Courtesy of Castlevania executive producer Adi Shankar, an animated-series adaptation of Devil May Cry is in the works, presumably for Netflix. Shankar says he acquired the property “so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too.” The fifth chapter in Capcom’s action hack-and-slash franchise, which revolves around half-human, half-demon vigilante Dante and newer protagonist Nero, is slated for release in March.

Shankar attributes the Devil May Cry series announcement to the success Castlevania, which he says, "really over-performed. It did crazy well. We immediately got greenlit for Season 3.” Thanking the fans who made this all possible, Shankar said, “I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the fans." Currently, there is no information on which network/streaming service Devil May Cry will air on.

Interesting but I could see this being easier to screw up than Castlevania as a series.

Have to say knew nothing about Castlevania and not a huge fan of 'anime' but we've really enjoyed the Netflix show.

Enjoyed season 1 of Castlevania, later realized this was because it's loaded with action.

Season 2 gets mired in the plot (I tapped out at ep2, some truly awful characters are introduced in ep1), and once characters start talking... the writing is just horrendous. lol

The vibe at times reminds me of the Spawn HBO series from the late 90's.

I will say the show is visually excellent.

Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed a trend with Netflix originals where season 1 comes out strong, then shit just falls apart.

if season 2 of castlevania goes, this would turn out to be boring shit.
if you want to make castlevania a court intrigue drama, step 1 would be to get those people who knows how to write these things

i think lots would be happy if DMC or Castlevania was made into short R-rated animated films , to the quality of Justice League: Dark, or Constantine: City of Demons

This is great news! I'd love to see Soma Cruz and Dante team up or even go head to head :)

Then you tapped out too early. The action picks up soon after. All those awful characters die some pretty brutal deaths, especially the arrogant Viking Vampire.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well Castlevania turned out. I was also pleasantly surprised they didn't bother censoring the dialog either. After the big battle scene, one Vampire turned and looked at her human pet and said "WHAT. THE. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK." as she witnessed the events unfold. I was in tears laughing at that scene.

Thank god we won't be dealing with this

That still doesn't help the main characters cringey dialogue lol
