Destiny 2

Don't know why people get so butt hurt over someone else's opinion.
This can be applied to everything in life sir! Gold star comment for the week!
If someone doesn't like it that's fine but someone else should have a chance to find out for themselves and maybe love it without being chastised for it. I got it for free ill play it and see if i like it for myself.

I dunno i gave the game a shot, and it really isn't too bad. At first I found jumping to be super awkward, but I have figured it out for the most part.

Beat the campaign last night....Not bad at all IMO. For free I can't complain.....And I am sorry this is way better than warframe because of 1 simple thing. Destiny 2 is a First Person View game. Warframe is not....Huge difference if you ask me!

Welp, its another quest step you can do in 20 minutes then we have to wait another week.

Bright side, Spider has the Arcadian Chord bounty so I can finish off my Nessus triumphs.

I'm just glad that Eververse has an exotic black cat themed ghost and a beacon. Bright dust = gone, but it was worth it.

I kind of like the more open world feel of the game, if the gf is decent at it might actually buy the expansion.

FYI: Game is Free on Battle.net until Nov 17.

I gave it a try last night, it wasn't too bad I dont get the flak this gets..

Just opinions man, some people like it some people don't, just form your own opinion and go with it. I liked Destiny the Forsaken King it was pretty good. It got a little boring after the endless grind but I played it quite awhile before it just wasn't fun anymore.

I need to solo (flawless?) the shattered throne this week. Really not looking forward to this.

Yup this was a huge disappointment for me. Its just a few lost sectors and then you have to wait a week again.

I've spent some time with Destiny 2 as well. I am not all that impressed with it. The core gameplay is decent and I like the visuals well enough. The weapons are one issue I have graphically as most of them are based on the AKM family of rifles in modern day. Stamped sheet metal guns in whenever the fuck this takes place? Its lasy as far as design work goes on the weapons. That aside, I think its good looking enough. Especially for what appears to be a console port. I think one of the biggest problems with the game is that the menus are a giant clusterfuck. Like ME1 and Andromeda levels of bad. There is no excuse for that. It makes traveling, using the character sheet and just about everything but combat more tedious and slower than it should. Perhaps you get used to it in time, but its so bad it detracts from the game to some extent.

Anyway.. back in the fans of the Destiny series who adore this game and want to see it succeed because there is nothing else like it (warframe is a joke in comparison) camp...

Just finished a totally out of the blue LFG run of the Leviathan raid that wasn't run by a sherpa. It became immediately apparent that I was the most knowledgeable person there which was scary as i've only been on sherpa runs myself and only 6ish times. No one was getting anywhere unless I explained the encounters which was both rewarding once we got it right but also super intimidating.

That was an incredible 3 hours or so and made new friends out of it. I just cannot get enough of this game, there truly isn't anything else that offers experiences like this in the FPS space with the same scope of activities and lore.

Its a shame D2 was such a shitshow at launch pushing so many people away. I'm so glad I gave it another shot with Forsaken as its quite literally a whole new game now.

A major problem the game has is I don't think its made clear how this isn't a casual jump in and shoot people kind of game. The experience changes drastically the more time you spend unlocking all the amazing weapons and exotics that I think casual FPS players get turned off quickly when they have crap gear.

While its super light on the MMO'ness, its still an aspect of the playing experience.

There is a grind but its quite rewarding.

Maybe earth made white/blue starting gear but.. with all three max level characters I don't have a single weapon that looks even remotely close to what we know in real life. If you think "most of them" look that way, you haven't had nearly as much experience with this game as you think, unfortunately.

I never said I had allot of experience with it. I've got only a few hours in it.

I have put in quite a nr of hours in this game, but I feel the game does a terrible job of explaining how it works and indeed the menu's are all kinds of crap, a quest log like in an MMO or traditional RPG could solve a bunch of issues (for me anyways) as would marking certain weapons as quest items so you don't delete them accidentally.

Thje game also still has some technical issues like some pretty long loads at times, I even managed to get a "load" screen mid game when just traveling around in the EDZ open world area's not to mention I have to underclock my CPU or it crashes within 15 min.

Let's be blunt, Destiny exists because of warframe, and warframe is more successful for a reason.

I bought the forsaken expansion and have been enjoying the game and might buy my gf the expansion after having her play warframe and deciding which she likes better.

We can agree to disagree. Comparing depth to the story, complexity of the raids and end-game content, there is no comparison. Warframe feels like a casual F2P game with very little emphasis on story, history and lore.

Destiny began development in 2010 by the Halo team at Bungie to be a completely new universe and gameplay experience combining element of a traditional shooter like there last game (Halo) and an MMO like WoW.

Warframe, while a solid F2P experience doesn't hold a candle to the depth of Destiny 1&2, especially now with Forsaken.

There is a free trial for Gambit this weekend for anyone that wants to try some of the newer content out. They also have the forsaken expansion on sale for 25% off as well. A great chance for everyone trying the game out after getting the base game free to get all of the current content.

Thanks for the heads up. If I can find a few hours, I may look into it.

5 more sleeper nodes for the Triumph... I'm getting nothing but duplicates. This RNG sucks.

Grinding for the Horror Story sucked, but I wish I had completed it earlier. I was stalled at 540 until I got it. The HS drops at 600 which immediately helps but now all powerful gear drops are significantly higher. I have gone from 540 to 583 in about a week and a half.

Yeah, that was a great way for people to boost their PL quickly. Annoyingly i was at 600 already when I got it but w/e. Not a bad auto rifle but.. its an auto rifle. Always a more effective weapon to be using.

They were way better in Y1 I feel like and Origin Story was my go-to for a long time. Then the Midnight Coup happened and its forever in that slot.

I still keep a Braytech Winter Wolf auto rifle handy … for special occasions.

I just hit level 45, just the forsaken expansion left to do for the story. I am helping the gf finish the main campaign and first 2 dlc (let's be honest, that's what they are, not expansions) then on to forsaken together.

I for one wish the comparisons would stop. destiny and warframe are completely different games in many ways. destiny is appearing to be an ongoing cash grab where players are milked in every way possible for as much as possible. Initial content being shit that later gets "fixed" through expansions.

Warframe has incredible depth in terms of what it gives the player. You don't need to spend a dime and can still have access to pretty much all content and most items. The story is somewhat haphazard in that the game was built first and story content was added towards then endgame. Every year sees a vast amount of content added to the game and this includes customization options that other games can only dream of.

Anyway.

Helped a friend get this week's run of the Heroic Whisper mission tonight for his catalyst and we wanted a third so we used the app.

Dude joined and literally soloed the damn thing while we "helped". Beat it with 9 minutes on the timer. Sheesh. Some people are nuts.

Snagged the game for the free download.. I haven't done a MMO before so just making sure my bearings are ok.. This game's suitable for solo play, right? I am fumbling around and managed to level up to 7 with minimal fuss and off to Titian.. I guess.. to do what ever. Wandered into some 'public event' instances and that seemed to go.. well.

I played solo all through year 1 no problem. However, this game is infinitely better playing with others.

I highly suggest checking out the100.io to find a group based on your playstyle, age and hours you're on.

As for the public events, you'll want to quickly learn how to activate the "Heroic" version so people don't get upset with you. Haha.

Every event across all the planets has a trigger that will turn the event Heroic. This makes it a little more difficult to complete but nets higher rewards from the chest at the end. Certain bounties require a number of Heroic events and going Heroic nets more progress towards Flashpoint completion if its that planet at the time.

Essentially, there is no reason you shouldn't always go for the Heroic trigger.

Hmm.. I don't know know that was a thing or even how to do it. I sort of just wandered into an area that got dark, had a timer (I think), and a few PCs jumping around shooting waves of enemies.

As you encounter more public events, it's helpful to watch what other players are doing and emulating it. At this point you'll find that most players know how to make the events heroic and how to clear them in an efficient way. Those are a great way to get strong weapons for the first 1/2 of the game. Even after you get further, they still occasionally drop exotics and they're a good source of money and resources.

Yup, public events will spawn every few minutes at various locations on the map. You'll see them on the in game map for 4-5 minutes before they begin geliving you enough time to get there. Once you do, you can "Rally to the flag" that's there to refill your ammo and super so make sure what you want to use is equipped.

It will say on the screen which event it is with basic instructions on what to do.

Heroic PEs are a great way to level to 50 as well. I think one of the quickest. XP gains for the time involved is pretty good especially if you just keep bouncing between them

you miss the point, go to youtube and put in destiny 2 and warframe. to save you the trouble,

Anyone looking to run Last Wish, there is a Sherpa run available on /r/DestinySherpa!

I've said it before but Sherpa'd raids are some of the best experiences i've had in Destiny to date. Every one has been run by a very mature, calm and better yet experienced Sherpa who always got us all to the end no matter how many wipes.

If you meet the requirements, get in on that!

I think it'll be interesting to see where things go with Destiny 3. They basically went with the exact same strategy from #1 with #2, only the competition is much greater right now. With more and more games featuring multiplayer elements (but not going full MMO), Destiny isn't really unique in that regard. There are also more and more F2P games that don't suck.

I'll be shocked if we don't see at least one more expansion, but I don't think the company is behind Destiny 2 long-term.
