all the graphics have been replaced by fancy RGB bling...
Yeah. My Asus Strix 1080ti was a perfect example of it done right, I think: neutral color scheme, with the RGB being accents rather than eye-stab.Not always a bad thing, as long as it's done in moderation. However, hardware manufacturers are not known for moderation so it gets a bit crazy sometimes.
What happened to them? The universe corrected itself and they went the way of the dodo bird.

Good riddance.

(A bunch of pictures of Palit GPUs with the Frog mascot graphics.)
Good riddance.
The crimes against good taste section of the card makers marketing departments decided that frag harder disco lights were the next big thing and are wasting their money on them instead of tasteless sticker art.
But didn't these coincide with the start of 'case modding' and putting a big window in the side of the case? Then you could see it--kinda.It never made much sense to me with the graphics on the cards as most of the time you couldn't even see them.
No lie, that's a badass van. If the interior has a similar theme, they should win best of show.
Could almost be converted in to a Witcher type theme. I'm surprised there aren't game-themed graphics cards.
you don't think the side kind of gives off a "golden axe" slash conan the destroyer vibe?
just me, i guess
None of you guys like old 70s and 80s vans with wizards, lightning bolts, and hot chicks painted on the sides?

I think we just switched from graphics to lights.

It's interesting to see how far we've come in a decade, not only in styling, but price and performance as well:The 8800 GTS card actually even came with a bad ass T-Shirt too. Those were the days. Those cards cost 1/5th the price of the price of the Geforce RTX 2080 Ti I just bought, LOL.

8800gt vs 2080ti
Price increase 5x
Memory size increase of 21.5x
Memory bus increase 1.375x
Memory clock increase 1.94x
Effective Memory clock increase 7.78x
Memory bandwidth increase 10.69x
Gpu clock increase 2.16x
Pixel rate increase 13.6x
Texture rate increase 12x
Shading unit increase 38.85x
Power TPD increase 2x
FP32 performance increase 38.33x
Interesting that in the end while the price is 5x and the power is 2x, the performance is more like 12x.
This is the only card I've ever had with crazy graphics on it of any sort. I still have it though.

Was there a King Kong game, or did it come with the movie? Just wondering why they would put that on a GPU.
thats weird! the page description says "comes with the hottest 3d game: king kong" didn't even know they made one and this is a weird tie-in.I bought it second hand but I believe it came with the movie because they were touting how it supported HDCP

EDIT: this is what it came with, not sure if game or movie.
Software Included
Drivers & Utilities, Cyberlink Medi@Show, ASUSDVD, VirtualDrive, CyberLink PowerDirector 3, Xpand Rally, King Kong

Yes, there was a King Kong game. It was a sort of janky first person shooter. I played the demo on XB360, didn't seem very good.thats weird! the page description says "comes with the hottest 3d game: king kong" didn't even know they made one and this is a weird tie-in.
I love how she has armor all over, but the "bra" looks like it's painted on. Is that SFW?Here is my ATI X1900XT.

I just ran with the previous poster, but you're welcome to post the comparison as I'm sure we'd find it interesting.you should be comparing the 9800 GX2 to the 2080ti as that was the top card at the time 10 years ago. $599 was the price.
And this really makes sense with something like the 20xx where no-one has any ray tracing stuff to take full advantage of the capabilities. What I truly missed from yester year video cards are the demo's that use to go along with them and ready for you to run once you got your card. They were also excellent promotional tools since most did things never seen before and you got to experience the novelty of it.
