Destiny 2

A black shader seems neat. Once I can finally go back to my preferred gear, I'll definitely be going with that setup.

I have to admit that Gambit has grown on me. At first I wasn't a fan, but I enjoy it now. I'd like to see snipers and the Sleeper nerfed a bit, though. It's a little ridiculous that both 1-shot players from the other side of the map.
I've got a wave of business travel that starts this weekend so I hope they don't sneak out any time-sensitive stuff on me.

Had a good streak tonight playing with a buddy. Once we clear the Envoys, boop cannon the Primeval and go to town with supers. Burned him in seconds. Man that strat works wonders.

So is there any point to keep any of your pre-forsaken gear?
I've infused and still use some of my favorite old gear. Especially Sins of the Past and Origin Story, infused up to my current power level. I pretty much only solo, so that limits my gear selection a bit. I still use my old exotic arms, but all new gear in the other slots.

Original weapons, yeah, definitely. Hell me and what seems like everyone else is still using the Midnight Coup/IKELOS Shotgun/Whisper or Sleeper combo as it's just as good as it used to be.

The armor, no, not at all. It's missing all the current percs. I got over it quickly and just sharded it, even my full Solstice of Heroes gear.

I absolutely HATE the way all the new armor looks. I want to go back to my old gear that made my hunter look like a superhero. The Forsaken gear makes me look like a Portland wook.

Shattered Throne is no f'ing joke.

Went in two man with me at 588 and a buddy at 595. The Ogre I guess is the first big encounter and its super annoying. The biggest issue I see with that is absolutely zero usable cover. You're always exposed no matter which side of the terrain elements you try and hide on. Not going to give away too many of the mechanics away but as soon as you kill the first witch and pick up the buff, you NEED to keep moving and move quickly until you get to the DPS phase.

We tried for an hour with two Hunters and eventually I had to switch to my 585 Warlock with Well of Radiance. That was the ticket. We almost got it in one DPS phase with that and had to do another. I really, really recommend getting it done in one DPS phase because having to do a second witch/buff phase is super dangerous. With three people this would have been much easier.

That's the only encounter you need to complete to move to the next step of the Wish Ender questline but we wanted to see if we could beat the whole thing.

We didn't... Dul Incaru and her Knight buddies weren't having any of it. After 30+ wipes we managed to get her down to ~20% health and then died. Super frustrating but decided to call it a night. We'll come back with 3.

Anyone 580+ wanna help? lol The enemies scale to 590 near the end.

Really? Even exotics? My go to head armor is wormhusk or knucklehead and I miss them terribly. Haven't infused ANYTHING yet.

Based on these suggestions though I'm probably at least going to upgrade my better devils and vigilance wing. What about mida, graviton lance, and the sunshot though?

I should have specificed that exotics aren't included in that. All the standard Y1 armor though isn't worth using anymore.

Better Devil's, Vigilance Wing and Graviton Lance are all still viable though the latter have new alternatives that are quite popular.

Better Devil's is still a solid HC now that it comes with random rolls. As soon as you find a Y2 one with a god roll, ditch the old Y1 version.

I actually got a Forsaken version of the Better Devils to drop with different attributes. Better ones (IMO) in fact, although it had the 9-step masterwork process instead of 1-step. Not sure if other classic weapons drop like that, but I've at least gotten that one. I've gotten a few other classic drops that DID seem to be the same, though.

Powerful exotics are still damn good. The Vigilance Wing and Graviton Lance still do really well in the Crucible. The GL especially. The Sunshot's good in PvE, although there are other (non-Exotics) that have that same sort of explosion effect. In the Crucible it lacks the range to do well IMO.

Bleh Graviton Lance.

Vigilance Wing is way better in PVP. The slower firing pulse rifles in general will happily 2 click a player from full to dead. They're pretty much some of the most lethal weapons in PVP full stop.

Also I swear I match with dead weight 80% of the time.

IMO the best thing about the Graviton Lance is that it not only 2-shots people (without landing all of your rounds in them), the after explosion will clear out anyone close by as well.

If you guys want a boost to your light level gain potential, grind for that Horror Story. If you own Forsaken it's guaranteed to drop at 600PL regardless of your current PL.

Thats going to cause all your future powerful drops to be higher than they otherwise would.

I haven't been putting in the Haunted Forest time that I should have but I'm about to.

Details on how that works: https://www.polygon.com/platform/am...vel-grinding-festival-of-the-lost-iron-banner

I played a couple hours and I'm half way there. Doesn't take too long.

If you get someone decent, you can hit level 8 without much trouble - you get 10 a run there.

Do we know how long the Haunted Forest and seasonal content will be live? I'm headed out of town on Sunday and RDR2 launches when I get back.

I've been big on the GL but per the discussion in here I took Vigilance Wing for a test spin in Crucible and I have to say that's going to be in my short rotation from here on out because I had a surprisingly good performance with it. Maybe I just got lucky.

Pulses just feel so good. Inaugural Address is my go-to right now.

Unfortunately that also means auto rifles and scouts are relatively lackluster... and almost everything else.

Not awful, but hand cannons and pulses are really strong at the moment. A slower shooting scout will 3 tap you to the noggin at basically any range whatsoever, but you need razor sharp accuracy because even 1 miss means the time to kill spikes violently. Maybe a slight damage bump to bring that down to 2 crit 1 body, but that might make them insane.

Autos just don't really outshine pulses in any meaningful way. I'm not entirely sure what they need. Damage, I guess.

Sidearms melt at close range but shotguns largely have that covered, so their niche is bleh.

SMGs are just auto rifles that are a bit better up close and fucking useless past 5 feet.

In PvE though, the buff Scouts got this week to their downright abysmal damage helped a ton. I got one of those curated Vouchsafes (two, actually) that drop from Tier 4/Heroic Blind Well with Fluted Barrel/Flared Magwell/Dragonfly/Zen Moment and fully Masterworked in Stability. Thing is a monster for popping heads in PvE.

Feels real good.

PvP though, yeah, you're spot on.

My PvP loadout, when i have to play it, is:

Perfect Paradox (don't judge me)
Inaugural Address
Tractor Cannon (lul)

Run around with the shotgun and cover lanes with the pulse.

I really only use scout rifles on levels where you can pop enemies from a mile away. Lots of pulses will also hit from super long distance, but if you aren't able to land all 3 hits to the head scouts can be a hair better. Lots of Dreaming City missions allow you to fight at extremely long distances, so I haven't bothered to break down the better scout drops I've gotten.

I have to say that I miss when Uriel's Gift, Scathelocke, Hard Light, and Positive Outlook were really good. Damage seems to be their main issue. Ditto with SMG's.
Right now there are way too many hand cannons and pulses shredding people and way too many quests that are forcing players to use bad weapons to complete them. It's made PvP kind of torturous.

Completed the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion campaign and unlocked the Dreaming City. This expansion was vastly superior to both the base game and previous expansions, even the optional side content had it's own impressive moments. This was the kind of production quality and content the game should have launched with, I'm glad I waited till Forsaken before jumping in.

Also grinded the haunted forest for a few hours to get the horror story auto rifle. While it's not an amazing weapon it does have power level 600 which is great for players now reaching end game.

Man, if only you knew how much more "story" stuff you have to figure out after just getting to the Dreaming City. I'd argue that you've just begun where Forsaken gets fun.

Bungie's artists are truly top notch. Most everything is super well done. Crystal surfaces look like they have real depth and not just a texture with specular sheen. Light scatters though ice formations and even some enemies. Big things really feel fucking massive, like that one mission in the base story when you're on that one ship that's like literally miles long and you have to run to shadows to avoid getting burned by the sun.

One of the coolest environments I think I've seen in a game.

Not sure if it's related to the scout rifle buff or what, but the Skyburner's Oath seems especially good right now. Not in an overpowering lame way, but it's terrific at all ranges. The explosive rounds melt enemies (and other players) in range and it seems to be able to snipe enemies from miles away. I've liked that weapon ever since they boosted it in the Spring, but it might be my favorite weapon overall right now.

Anyone know if there's a range mod? Since my old masterwork mod on Origin Story gave a range boost, I lose a little range with Horror Story, since it's masterwork mod gives reload speed. For the other mod slot, what's the best mod to put on Horror Story, or auto rifles in general?

I like Minor Spec on kintetics as that's what they spend the most time doing if you're a mainly PvE guy like me but another popular mod that goes both ways is counterbalance stock.

There's also targeting adjuster, which is supposed to boost the aim assist stat. Apparently more useful for PvP (I'm mostly PvE also and tend to not have an issue getting precision hits). I was kind of thinking the Minor Spec mod, bummer I never bought one earlier. I'll have to watch the gunsmith. I've got the other 2 in inventory, but not the MInor one.

BTW, I wasn't too excited about grinding Haunted Forest for the auto rifle, but after a couple of runs I really started enjoying it. It went fast.

Just got my horror story, gave me a nice boost from 548 to 557 lol. Super excited to play with it and even happier with the free power boost.

I'm pretty similar to you, it was a nice boost. I think my power is a couple of points behind you. What mod are you going to put on your's? I'm assuming the masterwork mod is +reload for all...if not I might grind it out again on another toon.

Not sure yet, I don't have many weapon mods but I'd like to put a counter balance mod on it.

How long is the grind for Horror Story for solo players? I'm still stuck on business travel for the next few days. I could definitely use a little bit of a boost, especially on the kinetic front.

Took me 3 days, just work towards getting the weekly bounty done which gets you 40 souls, you need 120 for the horror story. Each run in the Forrest should get you 5-7 souls depending on your groups skill plus 1 soul for each daily bounty. I love that they made it match making, really helps with doing it fast.

I did it all Saturday and Sunday. The grind really wasn't all that hard, couple of hours a day. I'm mostly a solo player, but I found Haunted Forest to actually be a lot of fun. The groups I got matchmade with got anywhere from 6-8 branches done in the 15 minutes.

If you've already got a nice forsaken auto rifle that you like, Horror Story might not be that big a deal. I was still using Origin Story, so I'm liking Horror Story and it's a nice boost to my power level.

Raid done. 5 hours.

Looking back, it wasnt all that bad until the last two encounters. We only wiped once or twice on the first four parts (Kalli, Shuro Chi, Morgeth, Vault)

It's all just getting comfortable with the steps to the mechanics and for me, WHEN to do them. Timing is a huge part of the last two parts (Riven and Queenswalk)

Oof. Now to do it a bunch more to actually understand what just happened.

If you don't know how you could get in group to raid, I cannot recommend www.reddit.com/r/DestinySherpa enough!

I saw an LTS (Looking to Sherpa) PC Last Wish post yesterday morning and threw my Bnet tag in to snag a spot. Sherpa runs are the best thing I've ever discovered in Destiny and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who has never raided or is apprehensive about it. It's great to raid with another group of noobs and one super experienced and extremely patient teacher (Sherpa).

Is the horror story worth keeping? I just got it, so far not in love with it, and the rest of my gear is around 525 ish, super tempted to fuse my ace of spades or bygones with it.

What is your overall characters power level? A 600 power level weapon in your inventory is going to help a ton with your future powerful drops.

Also, you can't use it to infuse something else. I hope that's not the reason you grinded for it..

Wait, you can't use it to infuse another weapon? That isn't exactly a deal breaker, but that's kinda lame.
