It was revealed last month that Red Dead Redemption II would require a 105GB install on PlayStation 4, and now, the Microsoft Store is showing the title will require approximately 88.57GB on Xbox One. It isn’t clear why there is a 16GB disparity, but Red Dead fans who are tight on storage, regardless of which console they own, may now prepare accordingly.

While that may be smaller than PS4's listed size, there could be reasons for this. For one, it's not clear if "Approximate Size" is listing the download size (the size of all the files users download from the servers, which are often compressed) or the install size (the files as they actually are, after the installer has uncompressed them). A size difference of about 16GB would be in line with the average difference between download and install sizes.

it wouldn't take much to get the xbox version to run in windows .. so I don't get why there isn't a pc version

Well damn, when are they just going to ship games on HDDs!?
Oh wait, they're going online streaming soon so you don't own.......
.......and piss away your bandwidth.

Disappointed that there is no PC version, anybody got a good PS4 emulator ??
Haha that's funny, seriously though you should look at getting a ps4. So many high quality exclusive games on it and I see used ones going for super cheap (like half the MSRP) so they are pretty affordable.

Between my PS4 and my gaming PC I have way to many good games to play and not enough time lol.

I have a PS4 (pro), it hasn't been turned on in over 6 months. I have multiple unfinished games, but I Have absolutely zero desire to frustrate myself with a controller.

Yet. 99% sure it launches with the PS5/NextBox. Rockstar likes to double dip.

I've considered picking up a refurbished PS4 for the title. I have fond memories of RDR on Xbox. Figured I could probably sell the console/game after I'm finished and only be out like $100.

The xim is a beautiful device for the console, I only ever use the controller for games that benefit from them more (driving/flying and fighting mainly)

Just wait for a year, then it'll be out on PC.

Too much money to lose by not releasing it on PC. Rockstar and Take-Two love to double dip.

They did not release it on PC last time RDR2 might be a console exclusive. I already bought my ps4 pro just for this game, just need the game to come out.

Just like the first one... AMIRITE!?

While true, if you look at their best selling game (GTA5) it only sold (I think) a little over a million on the PC, and while yeah that translates to anywhere where from $30-60 million in sales, it really pales in comparison to console sales which racked up over 60 million sales, which means they added another 1-2% due to PC sales at most. And it just might not be worth it for them in that sense.

Probably because it took them forever to release on the PC after it came out on console. It came out in 2013, and didn't hit the PC until 2015. Who buys a multi-year-old game at full price just to play it on a different system? About 1-2% of people, apparently. If they had released simultaneously on PC and console, the numbers would probably be a bit different.

Christ I cannot wait for this game. Goodbye friends, goodbye girlfriend, goodbye future. Humanity is extinguished.

Guys guys guys we can’t talk about this game because it triggers some people because it’s not on PC.

But more seriously all you guys talking about not turning on your PS4 don’t have Spider-Man? Game got me to finally unpack the PS4 my friend gave me.

Spider-Man is legit.

i have a choice of 768kbs dsl or 100mbs cable, nothing inbetween. This will not end well for certain people.

I can't even get either. Satellite with a 50GB data cap per month (then $3 per GB after that), then Verizon hotspot with a 22GB data cap.

10 million copies sold on pc is nothing to sniff at, regardless.

10+ mil sold on Steam and probably 1-2 mil outside of steam on the PC. They are making a lot of money on GTA5 online for PC as well, so no it's not only 1-2 percent.
RDR was apparently a coding mess which was one of the reasons it never got released on PC, but it's somewhat playable on the PS3 emulator from what I've seen.

Microsoft was experimenting with segmented game downloads a while back, removing HD textures or SD textures depending on your system and not downloading audio tracks for languages not specified in your xbox. That would easily save up 15GB

Since RDR2 doesn't have the checked history of code issue that RDR1 did we can assume they'll get around to a PC release once sales on the consoles slow.

But hey, it was so popular last time why would they want anyone to hold off buying the uber expensive console edition? They wouldn't. So let every console owner buy it first for six months or so then announce a PC version.

Having fun with Red Dead Redemption 2?

- I will, in a fortnite...

I'm debating picking up a console just for this. The first one was probably my favorite gaming experience of all time. I've always been an xbone guy but...

I'm getting an xbone for this one. Its backwards compatibility will make some old z370 games worth dusting off. And streaming to pc option is pretty solid.

My only real apprehension on a game like this is how much the SJW have rewritten historical immersion to match 2018 politics. Craps all over suspension of disbelief and my imagination.

While playing I wonder what my own ancestors went through to survive that era. I know what my problems are, I want to get a sense of what their problems were!

What are you talking about? The game's not even out yet. Anyone that has played prior Rockstar titles - GTA4, GTA5 - knows they are anything but politically correct, and in fact mock it pretty heavily. Listen to the radio stations in GTA5, its constant shots at PC.

I swear, people that want to parrot "SJW" about everything they come across online - like a five year old that just learned the F-word - are as bad if not worse than actual SJW's.

The first game probably wasn't released for PC because the game code was an utter mess and it was a miracle that it ran at all on Xbox 360 and PS3.
