Fallout 76

Many of you know me as a [H]ardcore Fallout Enthusiast. I've either pre-ordered or day 1 purchased every Fallout game and have roughly 14,000 hours in Fallout 3 alone.

Many of the issues Fallout 76 has shouldn't have existed in the BETA.

- High refresh rate - which a whole slew of other games support - should have been implemented without the speed glitch occurring.

- Push to talk is also another option which should have been implemented upon first inception along with Team only Speak. I don't want to listen to some idiot constantly whining in my ear.

- FOV bullshit. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 are set at 120 because any lower setting tires my eyes way too soon and makes me a bit queezy in the gut. Many other games support this feature right off the bat and Fallout 76 should have done the same.

With all these issues/features present I'm out. In the future I will be hesitant to pre-purchase any Fallout or Elder Scrolls game from Bethesda since it is readily evidenced by Fallout 76 that they haven't been listening to their Fan Base. Saddening, really because I firmly believe that if a company produces a quality product right out of the gate they'll make money hand over fist.

Maybe I'll hit-up Fallout 76 at a later date but for now I'm out.

Refund being processed as of yesterday.
So you been playing FO3 for over 38 years straight? Seems legit.

What is there to do in FO3 for 14,000 hours...
Mods, mods, and more mods.

I'll be joining you guys in canceling my pre-order tonight. As much as I wanted the power armor edition I just can't support this. I'm sure I'll be playing this eventually, but in its current state and knowing what a clusterfuck this launch is going to be I can't do it.

Same here. Although I don't think I'll ever be purchasing it. When they announced their PvP system, that pretty much sunk all chances of me ever wanting to play it.

I'll wait for a Steam release, which means I'll probably be waiting forever. Fuck Bethesda.

Hmm...

Look on the bright side, if the game flops on BethNet they are more likely to release on Steam. And since both FO76 and BethNet are piles of crap, the odds of that happening are very high.

If they launched BethNet exclusivity with something like TES6 then yeah you're probably fucked. You're probably fucked anyway so better get used to it.

Well I also have a little over 14000 hours in a online game, Guild Wars (the first one,) since I got it in 2006. Anyway in less than 19 hours FO76 is released here in California which is today Nov 13.

HOLY SHIT how do you people do that...I think I had maybe 3000 hours max in each BF2, BF3, BF4...got account shamed for having 2500 hours in overwatch lol, I think I had maybe 2000 in guild wars since back in 2005 (day one account) before it got banned for excessive taunting in like 2008.

The time in that 14000+ hours in Guild Wars was from lots of different reasons: helping players get to new cities (being a runner,) repeating quests to get titles, reading chat about off topic things like current news, and chatting about it, spending time alone viewing and taking screenshots of the landscape, and about 500 hours of it may have been afk (away from keyboard.) Such as making dinner in the kitchen, doing chores or sleeping while leaving it on. For some reason Guild Wars didn't kick you off for inactivity.

I quit playing it because graphics in today's games are much better for textures and such. Despite all the quests and chatting I did in Guild Wars the overriding reason I play games is still for the graphics. Like Fallout 76 which is out now, like at this moment about 12 hours ahead of schedule, according to sites like PC Gamer. So I guess I'll go check the Bethesda site to see if it's really released.

Since the game is live now, figured I'd jump in for a bit.

Game plays like shit on my 1070ti
Getting like 30-50 frames.

Can I not change display settings in game?

This ui is horrendous.

Wowwwwww.

Thanks for the heads up!

I would be PISSED with whatever my sig rig could handle, I'm sure.

Game has crashed twice in an hour.

On low settings not getting much difference in frame rate. No idea what the hell is going on.

EDIT :
Default display setting was borderless windows.
Changed to full screen, now plays smooth as hell.

Something is not right then, make sure it's not in borderless window mode. Runs just fine at 1440p on my 1080.

Sigh....

Bethesda, you got me again!

Three hour download.... F8ck. Guess servers are getting hammered.

- Pausing the dl and restarting the launcher sped it right back up :)

EDIT: I just realized all my hardware upgrades for the past decade have coincided with Fallout releases -

Fallout 3 >>
A64x2 4400+
4GB DDR
3850 512MB

Fallout New Vegas >>
i5-750
8GB DDR3
5850

Fallout 4 >>
I5-750 (oc'ed)
16GB DDR3
960 4GB

Fallout 76 >>
X3470
16GB
980 Ti

Always about a month before release....

Why the fuck am I reconsidering picking this up? #ihaveissues
I am as well, quite bored at the moment. Just finished acod and don't have anything in my queue. Trying to see if I can convince a friend or two to grab it, not looking good though.
I think I will end up waiting for a few patches first. :)

My problem is, I never finish games. I think I have 4 or 5 games I still need to finish. I get bored too quickly...

Figured I'd give you guys a heads up: Go into your v-card control panel and enable Adaptive Vsync. (pretty much the only way to avoid the Day One Jitters)

Also, for all you fellow potato gamers: I'm currently running at the Medium preset with Adaptive Vysnc and it's a 95% smooth experience.

Last game, HWinfo64 said I maxed out at approx 75% cpu and 60% gpu with the Medium preset. So clearly I can raise some settings, but currently the whole game/network is unoptimized and I'd prefer smoother fps to shinier graphics.

My guess is once everything's stabilized, I'll be able to run at the High preset "smoothly" (minus settings shadow distance to medium because of my cpu)

- I'm going to bed. I'm gonna hate myself in the morning....

I want to give this game a try really I do but UI has never been that good maybe if you fly though the options with a controller it might be better.

One thing I see is a day night sequence it looks too dark for night that is always a problem.

I am REALLY glad I didn't buy this. I don't think i'll ever buy this regardless of my love of Bethesda games. It's just... NOT Fallout 5 and this is just a game I feel like nobody asked for. I just hope we get to Elder Scrolls 6 sooner rather than later. Now that FO76 is out Bethesda can focus on Starfield and once that releases in 2-4 years then we can get Elder Scrolls 6 hopefully before 2024 but likely won't happen.

Nobody asked to be able to play Fallout with their friends?
So if I google "Fallout multiplayer mod" I will find 0 results?

Lots and lots of people asked, no, BEGGED for this.

Yeah, here's the way I see it:

I've got a old buddy in CO with whom I do most of my MP gaming and F76 makes me infinitely happier than playing more f0cking PUBG/Starcraft 2 (our current staples)

To be honest, never was a Fallout fan (yeah yeah) but dude, this shit looks jankier than Elex, and that's the jankiest game I have ever played. Watching that video was painful, the mechanics of the AI looks painful, the graphics look terrible, its basically a kitting simulator which is fine since I imagine with more players you wouldn't run in circles but man...

Not for THIS, no. People wanted Fallout multiplayer (co-op, specifically). It didn't have to look like this.

Dude, nothing looks jankier than Elex.

Nothing looks jankier than any Piranha Bytes game, lol.

Ya, sadly looks like a hard pass for me. Not because I object to multi-player versions of single player games. Elder Scrolls Online was quite fun (until the bugs ruined it for me), different than single player ES games but well done. However this has forced PvP so that's a huge nope. Not because I am anti-PvP but when you make it something that can happen anywhere and there's no opt out, griefing is the inevitable result. Doesn't matter what you try to do, it happens, and happens a lot. The griefers will grief because they enjoy it, even if there's penalties, and given that many of them are younger with lots of time on their hands, they tend to be able to get powerful quite fast.

Unless they change that, I'm out.
