Amazon and Apple have already voiced their displeasure over Bloomberg’s Chinese spy chip allegations, but sources say the companies are now retaliating against the publication in more clever ways. Amazon has reportedly pulled its fourth-quarter advertisements from Bloomberg’s website, while Apple has supposedly banned them from attending next week’s iPad event in Brooklyn.

The canceled (and rebought) ads come amid intense criticism of Bloomberg’s story about Amazon and Apple, the other major firm named in the report as a victim of the Chinese hack. In an interview with BuzzFeed News last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook called on Bloomberg to retract the story. On Monday, Amazon Web Services CEO Andy Jassy seconded Cook.

That will teach them to report on a subject that irritates the masters of the universe. Remember, these are globalist corporations that view China as their future. They are invested in a diminishing America and a rising China.

Amazon and Apple have armies of lawyers and could easily afford to sue for libel. They aren't suing Bloomberg. What does that tell you?

My guess as to why the companies are not suing is because that would be much more present/visible to the public. That visibility would very likely be very negative to apple/Amazon's image. Removing add revenue is a much stealthier response and the public will not pay attention

Yep. Whether the story is true or not doesn't matter in the public eye. A lot of people are going to side with Bloomberg regardless the facts, and a lot of people are going to align themselves with Apple & Amazon regardless the facts. Either way, all 3 companies would be hurt.

Right now, most people don't even know what SuperMicro is, and the story has been absent completely from the news (excluding financial news), where the public is unaware.

How? If the claims were false then suing for libel and winning would make it perfectly clear to the public that the story was false.

I suspect they can't really do anything other than ask for a retraction and pull ads because there's an ongoing espionage investigation.

Gotta say Apple and Amazon are going a bit far on a story that quite frankly most probably forgot about already. That in itself says something.

Going to attack the whole China spying on the internet story too?

  1. Multi-billion dollar multinationals suing each other in civil court is a very long, slow process that would take months and risk unearthing vast amounts of confidential information in discovery. It'd basically be a six month long free drip-feed of content for Bloomberg.
  2. Public figures suing news agencies have a ridiculously high burden of proof to meet in order to prove an actionable defamation claim. It can't just be libel; it has to be libel with "actual malice".

Not gonna lie, I was on Bloomberg's side initially but with other news agencies basically noting nothing substanital behind it and their own refusal to elaborate, I'm gonna side with Apple, Supermicro, and Amazon until further news appears.

Shame, I thought Bloomberg was good.

i dont even think its that most people are going to side WITH bloomberg as much as they are AGAINST the other side of this whole issue. i am one such person (i know.. huge surprise). i do not for one second believe that bloomberg has the proof to back up what they're saying. that doesnt mean its not true, but it DOES mean that if you move forward without it... and you get slammed like this.... you should have known there would be such repercussions.

as for my support for anyone, its starting to look like both sides are in a tiger by the tail situation that neither side can break out of for who knows what reason

They question is China maybe did it. But did they do it for their government or ours? Amazon is basically the CIA at this point. Are they stuck for some reason not replacing a few server boards for good measure and then the issue would be forgotten.

This is one of the primary issues when media agencies are overly reliant upon advertising revenue to keep their doors open. Apple and Amazon are two very big fish with large pools of cash to splash around when it comes to their advertising budget. There wouldn't be too many places brave enough to sling mud at Apple/Amazon (whether true or not) and then in turn lose a large source of revenue.

I'm surprised by this weak ass playground response. The story was very damning, especially for Supermicro, and this is it?!

This is so stealthy that we're talking about it on a public forum.

Since the alleged hack was hardware based, it should be pretty easy to dredge up one of the hypothetical chips, if they existed.

Since none have been produced, one must assume they are the beast under the bed.

Lawsuits are not instant things. Libel cases can take years. That can easily generate bad press at any time

Compared to a lawsuit? That span multiple years producing multitude of stories? Yes this is stealthy. How long are any of us going to remember this one story that's not being covered by any of the major news networks? Not very lonh

Common practice from corporations. Example. A lot of fucking people read game reviews/ Tech reporting sites online and you begin to why in the fuck they are rating certain things in favor of shitty product that being sold to the consumer base. All gaming companies buy ads to turn marketing sites into organ grinders. That's why you see this bullshit... and it is getting worse.

IF apple and other are doing this tactic it certainly shows that they have something to hide. And there is some truth in the report.

Remember Those assholes are in my back yard. And Tim Cook can really suck it. He has turned Apple into a worthless Tech company in creativity. But his fucking retarded Cult keeps them rolling in the money.

Then again it's the same retarded mentality by people that keeps me happy too. But I would like to see some common sense in my lease holders than a 10S Max in their pocket.

So he is earning stockholders more money with less invention risk. Sounds like he is doing what a CEO should do.

We checked at my job for our super micro hardware before I left the company. We determined it to be false and side with Apple and AWS

The Amazon one doesnt bother me. But the Apple one just seems petty.
