One or two reshades for the graphics seem to work for me. Don't know if anyone else has tried a reshade, haven't read the whole thread.

One mod that may be of interest to others besides me is a Hud Toggle mod on Nexus which I installed and it works. Turns off/on the whole hud with one key. To be fair should tell you it also turns off game menus, so you'll have to tap the key again to get menus to appear (Inventory, Abilities, Quests, etc.)

It's hard for me to imagine something else unseating this as personal GOTY for me. Hitman 2 is going to be awesome for me. RDR 2 is good but has some issues (subjective preference issues)... so that's putting this in a very strong spot.

Here is a question: Is the Minotaur in Knossos Palace part of the main story or just a side quest that you can do later on if you want to or not to complete the game?

There are three main story threads in the game, you can see a summary on the far right side of your screen on the quest menu. It's called Your Odyssey or something like that. If you don't see 3 separate icons then that means you haven't started them yet.

I think technically the Family questline is the actual "main campaign" though.

man this game is HUGE....

like22 hours in, thought I was done in Phokis (sp?) only to realize there was an entire section of it I didn't even explore. I'm supposed to be going to Andros.

IMO the game would have been a lot better if the map was 1/2 the size. I am 100 hours in and only about 2/3rs the map explored. Once you hit the level cap the useful new stuff slows to a trickle and the game becomes somewhat of a grind.

The map size is fine but you level too fast as a completionist. Contract quests give like 1/3 XP bar and it's generic shit like "Sink 10 Spartan ships". And every bounty board has their own contracts, sometimes duplicates, so you can end up with 50+ contracts simultaneously and half of them are identical.

Alternatively, the level cap is too low. But that introduces a different problem since content stops scaling past 50+ (for example the highest level Cultist is 50).

I've been playing on Nightmare at 1/5 XP and it's been fantastic. I'm level 38 with a little over half the map cleared.

The level cap seems to be 60 on the Google Stream version.

the leveling system is good and bad. it is good that they gate content that way. bad in that you then have to level your armor and weapons, and it costs a shit-ton of resources to do that each time. It might have been better if it was just "use what you find" vs the constant leveling. As an RPG it is also fairly weak. You basically have 3 builds and when you choose one, you stack damage types that maximize that specific build, and done. That being said, it is an awesome game, one that took a vast amount of research and development and it shows. It is not perfect though.

I tend to think the flaws in the game are due to the monetization model that virtually everyone is forcing upon people. Why are there so many pointless and non-story related areas to visit? It all amounts to a bunch of checkmarks on a list if you want to be completionist. They do not make the game better.

I wouldn't mind the lvl system if everything scaled to your level, up and down. Content gating only makes sense if higher lvl content is actually HARDER thus preventing a noob player from getting in over his head. In ACOD there is no difference between a level 1 enemy and a level 50 enemy. The gating is totally arbitrary. XP scaling is impossible to balance for everyone which is why a game like this needs the Skyrim approach to leveling. That way you can do whatever you want, wherever you want, and you won't feel held back.

If Ubisoft made an AC game with a procedurally generated map and infinite randomizerd ? marks to clear I would probably play it until I died. I could stealth clear enemy camps/forts forever. I will finish ACOD and still want more.

Also as far as story content goees, Euboea was the best. And it was an independent island totally detached from the main campaign. I also heard good things about Delos but I didn't like it as much.

the big battles in each area, is there a reason to even do them? that whole mechanic sseems kind of pointless or am I missing something?

Nope just for some XP and gear.
It also causes the leader, and all the forts and their nation loot to reset.

Which FYI - You don't need to do the battle to reset things. I'm not sure how long it takes exactly but the battle will auto resolve and reset everything.

No live event this week.

This game needs armor transmog so bad. The armor sets look really cool but the stats are so bad. Especially since it's Warrior-only.

As a FYI, if anyone is struggling with materials and you have money, the easiest way to get a lot is to buy purple weapons and armor and deconstruct them. Weapons give wood and furs, armor only gives furs (and both give other stuff, but none if that is really rare)

Actually the game gets easier as you level up, not harder. The levelling system is complete bullshit in the game, it is pointless. Apart from preventing you from exploring into higher level areas, or doing quests that are marked higher level. I agree that they should have used something similar to skyrim or fallout. I put over 50 hours into the game, and there are still areas on the map I can't venture into because of my level.

But the worst is when you start a quest that spirals into another quest that requires you to be 10 levels higher than you actually are. So you have to interrupt the thought and go away do something else, then come back like nothing happened.

If not for the levelling system, the game would be close to perfect, with only minor issues here and there, but the levelling is a major thorn. And ofc the pushing of microtransactions, which I suspect is why the leveling is implemented as is.

Yup. 47 hours in and I've only cleared a few areas. Exploration seems a lot better than Origins, but the numerous side quests are a bit overkill. Still enjoying it though.

Pro-tip: Ignore hourglass quests, and any quest on the bounty board with a range indicator on it. Except the daily/weekly orchi quests... Do those.

the orchi quests just allow you to participate in the monetization scheme. there are a few good things only available there but if you skip them you are not missing much, especially since some of them are annoying search for naval ships BS

They are good if you really need to get levels, XP, and money but there comes a point if you are far enough with these things then you can decide to be more selective. In terms of "quest depth" the explanation marks definitely have more going for them. It would be more about prioritizing.

I basically come in to an area, take everything off the bounty board, hit everything on the map, and as I play and I get along...things just get done. :) Exclamation points are first priority when I see them and then I just work out from there.

The gold colored quests are the important ones. The others are fine if you need them and enjoy them. but if you can handle tons of enemies it may be more fun to unlock new areas, fight conquest battles, take down forts with tons of enemies, especially country leaders with lots of elites around him. Endgame wise you just want to collect purples, and that is what gets the purples.

Because they're the library definition of "fetch quests". The MMO style "kill x number of Z type of enemy" It has no narrative, they're just randomly generated quests with a canned dialogue. There are hundreds of regular side quests in the game, with proper narrative and dialogue, there is absolutely no need to waste time with the random generated filler content, unless you plan on spending hundreds of hours with a single playtrough.

I still have dozens of regular exclamation point quests that I ignored, and probably 25-30% of the map unexplored, with hundreds of ? in every area even in explored areas. After 60 hours. There is no way in hell I'm ever going to need the hourglass or bounty board quests to pad gametime.

I agree, they're fairly worthless. It's cool they put them in for those that like that type of thing but you really don't need them.

So the end result will be that if enemies give you problems, do the trash quests, otherwise, focus on mission/forts/conquests. :)

man I'm going to end up being the biggest whore in Greece....sleeping with girls, guys, young and old.

The costs to upgrade Gear items has been decreased.
That's welcome. I'm like level 45 and still using gear that is lvl 29. The cost of upgrades are monumental. And when the gap opens up like that there is not even an option to upgrade the gear only as many levels as your resources allow it. I wish they just removed the entire gear levelling from the game. It's a stupid distraction, nothing else.

And yes, I know you can farm resources by doing naval battles, but don't expect me to lower myself to such things. I'm trying to avoid naval battles as any ship captain would in reality, unless absolutely necessary.

So you can auto craft the basic arrows but not the others.

Probably the fixed the most annoying bug in the game which was animal hitboxes. I haven't tested much but they seem to work properly now.

Herodotos no longer stands directly next to your ship helm, so you don't talk to him by accident anymore.

The wet clothes effect has been added back into the game, as well.

I've finished all quests from the odyssey category, there is nothing left to do, but uplay says main progression: 94% What am I missing here?

The "40% damage with bows when above the target" engraving has been changed from Chest to Weapon. Oof. Guess that means I'm stuck wearing the same chest for the rest of the game.

edit: Okay so the engraving doesn't even work on the chest anyway. Maybe the patch disables it or maybe it never worked. o_O
