Darksiders III

I have been waiting for the sequel for quite a while. Based on what I have seen so far, it does not seem like it will be as good as Darksiders 2 given my personal preferences. Specifically:

1) No RPG Mechanics - different level weapons etc. Some may love this for me its a step back
2) Reliance on whip as the main weapon - I prefer axe / large weapons
3) Emphasis on smaller number of enemies but tougher - I prefer large amount of enemies to slash through
4) Does not seem to have as large world and scope seems smaller (hope I am wrong)

Yeah I'm really bummed about this the more I see it, Darksiders 2 was such a good freaking game.

Already preordered it on GoG. I really hope I am not disappointed but I have really been waiting for this game for a while.

From the gameplay videos I don't see how one assumes there is no RPG mechanics. No level up like mechanism was shown, but there was a "soul absorbing" mechanic being done automatically so it looks like there might be something there but wasn't shown. Unless there was a video I missed where the devs said there wasn't any. One of the videos she was using a large sword that was on her back, so it looks like there are other weapons in the game. The scope I really can't comment on based on what I saw in the gameplay videos because it looked similar to how the first 2 darksiders games were built. The smaller number of enemies is hard to really determine from what I saw because we just don't know where they were in the game. The number of enemies in the beginning portions of most games is low and gradually increase as you get further in, and I think the gameplay videos shown (I think) are from the beginning of the game.

I'm hoping that I'm wrong, but what I've seen so far I am definitely waiting on a review. Seems to be the case with 99% of games I purchase these days though, so no surprise there.

There is no way they will mess this game up.

Gamespot must of had some sour milk of late been giving alot of games low scores.
Maybe the game hasn't aged well if it's just a new skin on the old concept but I'm sure it's still good.

'tis the era where everyone has to one up other reviewers with a more clever negative review...except for RDR2, which got a pass for some weird reason.

I'll play this game tomorrow I had it preordered like three months ago on Steam.

Played it a little, and I have to say I am not really liking the game mechanics. They completely copied the Dark Souls you die and you leave back the "souls" and you have to go fight your way back from the spawn point to where you died to retrieve them or lose them if you die again feature. It makes it completely different than the first two games and to me it just doesn't feel like it belongs in this kind of a game. It's not a slower paced methodical kind of Dark Souls game, it's an twitchy fast action game that I think doesn't fit with this game mechanic IMO. I am dying pretty often here mainly because I can't remap the controller buttons and it's annoying as hell to have dodge be R1 when I am so use to it being on B for dark souls like games. It's just a muscle memory thing and it's literally killing me in the game lol. Graphically it is fine, and so far it feels very linear. I saw a cracked colored wall that I am sure I will "gain" the way to break it so as to continue in that direction. I don't know what the "souls" are for yet probably for leveling up but I haven't found a place to be able to use them yet. I encountered no bugs so far but I only played for about 30 mins. The first boss was easy and pretty close to the spawn point, but after that, I haven't seen another spawn point in a while, and if there isn't a spawn point near the next boss I can see this as being a really annoying feature. Maybe I am just getting sick of this mechanic though and since it wasn't in the first two Darksiders games I really wasn't expecting it to have this annoying feature in the third game.

I really hope they let you remap the controls if they're going to try and have Souls elements tossed in. At least if it feels kinda similar. I've put thousands of hours into those games and there's no getting around the muscle memory they've imparted. I dealt with incorrect prompts and all sorts of issues with Nioh.

Story is awesome I played to the 1st Boss yeah I know I suck. I couldn't get past the 3rd stage but I wasn't playing on my PC monitor and getting the hang of controls and missed Indiana Jones. They probably uped the difficulty on this game just a tad maybe in line with Dark Souls so you feel better once the Boss is destroyed. You probably don't want to play this with Keyboard mouse just to let you know. I mean you need to camera lock along with dodging. They could of improved the camera by just making it auto focus but all the previous games were not like that.

Feels just like a Darksiders Game to me

Just Hot and Pissed off what is not to like?

I played the game for a bit and honestly it seems like something that should have been released 5 years ago. It looks and feels old. Nothing in regards to the graphics, controls or gameplay seems to have been updated since Darksiders 2.

Well, the graphics are improved from the last game but only marginally. Ultimately it doesn't look like a hugely different game - But that's not a bad thing.

Beat that first Mini Boss just need to be quick and save your heals it's a 4 part fight. I didn't have much life left as you can see on the screenshot =)

Given how heavily stylized the look they've had in the past two games have been I wouldn't expect there to be much in terms of graphical advancement.

I remember playing the 1st game and loving it and I really liked the second until I got tired of doing the exact same thing over and over and over.... hopefully this game wont have that same feel to it

Church from Darksouls maybe this game has alot of Dark Souls similarities at the start like monsters hiding behind wooden planks.
