Just for comparison.

you have 2 more cores and 4 more threads, NOT FAIR LOL! im barking close tho

Wow, any idea how many phases the Max X Hero actually has?

ASUS should be ashamed. The Hero’s have been trustworthy boards. This damages the brand rep of ROG.

Buildzoid digs deeper into the Max XI:

Asus claims the "twin 8-phase" will be better than the doubled 8 phase due to lower latency and higher transient respobse, but Buildzoid isnt buying it and cites a faulty comparison.

I just ordered one from Newegg. Got tired of waiting plus since I pay no Tax with them vs Amazon, I figured I would jump on it. Hope it is actually IN STOCK as showing. lol

Your 8 5ghz cores are not as hard working as my 8 5GHz cores...

The CPU voltage is obviously reporting incorecctly.

2213 was already a great score by newls for 5 ghz. I am guessing you did a little better due to quad channel memory?

Just FYI to those still looking for an i9 9900k, try Provantage. I've had an order in with Amazon since 8 October, Newegg since 12 October, and B&H since around 20 October, none of which delivered. I placed an order at Provantage last night for $501.90 and I'll have my processor tonight.

That is so odd. How can you have an order with Newegg and not have it shipped yet while yesterday I scored one the put up for sale and it shipped this morning? I would assume all their pre-orders have been shipped by now.

Darn, Provantage has try CPUs. I wanted a price match screenshot.

Newegg is listing 9700Ks as In Stock at the moment. I forgot they started charging sales tax, so I'm going to wait on Microcenter.

No clue, but it's a bunch of BS. At least Newegg had some stock initially, unlike Amazon. They really dropped the ball.

In an interesting twist, Newegg shipped my 9900K and Fedex indicates that it's a 6 pound package. Hmm...

i started this thread many weeks ago cause I was so excited that i was able to get in on the amazon pre order with nearly a msrp price point. after 3 weeks of getting boned, i cancelled with amazon and the same day bought my 9900k on newegg in stock through the combo deals. So i sit here enjoying my 8c 16t 5.05ghz machine thanking the lovely folks here whom had told me newegg had the cpu's in stock. Amazon fucked this launch up with less then zero stock, and i feel bad for the peeps here waiting and not recieving

Probably volumetric weight.

I've been a pain in Newegg's ass lately so it's probably a CPU and 5 pounds of fuck you (or me in this case).

Seriously though, I ordered a motherboard from them and it shipped Fedex separately. It was 18x18x9 and weighed 5.8 pounds.

Compared to the CPU only at 16x8x12 and 6 pounds.

I just think it's interesting b/c volumetric weight should be higher on the motherboard.. but perhaps actual weight was just high enough for that to count instead.. who knows.

I'm hoping they sent me a surprise.

Single order? Maybe they sent the MB again?

that would be awesome.... errrr, i mean id be honest and would let them know i already recieved it :cautious:

I'm an honest guy but man they've been pissing me off this year. I don't know how many times I've chosen 2 or 3 day shipping where they've decided that ground from CA to halfway across the country would suffice. (among other things)

You're not legally required to return stuff you didn't order in the US. Ethically, though...

Anyway, how are the ROG and Strix Z370 boards for a 9700K? I'm not planning on going past 5.0 GHz all core.

edit: I kind of want good/decent Bluetooth/WiFi, a USB C connector on the back.

Any useful comments from somebody who's been using one for the past year or so?

So, here we are. Still no freakin 9900Ks. This is getting ridiculous.

Yup still waiting. Amazon sent me an email to confirm whether I want to cancel my preorder. I kept the preorder but still no ETA.

I bought a combo with the Asus board, then complained about the VRM situation, so they let me return the board for a refund. I lost my combo discount, but otherwise worked out. I didn’t really plan it, just didn’t do my homework.
Well to be honest, I dont think anyone was expecting that from Asus..at least not me. I am just happy I didnt jump on it earlier as I was waiting for the 9900k.
My situation was a bit different. I had troubles with the combo order going through so I ended up buying the 9900k only then they honored the $20 discount on the mobo. Of course they were STILL charging a lot more for the 9900k but oh well.. lol

I was a little pissed b/c I just wanted to get one of the other motherboards that were offered in the combo, and I was requesting this before the Asus MB even arrived. They wouldn't allow me to pick up one of those boards with the $20 discount, but they did allow the return.

For what it's worth, the Asus Hero works totally fine. Mine overclocks well, have had zero issues with it. Too lazy to pull it all apart and start over at this point.

Of course, I don't appreciate the false advertising. Or the lack of support and cold boot bugs on my Zenith Extreme. Not too impressed with Asus lately. I'll be going with another board manufacturer for my next one.

I'd recommend Asrock. That's what I'm using now, overall it's been great and I think better than Asus (but everyone has their own experience, of course).

asus went extrememly down hill for me after the x99 era.... charge way to much get 1/2 the quality and total shit rma process...

This is the experience I’ve had. My Z97 (lost PCIE slot and Ethernet port) and Z270 (lost M.2 mount, just popped right off) boards both broke in some different way. Knock on wood, Z370 (which I only bought b/c combo) is hanging in there.

Have an ASUS Z170 board that's quite nice, not even high-end; it's nicer than the ASRock boards I've been buying.

However, being a nice board doesn't mean that it provides a better overall experience. I had a poor experience with ASRock with the Z68/Z77 boards, but now with a Z270 ITX and a higher-end Z370 I can't say that they don't pull their weight.

I only read a bit about Z390 mobos because I'm out of the market for a 9900k - haha - joke there - but, from what I concluded, the best mobos will be from Asrock and Gigabyte (ironically or surprisingly) - Gigabyte seemed to have solved their vrm issues. I would look at those two if I was in the market for a Z390 mobo - and I might be if I decide to build a 2nd system - I'll be getting an i7 cpu though - if I do that.

My Asus X99 board was great at first, then it started having really slow boot times. I know it wasn't Windows, because I reinstalled fresh several times over the years, and the boot speed didn't really improve.

Then sometimes it would get stuck booting and require hard reset, etc. I know Asus is a good brand, and I think everyone either gets lucky or unlucky with a particular brand.

I have ASRock in this machine and an HTPC and they've been pretty nice, fast boot and no problems (well, there have been problems but I don't think were motherboard related).

Just received notification from Amazon that it should arrive this Wednesday...

Just ordered one today from Newegg (In Stock, no bundle needed), no tax and cancelled my Amazon order.

They been in stock all day at Newegg..
