According to a newly registered trademarked by 20th Century Fox, a new Alien game called “Alien: Blackout” is in the works. There isn’t any indication as to whether it is associated with 2014’s critically successful Alien Isolation, but a tweet from Geoff Keighley earlier this month suggests details will be unveiled during December’s The Game Awards show.

Alien: Blackout may not be a continuation of that timeline in which Amanda Ripley heads to the space station Sevastopol and encounters the beasts that caused her mother to go missing after the events of 1979’s Alien. It may not even be a regular console-based game of course, with mobile and VR also be possibilities. Whatever it turns out to be, it’s got some big shoes to fill.

More "decent and above" Alien games will always be welcome. While Isolation wasn't everyone's cup of tea, it was at least well made. Well, except that irritating level running from robots the whole time. F that one.

Any "Alien" related game at this point, like any Terminator game...is almost a guaranteeed fail. First? Those properties are now getting very old, and the movies that came later were not worth making games over :) Second, the game is always the same: You land into a mystery, get bushwhacked and then try to survive Evac. Come on :)
While I do own Isolation on PC I think, I've fired it up once and never really played it, and Alien shooters are just...frankly.....old at this point. The Pulse Rifle holds no mystery to me, the Smart Gun no allure..... :)

They certainly COULD be fails, but it is really one of those things where people are waving money in the air and it is really on the studio to F it up. Yes, I will nod to your point that studios really do rise to the occasion to F it up. But there are gems here and there, or at least not horrific messes.

Isolation is actually overall very good at what it tries to do. Just understand IT IS NOT A SHOOTER. There's no pulse rifle, smartgun, and discharging the weapons you do have is should be considered carefully. The main threat is hunting you - your main/only defense is it not finding you.

It's a game of hiding and surviving when you are dramatically outclassed in the "killing things" department.

I hope this is an ISOLATION sequel and a good one too. ISOLATION is one of my favorite single player games, will play it again for the sixth time very soon.
