PC Gamer managed to spot an interesting change on Amazon's website. When shopping for certain PC components, users can now enter the make and model of other computers or components to see if the item in question is compatible. Amazon has a long way to go before achieving parity with sites like PC Part Picker, as the service wasn't offered with several popular components I searched for. In addition, Amazon didn't seem to recognize DDR4 compatibility in several motherboards, even though compatibility should be a given. This isn't surprising, given that this feature is a new adaptation of the automotive "Partfinder" service. Still, this could go a long way towards making PC component shopping less daunting.

How about they just improve their search and filtering? Amazon has one of the worst out there, you can search for parts by name as listed on Amazon and still have it on the second page.

Thats weird I get in trouble for mentioning PCGAMER but its ok for YOU to do it ? LOL

It does what it is designed to do, to show you items that they want you to buy. And to get you to spend more time there with more ads showing up.

Amazon has a great search engine to find PC components and parts - it is called Newegg. :) Copy those part numbers and paste them into your Amazon search bar and BAM - you win!

While it doesn't happen often, I have actually had the item I was looking for still be half way down the page, even though it was listed with the exact part number I was searching for AND the part number was in the listing title as well. I have started buying more and more from NE and other places, as I can find the parts I was, they don't use mixed inventory like Amazon, and Amazon often doesn't even have the best prices anymore in lots of cases, Amazon for PC parts at least, tends to be a "I need it as soon as possible" order.
