Fallout 76

Game is literally unplayable for me. Turning the settings down to 720p low still only nets me 8-10 fps. 2600X/16GB and a 4GB RX570. Can barely even select menu items because the mouse is so laggy and I can damn near see the frames changing its so slow.

That sounds like drivers....

I'm sure that'll be sorted out via a new Crimson driver around launch etc.

Yes! Fallout with the Borderlands style co-op and I'd never leave the house.

This would be untouchable and they couldn't have been unaware that this concept would have gone over way better with many if not most gamers up for something like this.

Yep and they could have still pushed their agenda of selling mods. Lazy development & failure to use the old noggin.

A lot of the stuff they're whining about is standard beta stuff. We don't know how old the build used for the beta is vs. what their gold master and I don't think it's necessarily fair.

That said, for the first time, I'm taking a "wait for reviews" approach to a Fallout game. I just don't think it's fair to judge the game based on the beta, at least with respect to glitches.

I played the beta and my gripes had nothing to do with the technical aspect of the game. Actually, my in game performance was pretty good for the 2+ hours I played and I thought the game looked great in comparison to an unmodded FO4.

Going into the BETA, I did not give much concern about the lack of NPCs, and I still don't think that's the real issue. For me the real issue was the laziness that most of the "quests" are delivered in and the lack of mystery since we already know everyone is dead. I cancelled my Pre-order mainly because even the helmet couldn't justify $160 purchase (BB discount), but I may still pick this up somewhere down the road, probably middle of next year depending on how it's going.

No Ultra wide support in 2018... Yea, no thanks .

I like Fallout 3 and 4 but man, they are the biggest POS games I have ever played. Have to edit config files, just to get ultrawide support on Fallout 4 which isn't that old of a game and disable weapon debris because it crashes the game....

Fallout 3 didnt work on Windows 10 without installing some Windows Live family g thing that I seem to remember having to do something wired with to even install in win 10....

All the comments in this thread dont even surpruss me. I'm still interested in the game, but I'm fine watching others play at the moment. I do think need to experience this hands on when I can watch someone get frustrated for free on Twitch.

I think this is Bethesda games in general, or possibly the Gamebryo engine. I had an Ultrawide when F04 first came out and spent more time messing with the .ini file than actually playing the game. I have since given in and moved on to 4K and actually like it better, but understand the love for 21:9.

Complaints were about technical issues, crashes, widescreen issues, framerate issues, horrible UI issues (popping open pip boy to select healing while being attacked realtime), gang rape issues, monsters stuck in spread arm poses, trash quests, no real story, etc. That is a pretty hefty list of complaints.

But this is the final game. Do you really think Bethesda is holding back another version of the game that will be all rainbows and unicorns on release date? No. This is it. They don't even have enough time to address these issues come launch.

Hrmmm... I'm a weirdo. I enjoyed my time with 76 yesterday and look forward to more. The graphics are potato compared to other games. It doesn't play like newer games either. However, I liked being able to just explore and figuring out what happened. For example - the dude that committed suicide in the lumber mill via log splitter was brutal.

That was a good video to watch sealing the deal for me that this thing is a definite no for the near future. Honestly I hated ESO when it came out as well, it's a pretty good game now but jumping on the early train with that one was a waste of money for me, and I feel the same way about this one. Gonna be a while until this thing is fully baked and actually enjoyable. The only thing saving it from complete and utter failure is the same thing that saved ESO...it's a Bethesda game with a huge following. People will still spend the money, or wait, and spend it later when the game is finished and come back for the "re-launch" - it's just a shame that they can't get it right the first time. Fallout 5 on a new engine with drop in co-op is the only thing I ever wanted and seems to be a huge consensus amongst others. Why they decided to drop this huge pile in the state it's in, wish I could say.

I know there are lots of complaints about FO76...and rightly so...but I had a good time with the Beta. I fully expect the game to have bugs...to not be as polished....etc. I probably should expect more but overall the gameplay was fun and it was cool exploring the world. The quest system worked well (aside from the bugged quests) but I'm going to stick with it.

Number 1: There are no server checks to verify models or file integrity. Want to make trees smaller, or player models bright colors to see them easier? Go right ahead, here are the tools to do it!

Number 2: Terrain and invisible walls/collision is client side! Want to walk through walls? Open up that beautiful .esm file and edit it. The server doesn't care or check!

Number 3: Want to save money on server hardware and make ping a little more manageable? Go ahead and open up client to client communication but don't encrypt it or obfuscate it in anyway. Open up Wireshark while playing and nab anyone's IP you want! Send packets to the server to auto use consumables, all very nicely and in plain text! Even get health info and player location, why waste time injecting the executable and getting nabbed by anti-cheat when you can get all info from the network!

Number 4: Want to grief people and be a God? Go ahead and keep looping the packet captured in Wireshark reporting you gave full HP. Why would the server care about something as little and not game breaking like this?!?! It's a great idea to let the client tell the server it's state and the server not check anything it's being told! The possibilities with this are endless and probably able to just give yourself items by telling the server you picked it up!

Number 5: Someone in your game being mean? Again have Wireshark? Well let's just forge a packet with the disconnect command in it and knock them offline!

In conclusion: Bethesda should not have just made

Many of you know me as a [H]ardcore Fallout Enthusiast. I've either pre-ordered or day 1 purchased every Fallout game and have roughly 14,000 hours in Fallout 3 alone.

Many of the issues Fallout 76 has shouldn't have existed in the BETA.

- High refresh rate - which a whole slew of other games support - should have been implemented without the speed glitch occurring.

- Push to talk is also another option which should have been implemented upon first inception along with Team only Speak. I don't want to listen to some idiot constantly whining in my ear.

- FOV bullshit. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 are set at 120 because any lower setting tires my eyes way too soon and makes me a bit queezy in the gut. Many other games support this feature right off the bat and Fallout 76 should have done the same.

With all these issues/features present I'm out. In the future I will be hesitant to pre-purchase any Fallout or Elder Scrolls game from Bethesda since it is readily evidenced by Fallout 76 that they haven't been listening to their Fan Base. Saddening, really because I firmly believe that if a company produces a quality product right out of the gate they'll make money hand over fist.

Maybe I'll hit-up Fallout 76 at a later date but for now I'm out.

Refund being processed as of yesterday.

110 fov ftw.
106 master race.

If 90 hFOV at 4:3 is reference then 100 at 16:10, 106 at 16:9, and 120 at 21:9 would be optimal. Games should just have a fixed vFOV of 74 and then calculate the hFOV from that based on resolution.

It's always been different for every game for me... anywhere from 90-110. Just keep cranking it up until you see fish eye, then back off a few notches. :)

6 DLC's already planned. Full of Microtransactions....hahahaha. Suckers.
