dont even buy premium time any more, no need.

Try MWO. I susoect they will control the same. Mouse and keyboard it is super easy.

I sort of gave up on it early on. I had not realized it had changed.

that's exactly my point they designed it for mouse and keyboard twitch fps bullshit just like mwo so when they have people play with a hotas it sucks.

Because they would limit the player base even more than it is if it was a complex sim like game to play.

Just the nature.of.the times.

It seriously isnt that bad

OK good, so its not like everyone and their dog has a mech.

Its a big deal when one shows up.

Like a Jaeger from Pacific Rim
