Well we finished 6th in the World Community Grid Birthday Race in November, 2018. Which is not bad considering 3 of the teams above us were cryptominig teams. So realistically we finished 3rd in the BOINC Community. Last year, 2017, we finished 4th place just a mere 5M points behind SETI.Germany. This year we took SETI.Germany by 300k points. Very, very close race at the end.

The WCG Christmas Race starts on December 1st and lasts until December 26th. Last year we finished 1st place, but we were 2nd during over half of it as we built up steam to over take Team China.

Now is a good time to get your rigs connected to the WCG servers to begin work so by the time the 1st comes around you'll be at 100% output with no validations required.

The project can run on any x86 based processor. Newer processors will finish the work units quicker and thus generate more points per day, but all CPUs can generate some kind of points towards the challenge. You can also use Android phones (find the app in the Google Play Store).

If you haven't created an account yet then use this link. It will auto assign you to our team.

If you are creating a new account make sure this setting is checked in the WCG preferences on the site.

If you already have an account, but not on the team, then join the team HardOCP. Spelled exactly like that.

This is a CPU ONLY project. Your GPUs will not be doing any work.

I have been bunking for a few days already now. If you start right away you should be able to get quite a bit of work saved up (completed) and ready to drop on the contest starting day. Basically download as much work as you can (you can run multiple instances or run VM"s to get past project task limits) then once you have enough work saved either set the activity to "no network activity" or alternatively setup a firewall rule to block in and out for IP: 169.47.63.74 Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about this! I was able to drop 1.6 million points for the birthday challenge on day 1 and my normal daily average is only 300k points per day. I am going to try to beat that this time.

Pretty sure it starts at 0:00UTC 01DEC2018... which is in less that one minute. I might wait another hour though. :p

Am I on the correct team?

By some chance I just setup windows on my threadripper 2950 and BOINC right now.

edit: I see was on the wrong team this whole time. how sad

Nice work! Just make sure they enabled their data to be displayed.

Apparently ~12 of my systems have been offline for 4-10 days. Lots of lost WUs. (n) Whoops. On the bright side, the ~20 other systems should've dropped three or so days worth of work. (y) Bring it, Poet! ;) (lopoetve)
Monday is ordering two new PDUs and racking the remaining gear. Tuesday is fixing the network and expanding my /24 to a /16.

Then I build five new clusters and hit go. This gonna be fun.

Jeez, man. Let's have some properly juicy details then, eh? :geek: This work stuff? Or personal? My output is going to take a hit before too much longer. Received a bunch of boxes ahead of schedule, but now demand is starting to creep into my pool. :ROFLMAO:

Whats the best site to see WCG stats with members rankings for this?

Free-dc is the best, but the site isbhaving issues right now. Owner is out of town and believes it's a hardware issue so he won't be able to fix it till he gets back. Shouldn't be too long.

Work, sorta ;). It’s a demo environment. Replace shell VMs and workload sims with something doing something useful!!!

I'm getting the impression this is another challenge that no one cares about?

I wonder how many rigs fastgeek hasn't powered on?

A few... but have 31 running at the moment. ;) My production will be taking a dive as time goes on though... so will generate all the points while I can. :D

Am surprised to learn I'm in the #2 spot for over-all WCG production in our team. Huh. Think I'll leave my boxen on this project for a good long while; see if I can't unseat the long dormant brilong. :)

Realize I might be missing something obvious; but does anyone know of a way to track your history per-project? Thanks! (y)

But of course. :) But I mean something useful; like a chart for what each user has contributed to a specific project over a date range?

I don't think you can see what other usres have contributed like that.

Might be something somewhere hidden on boincstats. That site is difficult to navigate for me though. I'll take a look around.

Sorry, Skillz, I meant for a user to see their own contribution over time to each sub-project. I do see an option for over all contribution for the last ~365 days (or maybe it's 365 days worth of results); but that's just for the overall WCG bucket.

Don't think that exists. You can only see overall contributions.
