iRacing Team [H]ardOCP Paints! Show Your [H] Pride!

I miss iRacing. Was hooked on the NASCAR Trucks and the Modified series. Great fun. Hoping to get back into it here soon.

Frustrating night tonight. Running the Nationals on Pocono, having a bitch of a time finding the speed in T1, and on that track 1 mistake = an eternity. Tried running Skippys at Donnington... I officially suck on Donnington.

Was in practice feeling good, smooth, get into quali to see I'm 10 seconds off the pace  . Turn 4, 7, and the chicane I'm just too timid with and it costs me so much time. 4 especially, too timid and you lose a TON of time, so it must be taken fast... but it seems if I get it even a little bit wrong I'm off exploring the greener parts of the track.

Had a decent run in the trucks... but they aren't official so it isn't helping me with my next license heh.

Road courses for me usually means giving up 3 seconds to find 1 second.

It’s all about braking and exit, neither of which I ever figured out.

Frickin’ aliens zoom past me approaching a corner, brake like 5 car lengths deeper than I do, and zoom through the corner.

I try that and I end up straight off the course and stuck up a cows ass.

How in the hell did I manage that... omffg what an insane race I have the replay if anyone is interested..

I finished P2... I actually didn't lead any laps, he was just lagging so bad he skipped over the start finish several times! Note the incident points.

I know how, as a non Alien, how those big wins feel.

I actually won the Indy 500 one year. The last lap the 2nd place guy tried to bounce me and almost took us both out. Luckily he didn't prevail.

You will find that some assholes will do ANYTHING and risk ANYTHING for a frickin' win in iRacing.

I just wish my legs would allow me to play, but these days I would only be able to run about 30 min and it's not worth all the setup time :(

A GOOD wheel with hand controls for gas and brake would be awesome. There was a really cheap one at one time, Madcatz or something made for PS4, but it was utter shit and only good for bouncing cars off guardrails in shitty console arcade games.

Odd that you say that. My favorite driving streamer/youtuber has been going some stuff with GT Sport lately cant use his OSW and HE Ultimates on the PS4 so he has been using a Fanatec CSL setup with the Mclaren rim.. Has been having a lot of trouble with the pedals, so ofr a little while yesterday he was using the clutch paddles for the throttle and brake haha. I'd imagine it could be done with any rim that has the paddle clutches. Vid below should start at the right point

Now u r ready for the Trucks :)

Was nearly killed multiple times at Martinsville last week haha. Had 1 shit race with very bad luck, car spun lap 3, yellow came out, he decided to reverse into the front of my car, 7 minutes of optionals. Had a really tough time with Martinsville, Was running a very consistent 21.3ish laps, last race there was in top split with a 2100SOF and the leader was running steady 20.4 second laps.... no fucking clue, just need more skill I recon heh, I'm a 1200 irating C license, he was a 3900 A.

Tried an Indy oval as well at Atlanta... I'm not ready for that haha. Started 12th, finished 8th, no incidents, but the entire race I felt like my asshole was going to take a bit out of my chair.

Looking forward to see how Texas treats me this week.

Indy is deceptive. It’s one of the hardest tracks to run well in the sim.

Any of you guys have SimRigs? Somebody start a thread - lol

I don't play iRacing but like to do hot laps in Asseto Corsa, and Project Cars 2.

I'm working on mine. Not a lot of disposable funds so it's gonna be a pretty long work in progress until it's "done" heh

Hey MrMitch I'm doing a league for the winter season gonna be in the Xfinity Camaro I would love to rep the [H], would it be possible to port over one of the other Xfinity liveries to the Camaro?

I may have over done it.....

OMG, that is kickass! Now you got me wanting one. I just started playing iracing again, after a 2 yr break. Got a new wheel T300RS Alcantara edition.

I have an A license in both oval and road, only took me like 3 months.

Glad you mentioned me as for some reason I wasn't getting notifications on the thread! I love the 80/20 setup! I'll send you a PM and have you add me on iRacing, doing a Xfinity Camaro shouldn't be a problem.
I too went a bit overboard and haven't posted my rig since I got the new monitor, Samsung 49" ultra wide

DSD button boxes, and I spy HE Pro's? Very nice, Wife wants me to get the 49, I want triples since I do more oval and they'd be cheaper, but Samsung has that 49 for 900 on BF and it's tempting as hell haha

Yup, CSW V2.5 w/ the McLaren rim mounted (junk), I also have the Formula Carbon and BMW rim for oval stuff. DSD CSW button boxes that mount straight to the wheel base, DSD shifter, HE Pro Pedals, the base rig is from 4Play racing that I added a bunch to. Dash is an old iphone 6 with a 3D printed holder displaying Joel Real Timing. The other helper app I use is Kapps for an overlay.

I had triple 60hz 24's (top monitor is one of them), I do prefer the single ultra wide personally. Easier setup, better frames, no bezels and less space. I manage 107 FOV, i was at 135 on the triples so I do lose some valuable space as a trade.

Next upgrade will be an OSW, most likely from simracingbay. I haven't had good luck with Fanatec and just don't trust them to build a DD wheel that won't be junk.

Awesome to hear. After I finally get the rig itself finished (JCL To be Faster v2 with separate 4 monitor stand), next on the list is pedals then an OSW. Although the price drop accuforce just did is really tempting. I'm currently using a T150 and T3PA pedals, picked them up cheap to see if I like sim racing and now here we are haha. Getting everything bolted in place instead of my current setup seemed like it would be more beneficial than a wheel or pedal upgrade first.

I've heard almost no good things about fanatec bases, and the owner just seems like a douche, coupled with the auction fiasco means I'm just not interested in anything of theirs. That said if I got a smokin deal on a used one I wouldn't turn it down haha

A buddy of mine once attempted something similar with wood, but this sir is awesome!!

How much has that set you back?

I hate to even think of how much I got into it, I'd guess north of 5k easy counting the monitor and the PC since its dedicated to just the simrig.

I'm finally thinking about replacing my g27 wheel base - I have a custom wheel with a sli pro, but it doesn't play nice with a lot of programs. Already have a set of club sport pedals and looking at the csw 2.5. Should I be looking at something else?

My beef with fanatec is mostly their service. My V2.5 has preformed fine but shipped without its accessories, any of them. So after getting ahold of customer service they told me they didn't have V2.5 power supplies as spares so they'd see what they could do, a week later I complained again and they shipped me a V2 power supply which they assured me was the same spec just not the stylish shape. So far that has worked. I never did get a USB cable from them or anything of the other accessories. The wheel base itself has been performing fine.

My V2 pedals died on me, it was a well known problem with the V2's and the hall sensors going, they were out of warranty when they died so I was SOL.

So far my McLaren rim has been running ok but they are dying on people like crazy, I know the new ones are built different so perhaps they've fixed it. Problem is Fanatec uses customers as beta testers. The formula rim is tits however and the BMW rim is great but heavy and soaks up a lot of FFB from the V2.5.

By the time you buy a V2.5 and add a rim too it you'd be looking at $750+ , you can get a Simexperience accuforce for $999 complete, $700 gets you one without a rim and you can convert a fanatec rim to standalone USB if you prefer a formula style steering wheel. Above the accuforce you'll find the OSW which is very DIY and the bodnar which is 3k+.

All that said, now that I can use my V2.5 it has preformed great, I'm sure I'm the minority. On black friday they'll have the CSL base for $300 or the CSL base+formula rim+CSL pedals for $600. Could buy into the CSL system, flip the pedals or keep them as a spare, then if you ever wanted to upgrade from it, convert the fanatec rim and buy a direct drive like the accuforce or buy into fanatec's new DD.

Damn, post is too long.

That's the wheel I built. I wouldn't mind keeping it, so the accuforce might be worth looking into. If I went with the 2.5 I would get the formula wheel and the BMW wheel, then sell what I have (I don't even know if someone would want it to be honest, but it was damn expensive when I built it).

edit: here's my setup - I have a Vive, but it's ran to the room over, so I need to get another lighthouse before I can use it in this room. It's also almost time to replace the seat on this thing.

That wheel looks amazing man, an accuforce would be perfect since you could take it with you.

There’s a 49” ultra wide ?

Model # ?

Samsung CHG90 then a bunch of numbers that vary by retailer. It's only 1080 but that's perfect for racing, if I used it for everyday stuff I'd want 1440p. Its 144hz, great response time, has the black leveler so sebring night is no problem. Really really love it.

Well we got the Dallara F3, Formula Renault 3.5 coming, also we get 2 free tracks in Tsukuba and Charlotte roval, and most importantly to me, Day/Night transitions are finally coming.

The 2 formula cars are both a bit of a let down, F3 is going to a new car next year and FR 3.5 folded last year after failing to even get 8 car grids. Would have much preferred the new F2 car also built by Dallara.

The 2 new tracks should both be nice, won't be used a whole lot for the faster road cars, but a welcome addition to the lower classes and free is a great price.

Day/Night I'm super excited about, endurance racing is my favorite part and a dynamic day and weather system will add so much.

Still no new tire model so cold tires are faster than hot because iRacing logic. Overall tho I'm excited for the new build.

I’ve been away for nearly 3 year, and the tire model still isn’t done?

David is taking too many PTO days :)

Is dale earnhardt jr. still a common face in iRacing since he hung up his helmet irl ?

Decent update but severely lacking IMO, especially for oval guys, the tire model V6 we're on now is utter garbage.

His wife made him quit to pursue more "social activities." Tony Stewart is still on all the time, and a bunch of the lesser known NASCAR and truck series guys are on a ton. Was in a B Fixed race with 2 of them a couple days ago

Damn. That’s a shame. I guess Jr. is fading off into the sunset :(

Wait, Dirt is a separate license?

It's not just oval and road these days?

I have not even logged into iRacing in like..... 3 years. OMG.

It's not that I don't like it. I LOVE it. I was one of the original alpha testers. It's just my health hasn't afforded me the ability to use the damn pedals effectively.

Still looking for a good hand-control wheel kit.

They broke Dirt Road (rally cross) and Dirt Oval into separate licenses about a year ago. I'm still D class in rally but wanted to get my C in dirt oval because the Chilli Bowl comes to iRacing next month and they're going to do a special event for it and now I can take part.

The Fanatec CSL McLaren rim has analog paddles that can be mapped 4 different ways, including as a gas and brake. I have one, I use the paddles as either analog look left/right so I can partial "peek" over, or in the bite point mode for standing start hacks. I doubt you'd be a champion road racer with it but I bet you could run Indy again and be competitive. Worth a look, would require a Fanatec base but the CSL can be had cheap and its 95% the CSW I hear.

A little vid
