ACG Reviews Just Cause 4

I really enjoyed JC3 but holidays are making postpone this for now.

ACG does some of the best reviews; I check his reviews out when I am on the fence about a game.

I had a lot of fun with JC3, without having played the previous ones. Looking forward to this, but I'll wait for the first sale, and the first 15-20 patches to come out.

I put about 200 hours in to JC2, but after the absolute disappointment of JC3, this one will need to wait for a heavy Steam sale.

According to Steam I have 147 hours in JC2. I do own JC3, but haven't played it yet, I had planned on it playing before JC4 dropped, but SotTR ruined that for me. What makes JC3 a disappointment compared to JC2, besides performance issues?

The only real down side in JC3 compared to 2 is that each area has to be liberated, more like traditional open world games (Assassin's Creed, Witcher 3). This means you sometimes have to search for a tiny little antenna to liberate an area. In JC2 you simply went around destroying stuff at a natural pace. I hope JC4 goes back to how JC2 counted the destruction.

Outside of that JC3 handled vehicle drops far better, was more forgiving with the respawn system allowing you to try more things out, had better controls ect. It ran perfectly fine on my PC.

Sweet. One of my biggest gripes with JC2 was the controls. And I was worried if my 960 had enough balls to push 1080p/120. Thx.

I didn't care for the JC3 controls-- they felt sluggish and imprecise. JC2 controls were perfect for me. I also didn't like the "closer to the shoulder" camera they moved to for JC3. It felt like the field of view was greatly limited. Someone created a JustFOV.exe tool which expanded the camera, but it also broke the sniper scope zoom. Not to mention how JC3 locked all upgrades behind the challenge missions... I just really couldn't get into it.

Let me just weigh in here: I hated both JC2 and JC3, they have nothing on Mercenaries 2.

This is definitely a Day 1 buy for me, as a matter of fact I am grabbing it at lunch today. I played the heck out of Just Cause 3, beat it and all but one of the DLC's. Performance issues aside, which mainly leaned on the SUPER long load times, it was a blast. I have been excited for this since it was announced. It's a blast all around, the only thing I wish they would do is a multiplayer version, but strictly a PvE multiplayer since I don't dig PvP, but it would be a blast to team up with a few friends and see how far you can push the physics in the game.

Not that throwing cars at eachother would be a bad thing either. I do love me some co-op games! Might have to grab this one after the holidays.
