Fallout 4's B.E.T.A. launched on PC yesterday, and as anyone who's played Bethesda's previous Fallout titles would expect, there were some issues. For starters, the beta launched 2 hours earlier than scheduled. Many players found that Bethesda launcher force them to redownload the 50GB game, an issue that Bethesda has acknowledged and reportedly fixed. Without a relatively simple mod to fix the issue, Fallout 4 and Skyrim both break at framerates above 60 FPS. But according to PC Gamer, Fallout 76's beta will happily run at higher framerates, just not out of the box. VSync needs to be manually disabled in the graphics driver control panel, and like previous titles, the game doesn't have an FOV option yet. In response to the launcher issues, Bethesda is extending the beta window on Thursday, but I haven't found an official response to the framerate and FOV issues yet.

We know some users have been forced to redownload the #Fallout76 B.E.T.A. and not everyone will be able to enjoy the game tonight. To make good, we’ll be extending the B.E.T.A. for everyone on Thursday, November 1, 2pm to 11pm ET. Thanks for your patience. #ExtendtheBeta

Yea reviews aren't looking good. I decided to skip this one because of the PvP gameplay (or lack thereof)

This video sums up my experience. Unless you really really love fallout...cancel your pre-orders and wait a year and hopefully the game becomes NON SHIT by then.
Whiny game review of an unreleased game during it's initial beta test... How valid will this opinion be once optimized video drivers are released? I'll be trying out for myself tomorrow and I will form my own opinion. I anticipate there will be problems and subsequent patches but I'd rather be playing and participating in the solution than waiting...

I played for 2 hours......Game had no heart to it and wasn't that fun. I didn't like Fallout 4 (just didn't compare to 3/NV), and this is basically a watered down fallout 4 with multiplayer.

It's using the same engine they've been using the past 10 years.... it's not going to get much better with graphics drivers. They don't even support ultrawide screens or screens over 60hz.

Game just isn't fun to play. It's like playing fallout 4 devoid of life/substance besides these other players running around doing whatever.

All that effort should have gone into another F4 expansion...and a custom siege mode! Build your base, defences, populate it and see how it stacks up to hoards of super mutants, raiders etc.

I played the game. It is TRASH on PC....especially @ $60 I am not sure you even watched the whole video. His video summarizes the exact problem with this game right now.

It was a hard no after watching the one preview video of the "online" play that was people just silently running around and then the nuke with giant sprite leaves blowing towards the player over and over.

i remember way back.. beta testing a new game.. we all called anarchy..offline.. and the end of beta event didnt go as planned and everyone was stuck in the area to port down to the surface.

Let this game burn to the ground, sweep up its ashes, and toss it into the garbage.

HAHA Anarchy Online was a shit show at launch but I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the funnest experiences of my life. That game stole my soul for 8 damn years. Granted I was only 12 when the game came out and 3D world MMO's were mind blowing to me but nothing else has come close to capturing the depth of that game.

But yes, I do remember being stuck in the starting zones "Backyard" with 100 other people because when you would try changing area it would say "Zone not initiated on server." and kick you back out.

One fact...it's 15 days away from RELEASE!

I'm I die hard, irrational Bethesda RPG fanboy, and I would never pre-order anything from them. All of their games after Morrowind needed at least a year of patches and mod development, though I'm not sure how that'll work with FO76.

I know we're talking about a beta here, but Bethesda's release history isn't exactly a good omen.

EDIT: Also, I might've been wrong about framerates above 60FPS? I'm seeing reports of framerate being tied to movement speed.

Standing still everything looks fine, but looking and moving around just looks janky. Might be because they have it locked at 60hz and I'm used to 144hz but this just looks bad for a game that looks like it came out in 2013.

I was upset, still am a bit. This is on AWS and they did not give us extra bandwidth after screwing up the launcher and many of us did not get to play.

More importantly the key bindings and a few other things are either broken or not there. Ir they cannot get it mostly like F4 and fix the keys I will cancel my pre order.

I loved Fallout 4 and tried Fallout NV afterwards and hated it; horrible unplayable interface.

There are some good UI mods out there. I think I user darnified with NV, but it seems to be hidden in the Nexus for some reason?

If you ever go back to NV, you should check this out: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57174
yup. All bethesda games have a horrible keyboard and mouse interface. Mods usually fix it.

That's what's even worse about FO76....they aren't going to allow modding, so you're stuck with the shitty interface whether you like it or not.

I was super annoyed for the first 30 minutes, yesterday.....no ultrawidescreen, 16:9 resolutions either stuck in the top-left corner of the monitor or stretched out, and just the clunky UI in general....but after I remembered how to override the scaling modes and was able to run a 16:9 resolution with black bars at a solid 120fps, I really enjoyed my playtime. There really were A TON of things to be annoyed about with the game, but I really enjoyed FO4 and FO76 just seems like an extension of it with more things to kill and a more interesting map.

Yep, no more modding the .ini files , mouse acceleration, FOV ect. All the things we've learned to fix through the years are now mainstay in this title. No thanks, I'm not that much of a glutton for punishment.

Yep I have 900 hours in F4. F4 was my first time at a Fallout game so on the basis of that I got all the others on Steam. I loaded up FNV and I just cant get into it. As you say the interface is cumbersome, the colours look crap and I can't be doing with weapon and armour degradation (which I was really put off on F76). Havent dared try 3/2 or 1 yet, though I appreciate 1 and 2 are a different style of game.

At the end of the day I just love exploring, finding cool stuff and interacting with interesting NPC's.

You can change the color of the UI in the options.

I played last night for a little over three hours without any noticeable performance issues. While I have a group lined up to play with headphone and mic, I played last night solo, and ended wanting to play more when the time ran out at 11.00pm.

Looking forward to Saturday and Sunday...

Its not a beta. Its a network stress test and a paid demo. No game is in a beta phase under a month before release. The game is likely already finished, or close to finishing, the approval process from MS and Sony, meaning its ready to get pressed onto discs and shipped to stores. This is not an "unreleased" game, barring a day one patch, you are playing the final version of the game. There are bugs that trace back to fucking Morrowind and you expect it to magically get better? Optimized drivers generally do basically nothing for games. Everyone says "wait for the optimized drivers" and when they're out, games that performed poorly continue to perform poorly. Drivers can do a lot, but they're not magical fixes and they can only do so much to help Bethesda's shitty engine. This is Fallout 4 with some new mechanics and a paint job, any problems from that game will exist here. Major issues that have remained unfixed in the engine since Morrowind will NEVER be fixed. You will always have major physics bugs, always have weird texture and graphical issues, always have randomly broken quest chains, and so on.

Playing the game does not make you part of the solution. It makes you part of the problem. Bethesda is never going to feel pressure to fix their shit and get away from Gamebryo if people keep buying their broken ass games. They should have dumped the engine after Fallout 3 instead of doing a half-assed update to it and trying to pretend Creation isn't still Gamebyro.

Read the title of this thread: "Fallout 76 Beta Extended Following Launch Issues". It's a "beta" . Only a small fraction of people are going to loading the program from disk and those who do will be immediately promoted to download final patches. There will be patches before it is launched and there will be patches after it is launched. If you were to remove every piece of software that has bugs there would be nothing left to buy.

Millions of people love Fallout 4 and have hundreds of hours playing it. None of us care what you think. I personally think Blizzard is a messed up company with messed up products but I do not troll Blizzard threads ranting and raving. I moved on and found games I enjoy. Maybe you should do the same...

No, they call it a beta because marketing tells them to do so. It is NOT a beta. It is a near final game. The console versions of the "beta" are what they would have sent to Sony and MS for certification. There is nothing beta about it and it wouldn't have been in beta for months now as it takes months to do proper QA. There is a big difference between having bugs and being utterly broken. There is also a difference between having bugs and refusing to fix major issues for over a SIXTEEN YEARS. They will patch some things, others will never get patched as they're likely faults with the engine. The brain dead stupidity involved in the decision to tie game speed to frame rate will never be fixed as it would likely require a pretty big rewrite of large portions of the physics engine. This speed problem has existed since, at least, Oblivion which released in 2006. That's 12 years without fixing a major issue. What makes you think they will magically improve now? This game is a lazy retooling of Fallout 4, warts and all. What exactly gives you the impression that they'll actually put in the effort to fix these long standing engine bugs? Not even modders, spending years focusing on fixes and patches for some of these games, have been able to unfuck certain aspects of the Gamebyro engine. You're expecting a day one patch and "optimized drivers" to be a magic cure-all. They won't be.

Hey good for them. I found it to be boring and not worth spending much time with compared to the hundreds of hours I put into 3 but, hey that's me. Glad people enjoyed it. If you don't care what i think then use the ignore feature. This is a public forum and as long as I'm not breaking rules I can say whatever the fuck I want to say to whomever I want to say it to. I wouldn't be "ranting and raving" about the problem if I didn't actually care about these games, or Bethesda, and wanted it to be different. I've liked most Bethesda games for damn near 20 years now, I've just grown tired of the bullshit and them refusing to fix their shit.

Fallootbox. Micro transactions are implemented very well I assume, knowing that, this game was ready to ship out before the beta. As long as the micro transactions work it is a fully working game from Bethesda's view point.
