ive been looking at greentoe, but man with all the return horror stories i dont know if i want to risk it. Its a double whammie for me, because i want a 75" tv and it wont fit in my car so i have to have it shipped anyway.

Is greentoe a bidding type of store?
Not really. You name your price for an item, and greentoe tries to broker a deal with their suppliers. In my case, I offered $1300 and got a counter offer within minutes for $1439. Some people on slickdeals have posted better results (flat $1400) by waiting a few days, uppung their original offer and submitting again.

As stated before, YMMV. About the returns, I looked it up and it doesn't seem THAT bad. Maybe not the best for sure.

It's a great TV I bought mine for $1499 2 months ago from Beach Camera. I never used greentoe before though. Just remember though there are only 2 HDR10/Dolby Vision compatible ports so depending on your setup you will need a splitter for one of them. If you have any older equipment, component inputs there are none and composite type video you will have to buy an adapter to connect it to the TV that is not included. The GUI for me is fine and it is android based, but updating the firmware is slow IMO. There doesn't seem to be any discreet IR codes for each input which is a demerit since I can't program my remote to auto change to the proper input automatically. I do recommend getting some kind of strap to hold it down to avoid it from tipping. It has a stable base, but I can see it being pretty easy to tip over especially if you have kids that might grab the top of the tv and pull on it.

Make sure it's a 4K HDR compatible switch/selector though, as a splitter only duplicates a source input. Slow firmware updates aren't much of an issue since you can do it overnight/delay it to when you're not using the TV, unless you're talking about slow to get new updates. It's the Android TV UI that's slow, like most smart TV OSes. 4x A53 procs on the Sony doesn't help much with speed. Also just personal preference, but for a 60"+ TV, try to mount on the wall it if you can rather than put it on a stand. Much more secure.

Whoops, that should have read switch not splitter. I was pointing out the firmware update speed because you will be prompted to update the first time and you might just let it. If you are thinking it's like the PS4 update speeds, you would be mistaken it's much longer for the update to finish (not the download of the update but the actual flashing). So you might want to just skip it at first to try out your TV for a while before you do it. I let it update and I think it took like 15 minutes before I could use the TV the first time.

I've had this TV for a year, bought last year on an Amazon open box deal. When you turn it on, the firmware is a little laggy for about 5 seconds, also there's sometimes annoying 1-2 second system lags when you're exiting an app. It could very well be the apps themselves causing the issue too.

Picture wise it's a great set, I've been very happy with the upscaling capabilities and motion smoothing. It's bright as hell, and the colors are vivid. Can't go wrong on this set in my opinion.
