Destiny 2

Ok cool.

So it's typical fare. End-game is where it's at (as I expected)

During the campaign though, what kind of MP elements can I engage in?

The main MP elements you can access are Crucible (PvP, usually in teams), Strikes (3-player story missions that take 15-20 minutes), and Gambit (PvE with a little PvP mixed in). Nightfall is a weekly strike with better rewards, but usually tougher. The game wants you to do that with players you know, although you can be paired with randoms if you're willing to wait. I have no idea why they do that - the missions are just hard strikes.
You can also do Raids, which are large story missions for big groups. Those are massive and surprisingly unlike the entire rest of the game. They're VERY heavy on coordination and communication.

There are also public activities scattered throughout the maps, too. Those involve a stated objective and if certain conditions are met, it'll turn "Heroic" which nets better rewards.

I think during the campaign you only have access to Crucible PVP and public events as far as multiplayer goes. Strikes may be available towards the end but I can't remember.

I'm level 7 or 8 and just got to Nessus, but I'm trying to speed through it as I already did the campaign 3 times on PS4.

All if them, really. Nothing is held behind the campaign apart from the end game content itself so you're really free to do what you want.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think gambit might be gated. That said, even if it's not, level and gear advantage is turned on for the pvp portion of that mode, so it's not really even worth doing before around 500 light.

The new Gambit "Breakneck Auto Rifle" is looking pretty nice. 40 games of Gambit to get it (the other stuff looks like it'll be done long before the 40 games). 2 games down, 38 to go. :) I enjoy Gambit so it won't be that bad to get. I wish I could play more this week.

Yeah buddy.

So last night at exactly 12:08am I got 8 e-mails about resetting my password/security codes. I go to login just recently, says session expired, and my password doesn't work. My e-mail address wasn't changed so I was able to reset my password and regain access. Haven't logged in yet to see if anything was done because I'm downloading the update at ~3ish MB/s.

I just don't know how this could have happened. I have secondary authentication enabled on my e-mail AND blizzard account. Last time I logged into my e-mail from a remote site it was a major PITA. HOW???

That sort of thing has been the bane of my existence forever. I'll have one item that holds me back. Depending on what it is and how many levels back it is, it can even affect "powerful" drops so that they're the same level as what you have.
I've been pretty lucky for the last couple weeks (I'm finally to 580), but I've gone through periods where I'd only gain a level a week. The good thing about Forsaken is that there are like a dozen opportunities to get powerful gear per week. Some aren't feasible until 520 or so (the "Wanted" quest and hidden sectors in the dreaming city), but most of them are.

I did some powerful gear q and got a couple upgrades I'm at 502 now, still working on some weekly q's while I'm at it, going slow atm but going nonetheless.

Was having fun with the bow I got but at 410 it was holding me back, hope to get a better one someday.

Worked on the quests for the Loaded Question and Breakneck. That wont be that bad, next day or two to get those done. We ran the Warden of Nothing Nightfall and i got the Wardens Law hand cannon with Rampage/Outlaw and a range master work... This is a little hand held sniper that might just replace my Midnight Coup for a bit.

You'll get more bow drops. There are a half dozen in the game and they mostly work the same way. You can always use other gear to power up that first one you got, too. I ended up masterworking that first bow and I still boost it up here and there. I used it through 75% of the raid we played last week. They're not as strong as I'd like in the Crucible, but they're great for nearly everything else.

Another game or two of Gambit and I'll have all the "Kill" steps done for Breakneck. Unfortunately I won't be able to get online again until next week to finish the last 30 matches I'll need. :(

Gambit has become one of my favorite parts of the game. I appreciate the different game elements and different approaches. IMO the only problem with it is how certain weapons kill other players so much easier. Snipers kill other players in 1 shot most of the time from across the map. Ditto with the better fusion rifles like the Sleeper. I'd like to see both toned down a bit. Especially since both are no longer power weapons and ammo is plentiful. The most fun I've had are when invaders and defenders are using normal weapons instead of instakilling one another with OP'd guns.

Well Sleeper is a power weapon (i mean it was last week, did they change it yesterday? lol) still and the gimped ammo drops so I really don't see it much but man, Queenbreaker... That's the new one they're going to go after. I'm 100% guilty of this but that thing is disgusting in Gambit and I think I agree with you.

It's incredibly easy to invade and get an Army of One without really trying. I ran it all night last night and was dedicated invader. It felt like cheating.

Side note, I got the Kingmaker ornament for it and its hilarious.

Just make sure you're not trashing your higher light gear. You don't have to wear it or have it on your character but the game knows what light level gear you've acquired and will give you drops accordingly. Try to crunch out those daily and weekly powerfuls. Remember that completed bounties do not disappear so you can bank them up for every Tuesday reset and get Ikora's powerful off the bat. Also a good way to do Hawthorne's 5,000 clan exp powerful. Just find the easy dailies from her and do not turn them in.

I've heard from some other folks that the Queenbreaker is extremely generous in regards to aim assist even down to the feeling like it's cheating.

Yeah, its like the Sleeper used to be. Aim "near" them, preferably near their head and they're dead. Every time. With the Combat sights the charge time is also significantly lower than any other LFR that I've used so that combination makes quick work when invading.

Queenbreaker is definitely broken for gambit pvp. You basically just need to aim in their general direction and you get a headshot. That said it's really not all that much better than 1kV or Thunderlord at killing people, and it's basically useless for the pve stuff in gambit. 1kV and Thunderlord are really good for the pve and pvp, so I generally use one of those depending on what my group needs.

Sooo I reached Brave 1 in crucible but it didn't complete the first of many quest step? Am I missing something?

I wish you luck, I don't touch Crucible unless I absolutely have to so I have no idea!

Loaded Question acquired. I'm beat. 40 strikes sucked. I didn't even load into Trostland like I normally do with a new weapon to play around with it.

I hope its good...

Gambit and the Breakneck tonight.

Nice! I need about 20 more gambits for the Breakneck, but everything else is done. Once I finish those, I think I'm going to try to find a group to speed run Lake of Shadows for a while for Loaded Question.

I like this game but holy fuck its expensive to buy the expansions. $60 to upgrade over the base edition? $99 for the deluxe edition which is basically that and a season pass. Bungie is reporting less than stellar financial performance of Destiny 2 because its too goddamn expensive. Then there are micro-transactions beyond the above for cosmetic shit.

They definitely make a killing. I've put more money in this single game than I have in any other single game besides Payday 2. $30 for the base game, $35 for the first expansion pass, $40 for the Forsaken DLC, and I'm about to spend another $26 on the new expansion pass.

Activision actually says they're disappointed in Destiny 2's numbers. They had probably though that every person and their grandma would come back for Forsaken.

40 gambits later....I have acquired the Breakneck....

Yeah, I'm done with gambit for a while lol.

65 more auto rifle kills and I can switch of this
not a bad shader for this thing

Ooooo. Very nice. I'll have it tonight. We played 30 rounds back to back last night so we're taking a break this morning. Tonight, its on. Then no more gambit ever. (jk, its still fun and I got LOTS of practice).

We've been consistently able to melt the Primeval from full to dead if we get at least 3x stacks. Melting Point, Well and 2x Chaos Reaches with Geomag Stabalizers. Works like a charm.

I did it over 3 days. Something like 17 first day, 13 day 2, and 5 this morning. I did mostly solo queue since my friends have been busy this week. Surprisingly probably won about half of them. I had to switch to Queenbreaker, though, because I got tired of being killed by it. If you can't beat'em, join'em lol.

No judgment here. That thing is too good not to use.

30 rounds back to back? Holy moly.

I’ve been lazy and need to work on it but before that even I need to get my wishender. Then start my whisper catalyst. So many things to do yet I don’t want to do them.

Yeah, so much to do. What I turn around to a few months after D2 dropped!

I just got the Breakneck just now.. it's actually kinda good for an auto rifle. I put a backup mag on it and when you hit 3x rampage the thing bangs.

Feels better than the Loaded Question!

Did the Which Witch challenge last night. That was painful. Lots of little mental mistakes means a lot of wasted time. All told we had probably spent 1h 30m or something completing it. I'll have to find some time to run a full Last Wish one of these days and hopefully get a 1K Voices.

Great timing on my part since the Black Armory comes out tomorrow so no one will want to do it!

O I wouldn't worry about that, people are still running Leviathan ;-)

I still have the original destiny 2 I bought last year I reinstalled it but I don't know how to get to any of this endgame content? My guy is a level 20 or whatever the end game level is ?

But it seems like these raids or dungeons or whatever they're called are blocked off or I can't access them?

Do I need to buy some expansion or something ? Some prices I see are like $50 ?

Why can't games just be one full $60 at launch and no nickel and dime for DLC later ? Or an I missing aometsome ?

The hype is real!

Tonights agenda, keep stacking powerful bounties in prep for the 650 grind stating tomorrow.

Yeah bud you're missing a loooooooot.

Since you're a base D2 player at the max then you do have access to the Leviathan raid. But remember that being max level is not the same thing as being max light level. The max level currently is 50 and your light level (LL) is more or less your gear score. It's sort of Bungie's way of gating content that they feel you shouldn't be able to do yet. You've been away a while and the max LL currently is 600 although it'll soon be raised to 650.

To get the latest content you will definitely need to buy the expansion. The packages can be confusing if you haven't been paying any attention to this game at all but it has been simplified a little after the release of Forsaken. To break it down you have:
  • Destiny 2
  • Forsaken
  • Annual Pass
The year one expansion pass has been rolled into Forsaken so you get that for free if you purchase Forsaken now. Previously, much to the dismay of a lot of people, it was still a separate purcahse and part of a $70 Forsaken bundle. The annual pass is additional content for the Forsaken expansion. There'll be things available to only annual pass owners and things available to both Forsaken and annual pass owners.

As for sucking money out of players, this is what it is nowadays. Ubisoft is has one of the "better" developers recently about creating free additional content but that's mostly all paid now.

I liked this game so much that I purchased the Forsaken expansion on Friday for $39.99. It includes both expansions. It wasn't one of the fancy editions or anything, but I'm good with that. The more I played it, the more I liked it. I have been having a blast playing it with friends.
